Me and my father used to spend quite a lot time to recycle here when I used to work in a cafe :) I used to collect the soda cans and water bottles and then we would make $5-10 to deduct from our shopping. Good old days :) We still do but only household ones. They have 4-5 machines for cans and a couple for glass. Go green! Store itself is quite big. I do not recall anything we could not find here. They always give coupons for your next visit. Ice cream and beer sections are my favorite. They have ' Talenti '. $4 a pint it was on sale and we bought 11 boxes :) They also have bakery section, hot - cold food, fried chicken etc. Only negative thing is the lines. Always packed. Cashiers help you to fill your bags to fasten the process but helps up to a point. read more

Despite the store being packed and people coming over to her left and right, she remained calm and finished my transaction while helping them. This is how store managers should be. Stop & Shop is my default supermarket when I'm in a rush to grab groceries. They're open late until midnight at this particular location, which is a godsend for me since I often have a million other things to do during the day that I often have no choice but to do my grocery shopping late at night. They have a weekly circular that advertises the food items that are on sale for that week, but even if you don't happen to be lucky enough to see your favorite brands on sale on a particular day, Stop & Shop is usually pretty reasonable when it comes to prices overall. read more

This place was horrendous before covid19 and guess what? It hasn't gotten any better. Months after covid19 when just about every major supermarket has really gotten their act together this place has regressed. Lines are forever, zero staff to keep people from jumping the line, store is never well stocked and if you go past the meat aisle and check some of the dates on the meat, you might be surprised. Saw a package of ground chicken that was already 3 days over and looking a little grey. I have been trying to figure out a way to give zero stars, but I can't. But I can tell you... Zero stars. I am a regular shopper at stop and shop on ave Y and east 17th st. Their customer service is horrible. They moved things around recently i was having trouble finding the hummus. The first person i asked acted like she was deaf and totally ignored me, the second person i asked acted like they didn't know what hummus was and gave me incorrect information, the third person said they didn't know but to try the produce isle and i did find it there. I am there just about every week spending $100.00 to 150.00 i would expect better customer service than that. Then there were only 2 cashiers open long lines at both and the self checkout. Check your receipts! I went to Stop N Shop. I gave cashier two coupons one was to make an item free. When left I checked the receipt and she didn't use either coupon. I went to customer service who informed me the $2.50 off produce I couldn't use cause I didn't spend $20. I said cashier should had told me that. While the dairy and frozen food associated are really great, they are working with hands tied behind their backs because it seems deliveries do not come regularly and so there is hardly anything on the shelves--forget about sale items. Other departments--are hit or miss. Customer service department--hmm..not so much. Writing to the company corporate headquarters does not even get a reply. Too bad the choices for supermarket shopping in the Sheepshead Bay area are limited. So, unless you are going to local produce stores (and these are often quite good), or you are seeking ethnic products, with language limitations often rude sales help,---good luck. read more

I don't usually go to stop & shop because there isn't one near my house, but I come every so often with my bf because it's near house. His mother comes here to shop and enjoys the perks of using her built up points for discounts at gas stations such as Shell. I've come across mostly friendly workers who are helpful and nice. I like the selection offered here and it's been expanding. Nice variety of foods, snacks, fruits as well as organic, health conscious and ethnically conscious foods (asian, kosher). The in-store bakery is actually pretty good too and fairly priced. The bf loves croissants and we usually get them at Costco, but most of those end up going to waste so this was great at 2.99 for about 8 medium sized ones. I don't do all of my shopping here (organic selection is limited and overpriced in some cases) but for snacks, dry goods, bottled water and such, this is a great spot to go to. Grew up not too far from here, so I'm very familiar with this location, and still stop by here a few times a month. Good sales for the basics. Overpriced for some things, but again, if you just come here for select goods, I get just about everything I buy here on sale. This place is ridiculously overpriced! I used to enjoy going to Stop & Shop and thought they had good prices compared to places like Keyfood (very overpriced) but now Stop & Shop might be more expensive. Every time I go in there the prices have increased. Additionally there always seems to be empty shelves for organic fruits and vegetables. Plenty of signs advertising them but with nothing on the shelves. Sometimes there is no organic fruit at all. I let their online delivery service get away with too much and finally had it. You order their premade CHICKEN ceasar salad (several of them) and no dates on them at all. It is a law. I mentioned this to them several times and they way of dealing with, instead of improving customer service is to toss one their always available $20 coupons. You pick a time slot like last month 6 to 8 pm and the guy came at 4:30. If i Picked that time slot there was a reason. My last order I brought the fresh buitoni three cheese raviolis that you can keep in the fridge if you are going to eat them by a certain date. I open them up and see several have mold on them. The day before easter bc I was going to be alone and bc of cancer I am kind of home bound-and have no family or friends that live in brooklyn. It is hard for me to get around when the cancer is in your spine and ribsm, thus the ONLY reason I needed an onine service. Yesterday I had had it I picked ther 6pm to 8 pm time slot and the you get an email it will be closer to 8:30 pm (Bc LOL there is such great demand for their products.) it is because they do not pay the drivers well sothey never have enough. NEVER order any kind of fresh vegetables. The three onions I ordered looked like they got them garbage pails. Their continued lies about what time the driver is coming (whn that is the point of having times slow. I order alot of foodthe day before Easter two days before. I am trying to track it on my Pc and I seea noticed that startes it was delivered.I was furious. I called and demanded to speak to manager says well maybe he left at your door. I said that would be hard to do because we have 24 hour doorman service and they cannot get past the doorman. Never buy an type of meat that a "shopper" is picking out. It;'s already slimy. I was in the Stop&Shop in Sparta tonight to get correct pricing on some items I bought at the store last night. The manager said that was the delivered pricing...$5.99 vs $7.29 pick up pricing. She had a cold attitude and didn't even try to work with the customer so I was charged $10.30 more for what I thought was the correct price. I'm still shaking my head about it! Would that have broken their bank? The employees and especially this manager are cold people and should not be dealing with the public. The store in Sheepshead Bay has parking and more reasonable prices than the Manhattan grocery stores. Glad I went while visiting friends in Coney Island. They could offer help to a disabled person. The super market I visit the most in the Sheepshead Bay area. It has everything I need and looks more modern than the Waldbaums (which is their main competitor) a few blocks down on Ocean Avenue. I have nothing against Waldbaums though because I do go there once in awhile, but I prefer the Stop and Shop because they provide self-checkout lines and it is a much larger market with a larger stock of all items. Also, the aisles are always neat and despite the large amount of traffic inside you can be out of the market quite quickly. There is also a parking lot outside the market, but it can get crowded at peak times, so if you see a spot out on the street sometimes it's better to park there instead of circle the lot. read more

This past year this place has gotten terrible. A few months ago I came in on a Monday evening to do some shopping and they were sold out of almost all the fresh fruit and vegetables, and the things not sold out were spoiling on the shelves and no one was doing anything about it. I let it slide because I figured it was a Monday and they just didn't get their delivery yet. I went back a few weeks ago on a Thursday and the place was just dirty and again low in stock. I went in today to buy a few last minute groceries and once again the place was selling rotten vegetables. The best part was that there was an associate handling the cucumbers right before I walked up to the stand and he did not take care of it. I live right by this supermarket and they have a very large selection and good deals. However, their customer service is horrible. The lines are always ridiculously long, even the express lanes. No one is there to help you with self-checkout if there is a problem with the machines. Also, this supermarket attracts the rudest people as well. People with more than 12 items are in the express lane. People are running you over with the shopping carts. Children dart in front of your shopping cart.. My neighborhood Stop & Shop. I frequent this place weekly. It's clean, bright, and has everything you want. From matzo ball mix to biore strips - everyyything. I fell in love with this place in Boston, where I was introduced to SUPER Stop & Shop - WOW - it was huge. I love to eat (that's obvious) and this is the place to buy all your meats, produce, spices (dry/fresh), drinks, ice cream; also other necessities like bounty towels, hygiene products, or magazines (they get me all the time at the register). Around the corner down the block, on Ave Z, there's a huge Russian fruit/veg market, where the fruits are way fresher and better quality - maybe even cheaper. read more

As compared to other super markets I would say that stop and shop is definitely more on the expensive size. But note, they do offer a weekly circular and if you're subscribed on their coupon mailing list, you get a ton for your buck like free detergent and four off twenty dollar purchases. This stop and shop in particular we just renovated so it's up and new. It's on the intersection with doodys, Marshall's, and petco. Extremely convenient for shopping. The parking lot is huge and they have rooftop parking too. Amazing. It's a very large supermarket where you can practically find anything you need. It's always neat, always. It makes it so easy to find things. Plus, employees always know where things are if you don't, and if they don't, there is a booklet usually somewhere by the frozen aisle that shows where everything is located. They also sell generic food, which are great. Much cheaper alternative if you're on a budget. Also, they have a fresh bakery and sushi and everything here. So much variety! Note: they also have so many sales on many items. It's so easy to find things on sale here since they all have green tags. Checkout can get busy here but it's honestly like anything else- it's a supermarket, it gets busy. They installed self checkout machines and the staff here is great with handling them, always making sure that they are working and such. A lot of times if you go to checkout with a cashier they will have a bagging person but if they dont, you'll have to do it yourself but the cashier will often help you to keep the line moving. Be sure to get all the coupons as each check out machine comes with a coupon machine. They also offer gas points here! I'm not sure how it works but If you shop here, you earn points for gallons of gas at shell I believe. read more

I stroll in pushing my cart (Which can take awhile to find at times) and I'm doing my thing. Getting my ketchup, grabbing some potato bread, stocking up on tuna, when I'm about to pass a father and daughter. She's sitting in the cart and turns around. She then points at me and says "Daddy that's the bad man!" I'm quite perplexed. I'm a teacher (Surprised? Most people are.) and children tend to like me. I suppose being a large, bald man with a beard, a child might characterize me as being scary looking but it's what the father did that caught me off guard. Did he A) Start to laugh. Tell her she was being silly and apologize. B) Roll his eyes. Ignore her and walk right pass me. C) Get startled. Crouch over. Cover his and his daughters face. Begin to whisper "Shhhhhh be quiet", as if I couldn't hear or see him, and push his cart as fast as possible. If you guessed C, you are correct. The super market itself is great. Amazing variety and selection. Large stock of goods. It's extremely clean inside. The place is huge with big aisles. They always have awesome deals. They even have a rewards program with Shell gas. You collect points and could save money. So why not 5 stars? It's the people who come here. I can't stand them. I think you should have to take a test to do the self checkout. Nothing crazy. I think a 2nd grade ELA and Math exam would be just fine. These people can't find the god damn bar code. I find myself assisting them because they don't even know to use their credit card. They argue over 15 cents. I'll give you 15 cents, just GO! They bring 50 items to the 12 items or less line.They stop in the middle of an aisle and block the whole thing with their cart. The parking lot is filled with morons. I'm getting annoyed writing about them! Time for a xanax. Ahhhh that's better. Truth is, you will get a few laughs in from the screwballs that come here. Such as the story from above. Or the lady who went to try free samples only to have he cart disappear sending her into a panic. "WHERES MY CART?!?!" Their comments to each other could either be helpful or hurtful depending on your take. "Honey do you want to get those chicken nuggets with cheese inside of them?" I immediately had to grab some after hearing that. I am angry and in love with with that woman. So it's a lovely establishment. I wish there was a super market just like this around the Downtown Brooklyn neighborhoods. Alas the people here just suck. Occasionally from what I see, other staff are hanging out and being loud and obnoxious while shoppers stands awkwardly by waiting to ask a question. Not bad mouthing their entire staff, because almost every cashiers there are nice especially the people that helps shoppers with the self-check out lanes. They have the patience of a saint. At my checkout, the cashier packed my Haagen Dazs and my salsa in a bag and flung it to the corner so after I paid and reloaded my bags into the cart, I accidentally left my ice cream and salsa. I got home and started packing. A girl knows when her ice cream is missing! I called customer service and she told me to come in. Everything was dealt with and I got my items. I do enjoy the rare NYC experience of a large supermarket with wide (!) clean aisles and a big selection including organics and good sale prices. I have a car so I buy all my 2 litre diet sodas etc. here. Basically like a suburban store except for this: I shop on weekday afternoons, not weekends, and there are usually no carts to be found anywhere! You have to attack someone at their car unloading groceries to get one. Not at the roof parking either. Usually the checkout lines are inexplicably long. My local much smaller Associated store is a much nicer and much faster experience. Like typical NYC stores, the bottle deposit machines are outside in a filthy dark trash filled shed with lines of people returning shopping carts full of stolen bottles and half the machines full or broken besides. One time two cockroaches scurried past my feet on the filthy noncleanable concrete (it's the sidewalk really, just inside a shed) floor. I often return my bottles at Stop & Shops on trips to MA or upstate NY. Usually the return machines in other stores are in a clean tiled windowed air conditioned room. It's kind of hard to explain why any suburban type store in Brooklyn (including every Pathmark etc.) is so much worse than what people experience in the burbs. Usually it seems to be about the clientele and similarly challenged staff, but the people shopping at this Stop and Shop are generally quite well behaved. read more

This place has changed hands and names quite a few times over the years (it used to be Finast, then Edwards), but I think they've finally stopped playing musical stores and settled on Stop and Shop. I hope. I like this place. It's a grocery store done properly, which says a lot. It's clean, well-lighted, and their stock is good and varied. I think they even take suggestions from their customers about what kind of products to order in, which is kind of cool. This supermarket is like the Wal-Mart of sheepsheadbay. There's all sort of food on sale each week . all fresh and at a cheap price too. I enjoy coming here to pick up groceries or snacks every week. Staff and customer service desk are all friendly. They have a self checkout station where I don't have to wait for slow cashiers to check my stuff out but do it myself. Their deli department has fresh deli meats and often offer samples when you are unsure of what to buy. They are open early and close late too so it is pretty convenient for me to go almost anytime of the day. read more

I LOVE Stop and Shop. I've been going here since it was a Finest back in 1994, which later became Edward's, which is now Stop & Shop as of the past 15 years or so. I live down the block, I know at least half a dozen employees by first-name basis. The food (that I've encountered) has always been fresh - especially the breads in the Bakery section. They have great prices, and a huge selection. I especially love their "natural and organic" aisle (aisle 1). I've rarely ever gone into another chain supermarket like Shop Rite, A&P, FoodCity, or anywhere similar that has such great prices. I do wish they were still 24-hour, but can't complain about their 5am-midnight hours currently. I love that they have self-checkout, and weekly specials. My one and biggest S&S qualm is the bathroom - it's never clean, and always smells awful - as if no one has cleaned it in weeks. But all in all, a great supermarket, that I'm so thankful to have down the block from me! Just make sure you use the potty before heading over! read more

After weeks of passing the sign on the Q train when I moved to the area, I finally ventured in and I've been shopping their weekly ever since. This is a "Super" store - along with the usual supermarket aisles the market consists of a pharmacy, deli, seafood counter, bakery, full Kosher aisle and lottery cashier at the customer service desk. The prepared food section is also worth a look - rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, salads, buffalo wings, and pizza. There's also an aisle for natural/organic foods and throughout the store you can pick up the "Nature's Promise" brand of food which is pretty good. Peak hours at this store are Saturday & Sunday afternoon - lines are long, shopping carts are hard to come by and the two parking lots are full (one street level, one above the store). Friday nights can also bring in a crowd as well. The store is open from 6am-12am so you can find a time to avoid the crowds. This store also includes self-checkout lanes but I'd advise to know what you're doing when you go to one. read more

Problem with the staff is that it's some workers are great , some are only there because they are old and been there a long time , then the younger ones or the majority are on their phones , don't know what to do when they should and are basically low quality .
