I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love that it always has everything I need, but I hate that it's super crowded with long lines. It started geting crowded when Pathmark closed. The produce section is usually in a ransacked condition, I think I come on the wrong shipment days. The staff who work the produce section are super helpful and really nice. I needed some sweet onions and I found none. One of the produce guys went into the back and came out with a fresh box of onions. The store has a great health food/organic aisle that is often non-existent in other supermarkets. I only buy Nature's Promise Organic meat at this location. I avoid the family value beef/pork like it was the plague. One time I bought Nature's Promise Organic Chicken Sausage and the sell by date wasn't for two more days. When I got my groceries home, the sausage packages smelled like my 3 cats ate some rancid fish and bombed their litter box. I planned to take it back for a refund but ended up just dumping it. So check your dates and smell your packages! My only other complaint... the grocery packers... even though it's great that Stop & Shop supports employing mentally challenged staff (not a joke). I am pretty anal-retentive when it comes to packing my groceries. No, I don't want my fresh basil crushed at the bottom of the bag by potatoes, onions and CANS. No, I don't want my frozen items scattered throughout with non-frozen items. I certainly do not want to carry grocery bags that have been stuffed so much weighing like 20 pounds that the double-bagged bags bust. read more

Clean and organized supermarket. The parking is easy because they have a large parking lot. Their corn here are pretty cheap and they are extra sweet. I love getting them for my BBQs. I also get my fruits and chips here. Fruits are fresh and the price is reasonable. One thing I love is being able to save money on gas if I spend a certain amount. read more

Yes i am giving Stop & Shop 5 stars. Let me explain why. First and foremost, i can get everything i need here, when i say everything, i mean it. From produce, to meats, cat litter to Listerine, Woolite to Pantene- they have it all. And, the prices are cheaper than drug stores, as well as cheaper than Waldbaums or Key Food. Next, they are open until midnight- so if you want to beat the crowds, you can roll on in at 11pm and get your shopping done. They also have 2 parking lots- 1 is street level which i don't suggest you use, and a 2nd one is up on the roof level which is large. They also usually have ample street parking too if you want to avoid the runaway shopping carts. Lastly, they have self checkout machines- yes it can get frustrating if the person in front of you looks like they just landed on this planet within the hour- but i like them because i get to see all the prices as i ring up and i can bag my own stuff the way i choose. Yes it can be busy sometimes and the lines can be crazy long- but it's the only supermarket in the area, what do you expect? read more

I always visit this supermarket because it's close and they always have items on sale. Really big supermarket with a large variety of foods and brands. They have their own bakery, meat, seafood, and sushi sections. Their bakery items are cheap and fresh. A donut or a bagel is 69¢. Muffins and other pastries are $1.29. Items go on sale every week, starting Friday. Popular sale items are displayed at the front of the store. -1 star: the lines can be really long sometimes (self check and cashier lines). The self check machines display lots of error messages, saying to wait for the worker to pass and check your items. However, the worker is busy a lot and it can take a while to process your purchase. read more

It must be a Brooklyn attitude..It must be a thing to accuse people of "going to the far end of the store"... really... worse than that It is Black Lives Matter, and something's the matter when a Black guy tries to use my dropped credit card, and said it was his at another store.( I could tell by the color). Honestly I don't like the the people ,never looking to help never want to , most of the time the aisles are full of food but you still can't find stuff ,I love how they have a special natural and organic aisle (keeps it more organized ) and they also have a bakery which is fresh ! I have been coming here for years as has my mother! Recently my gf and I have been coming here and they offer a good variety of organic fruits. The weekly circular is must have when you come here because there are some really good deals here. One of the women at the customer service desk is always helpful for returns and for rain checks. Absolutely the worst grocery store I have ever been too. Has gotten worse over time. Store is over crowded and only a few registers open. The self checkout lines are terrible and the machines are always acting up. No bags in the lines. The staff is mostly useless. No one helps and seems out off when you ask. Store is dirty. It's a decent supermarket: pretty clean, well lit, nicely laid out, with a good selection of "regular" as well as organic and gourmet items. I find their produce overpriced and I completely lack confidence in the quality of their meat. However, I like their bakery. I've ordered cakes from them on several occasions and they have always been nicely decorated, tasty and fresh. Cup cakes, rolls and other breads are decent as well. I've taken off two stars for long lines (to avoid them I shop late at night), scarcity of shopping carts & baskets, and the abundance of rude and obnoxious workers. read more

There seems to be a continuing trend in the meat department where there is a sign happily stating that "special orders" are accepted. My experiences say otherwise. My first experience was in my asking for 1/2 lb of ground beef. They only had 2 lbs or more out. The butcher said they only make full lbs, not half lbs. Then they advertise center cut pork chops for $2.49/lb, but everything is marked as $4.49/lb. I ask the butcher where are the $2.49/lb pork chops. His response was that there wasn't any set out. I asked if he could get me 2 lbs of these chops. He responded "no. Because everyone was out to lunch. " it was 3:30 p.m. It appears that the employees in the meat market have little or no interest in assisting shoppers. They are borderline friendly at all and give the market an underlying tone of foreboding. If they don't like their jobs or the fact that it entails the store policy of "special orders", then just pack it in and seek employment elsewhere. read more

Don't waste your money. Their fresh produce isn't exactly fresh, and neither is their meat. The only things you can buy here are canned, packaged, or frozen goods. If that's what you need, then you'll definitely find a large variety here. Otherwise, go elsewhere. I tend to shop for fresh produce in the Sheepshead Bay Fruit and Vegetable store, which is right around the corner, and buy the pantry staples here. read more

The only supermarket in my area, which is a 20 minute walk or about a 7 minute drive to. Usually I come for the sale items, which is really not many items to look forward to. But i would always manage to come out spending at least $30 in this supermarket. It has outside parking, but the rooftop parking is the most convenient and has the most space to park in, but no one goes up there to park. Great more room for me! read more

The redesign is complete! The new natural/organic aisle is awesome! There are many changes including an extra aisle, but unfortunately that came at the expense of a few inches from all the other aisles. So it's a bit tighter throughout, but still not bad. They've also made the great decision to open more registers, so the lines aren't as bass as they were for while. Still the best supermarket! read more

Always a super selection but why is the Self-Checkout like NEVER WORKING!! Gosh it drives me crazy!! The whole point of Self-Checkout is to get the lines down but in Stop & Shop seems like *that* line is always the longest!! Last week I spent a half-hour in line for 5 measly items!!! Unacceptable!! They also need to keep Stop&Shop savings cards IN STOCK!! When I first started shopping there, I wanted to get one and I kept coming back for a month and they were always "out". Then I finally got one, lost it, went back for another and it took a few more weeks before they had some more in stock! Sheesh!! You'd think they'd always have them since all the sales necessitate one. And why does the cashiers act like they'll get fired if they swipe their savings card for me??? Gee whiz, I'm just trying to save a buck, not ask u to give me money from the register!! Lighten up!! read more

Pros: Huge and clean. Doesn't stink like most NYC supermarkets. You used to never be able to get a cart but they have gotten a lot more and now it isn't a problem. The prices ring up correctly. Some of the kids who work there are nice (the older workers though, are generally surly). Wide aisles that are not cluttered with stuff. Cons: LONG lines. The self checkouts are poorly maintained and don't work well at all. Boring selection, not a lot of new things. Prices are high, especially for their produce, which is lousy (go to the fruit market on Avenue Z. for that). Meat never seems to be stocked before noon or after 6pm. Lousy meat selection. Asshole customers, but that's not their fault! Lack of ethnic foods, especially Latino foods. The biggest con of all (and I hope corporate will read this) is the aggressive panhandler who stands outside and bugs you for a dollar and keeps asking if you need help with your bags. Seriously, call the cops and get rid of this guy. Overall, it's nice to have a large, clean supermarket in the area (unlike the skeezy Walbaums) but the long lines and prices make me avoid the place. I buy produce on Ave Z. and meat at Silver Star. It would be nice if they could make Stop and Shop more of a one stop shopping kinda deal. read more

I love this chain store. It's easy for me to get to and they always have what I'm looking for. Their prices are good and they never give me a hard time about coupons. Since I started buying most of my groceries at this store (instead of one of the bigger Kosher chains), I've literally slashed my grocery budget in half. That means that I can spend more money on the organics that I want and better quality meat from a local butcher. The best part of Stop and Shop is the parking lot though. read more

I love this market. I mainly eat fish, chicken, turkey and vegan and this market has it all. I particularly love the first aisle that has all gluten free and organic products. This market is so well organized. I was even amazed at there international section having plenty Indian and Asian spices. The produce section can use some work I've seen much fresher. Lot's of trash goes here if you get what I mean. This location is so dirty-inside and outside of the store. It's not like other Stop and Shop's at all. The customers here are rude and have no home training. There are also a lot of people on drugs--which is not surprising considering the area that it's in. But it's fine if you need to grab a few things and leave right away. I had a horrible experience here today and I won't ever be coming back to this location. read more

you always know when a supermarket is going downhill and fast. it isn't necessarily the food,which may be the same or may not be. But there are other issues when you are going to spend some time shopping there. The first thing you encounter is the parking lot.this store has a rooftop lot,very large,and under utilized. maybe because its halfway up the block,around the corner from the entrance,or,it may be because there is a narrow and long ramp going up to the rooftop. getting down is harder than going up,too. anyway, most cars go into the abominable parking lot in front of the store. this is one of the worst parking lots in south brooklyn. drivers are fighting each other for spaces, in each others' way and selfishly ignoring each other. rudeness rules. it is badly in need of repaving,and a new design. also, you are sharing this lot with others. in the front,there are many bottle deposit machines crowded with patrons getting their nickels.they are usually filthy people who walk around all over the place,spreading their germs. then there is a homeless man who parks himself right next to the entrance to the store.he just stands there,glaring at you as you walk by him. and getting a shopping cart can be a challenge,especially since there is a collection of them right in the middle of the parked cars.how about that???????????????? Now this is all before you even enter this store.you want to just get back in your car and leave.But where will you go? Waldbaums is closed and there isn't another supermarket in the area that is any better,just smaller. Key Food and Met are small,crowded, higher prices and less food /products and lower quality. so, you force yourself to go inside. now they have tried to make the inside entrance space better,but have failed. there is so much food piled all over the place its disgusting. you fight your way inside,and then encounter a crowd of people waiting to exchange items,buy lottery tickets, cash in coins,get coffee, etc. so,you slide yourself past them and finally get into the store. Now this is a big store. and its not very clean,either. Aisles are usually crowded with clerks stocking shelves and have big carts next to them.You can break your neck getting around them and they don't move. they are working and just can't leave. In the movies,you always see suburban supermarkets with big,wide and nearly empty aisles.Not here,in sheepshead bay,brooklyn. of course, you can avoid the crowds,quit your job,and go when its empty. or,hire a babysitter,and leave your kids at home. or,send your husband with his cell phone, and be there when he calls you to ask you a few dozen questions. Ok,so you begin to shop,finally,and start searching for your favorite foods. If you need help,there is a small desk near the cash registers but its usually empty. there are price checks,too,if you can find one. Forget customer service- it's too crowded with lottery tickets customers.some very unsavory. so you do your best, but if you suddenly need to use the bathroom(there are two of them) you should just go home. these bathrooms are in the THIRD WORLD. they are only usable for homeless people, who care little about the filth,since they are just as filthy. NOW,after the parking lot, the disgusting entrance, the blocked aisles, this is just too much. But,most people know what it's like in the bathroom and don't use them unless they are desperate. Now you are ready to join a checkout line. Usually there are several open.and there are self service checkout counters also,with attendants to assist you. This experience is not perfect but better than most. Some cashiers talk too much to the customers,but most don't. and some customers have too many coupons and make you go insane,waiting for them. there used to be managers in the store,highly visible to customers. They seem to have vanished. Most of the time, you can get help putting your groceries into the bags.there is a bagger there,or the cashier will help you if you ask. so,why do so many people go to this store. TIS A PUZZLEMENT! CAN THIS STORE BE IMPROVED? YES,OF COURSE IT CAN. WILL IT KEEP GETTING WORSE UNTIL A NEW STORE OPENS NEARBY AND THIS STORE WILL DIE,LIKE WALDBAUMS,PATHMARK DID ? PROBABLY. PS. I've always liked stop & shop. They have deals that you want to buy! I recommend shoppers not to go on the weekends. It gets so packed and busy so checkout will be a bitch. This stop & shop is fairly clean and it's stocked with a lot of different variety of things. Produce section looks fairly good. Bunch of kosher snacks for you Jewish folks. This is my second time coming to this store. So far I've had a great experience people are friendly nice. Fruits and vegetables here are always fresh and the food is always on point. Most customers are friendly and some are curious as to why you are shopping here hence, I'm not bothered by that I just shop and look for deals for the best bargain. The only pet peeve that I have is that the lines are always crazy long. It's a problem that could be solved but, staff in the store doesn't think. To solve the problem open up more lines to get the flow going which will solve the problem of overcrowding and customers getting agitated. Otherwise I have no other problem with this store. One of the best stop and shops that I've been to in a long while. read more
