No pun intended but on 11/11 I stopped in for cornbread mix for the holiday, but spontaneity kicked in as I thought of other things needed. I've been eating Jiffy all of my life but lately Jiffy doesn't come out right, Krusteaz has been requested more often then not. It is delicious! I can't say the reviews are consistent with every Stop & Shop but this store was okay. Some aisles were not fully stocked, some product was not on the shelves, and merchandising was off. Maybe it's late in the evening and it's a holiday and everybody and their mother are out shopping before the holiday. They have seedless grapes, ugh! They have blueberry on sale, buy 2 get one free (BTGO). So I purchased, one box of cornbread mix, a small container of prune juice, blueberries and they had the carnation milk in a pour container which is new for me. Instead of taking a butter knife to make a slit on both sides of the aluminum can, a secret method used as a child, growing up. This container is not pictured but it is was a great buy. Just unscrew to pour and screw back on when finished, BAM! That's it. I use carnation milk to make oatmeal, delicious but that's another story. Oh well! Inspire more, Yelp me. read more

We walked in at stop & Shop at 9:55pm , I understand that they close at 10pm but I always thought as long as you are inside the store before the store closes you are able to finish shopping the guy told us if it was for 1 or 2 items it will be ok but since it's multiple items we won't be able to shop. It was our first visit to Stop & Shop and the overall experience wasn't too good. The decor was wide-spaced, clean and bright. The veggies and fruit looked fresh and in good quality. We would like to try the pastries from the bakery but the condition wasn't the best. There is a great variety of product line-up but some empty shelves. I arrived at 8 pm on Saturday morning. The store was crowded, which I expected. A lot of empty shelves, which I expected. What I didn't expect was the rudeness and disrespect from the man working in the produce section. My husband asked him, "Are these the carrots that are on sale?" He answered, "Read the sign". My husband said, "I'm not sure. Are they on sale?" Again he answered, even more annoyed, "Read the sign!". He turned away from my husband and starting muttering under his breath and shaking his head. My husband is a disabled veteran and blind in one eye. This employee could have very easily tried to help my husband. Is that the way Stop and Shop train their employees? That's disgusting. There was no one at customer service to report this. I wish I had gotten his name. No one should be treated the way my husband was. read more

I have been coming to this store for a few years now and all I can say is most of the employees here are just miserable. The Deli people are the worst. Lazy and don't want to help you. The line can be five people deep with one person working the counter and the other just cutting up bulk stuff for the case instead of taking care of customers. There is a female in produce that's just rude. She doesn't want to be there and is just very unfriendly. I find there never enough open lines with real people as I never use the self check out as there are way too many glitches in that. Btw the bottle return machines don't take 90% of the the items the store sells. When you take them to the Courtesy counter they act surprised but it's the same thing ever week. I now go to Whole Foods for most of my grocery's. The store is clean and the employees are all very helpful and nice. read more

Horrendous experience today. I went in to pick up Melba toast. 5 different types are listed on the app but Icouldn't find any. No associate could find any either. I tried downloading a coupon for halos which they have featured inside the front doors. I was told they won't show up for an hour on my card! Then, when checking out at the self checkout the machine freezes. When I was trying to check out I was told that I checked out incorrectly. I put my bag on the checkout area because I have to bag my own stuff. Now I was asked to ring it again on a different terminal. The coupon shows up on my phone. I was told that even though it shows up on my phonethat it's not valid because it's too soon. They have a sign and says download the coupon next to the product!. I decided to leave all my merchandise there and go shop someplace else. I never have these problems at Shoprite. Kudos to you. Way to make a bad experience worse.‍ read more

This is probably one of the better Stop & Shops I've been to. Shelves were stocked and the cashiers were pleasant enough. When compared to some of the others I've been to, this one was well lit, very clean, organized, large in size, and had everything that I was looking for in stock. read more

If this was 8 years ago, i would have given this place easily a 4 Star review. Sadly it's not the case & this place gets a solid 1 from me. Used to go here regularly and go here still for my father when he needs me to. Sadly they are getting a 1 from me because of the photos attached. Managers, learn to control the temperature on your ice cream! I literally couldn't buy the Yasso ice cream because it's frozen and has freezer burn from being heated and recooled. I have no idea what's going on with stop & shops everywhere but if they are stocked it's usually good but the ice cream situation in the Carle Place one is out of control. I am a frequent shopper of this grocery store when I was working in the area. It is literally less than 5 minutes walk from my office building to here. I am surprised that I have never review this place for all those visits that I made. I drove to come here today to buy things i needed for the July 4th bbq and picnic/beach trip weekend. It is still the same as how I remember the place on my last visit. Large store with wide aisles and clean and tidy and has well stocked shelves. I love the flower shop by the entrance door-the flowers ( bundles or potted) are like the welcoming team. The pharmacy next to the florist carries mostly of customer basic needs. I love the mid-section part where they display all the seasonal items/merchandise, eg patio sets for summer etc. The shelves are always fully stocked ....from dairy to breads to canned goods to everything. These are few reasons that draw me to this place. They have a special shelf of international basic canned and packaged goods for diverse customers. They are one of the few that carries the most of international groceries. It has organic and vegan shelves ... i mean shelves. What surprised me today was that the vegetables section carries now the basic Asian veggies that other standard American groceries doesn't carry. It is another plus for me to keep shopping here. Prices here are low. There are always Abundant items on sale. A lot of Pleasant and helpful employees that you would encounter. Extras: Redbox vending machine, a bank and a scan your own merchandise registers. read more

I came here early Sunday morning and found an oasis of shopping paradise. Everything is so neat and clean and smells so good. The aisles were WIDE enough to not have to crash into displays or other shoppers. There is a bazaar, flower, gifts, cards, balloons, plants, wood, deli, bakery, pharmacy (flu shots even) section and just about anything you need here without feeling you have been swallowed by a mega consumer nightmare like Costco or Walmart to name some. The place is kid friendly with adorable little details for them to not get bored. They do need a bigger organic produce section that will cater to us vegans who prefer no chemicals or pesticide. Though rows 3,4,5 are organic and they even have international sections. Green minded and friendly vibe. I'm told they bought up Waldbaums? I can't wait to have one near me. read more

They are the only store that doesn't staff cashiers until closing. They had a long line and only THREE self checkout stations opened with a lot more people still shopping, and 4 cashier's just wandering around watching the customers do THEIR JOB! This is the scene every night! I asked the female manager why there were no cashiers and only THREE self checkout stations and she said there was no money in the drawers... REALLY??!! Well, put money in the drawers! She finally had one of the wandering cashiers, doing NOTHING, open for credit card purchases ONLY! Lady, it's your job to make sure there are no lines at 11:30 pm! The sheer incompetence at this store is beyond human comprehension. They need to have at the very least people with a high school level of education to answer them phones and work the customer service counter. I spent 20 minutes being directed to every department in the store except the one I requested and when I finally got to that department the person didn't even speak English and had absolutely no idea of deliveries or stock. Manager of the store needs to realize this and address the matter as soon as possible because they're losing customers to ShopRite. read more

At 10AM Thanksgiving eve I was able to get in, get my stuff and get out in less than 30 minutes. WOW! The store was clean and looked fully stocked and ready for all the last minute shoppers and for the shoppers like me who just needed eggs and then found out they needed a few more things. The only thing that I found issue with was there were no carts or hand baskets at the left hand entrance. The store had all sorts of Turkey Day stuff in the vestibule but it was canned stuff and Stove Top stuffing and for people who are impulse buyers there was no way to carry this stuff by hand. All of the shopping carts were located at the other end of the store. I went hunting beside a register to find a hand basket. Eggs seem to have an inflated price today, but cream cheese was a great buy, buy two get two, so they ended up being $1 a piece. I grabbed a couple of other things and then headed to self check out. No waiting in line, checked out and on my way. The parking lot was full but this is a big shopping center so maybe people were spread out shopping. I would definitely stop here again on my way home to Bayside. This store seems a lot cleaner and brighter than the Stop & Shop in New Hyde Park. read more

Food prices have gone up dramatically! The store has 1 register open no manager around huge line at the one register open and self check out. In addition to all the spills the store was a mess I actually had to clean off my shoes. Inventory on everything is low I actually had to go to another store. Food Bazaar was very clean tons of registers open and had everything I need looks like I'll go back to Food Bazaar (there food is actually much cheaper too!) as every time I go to stop and shop it seems to be worse each time. I found mold all over the raspberries. It was really gross. Do not recommend. AT ALL. Absolutely disgusting. There's trash all over the floors. The floors are sticky too. My review is about the customer service for rewards card. I had contacted customer service twice reporting an issue when I tried to redeem award's at a Shell station in Freeport and the attendance only pumped $0.50 of fuel. When he tried again it stated 0 rewards. When he pumped $0.50 of fuel there was $0.80 off per gallon to be used with a limit of 20 gallons. When I contacted customer service both times they assured me the amount of $0.50 per gallon would be reloaded but both times they were not. read more

Really, REALLY annoyed that their scanner didn't work when I went to check out my items. What is the point of allowing me to use it when once I scan it at the end, I get a message stating that "Cashier assistance is needed to complete this transaction?" It was a pain in the butt to have to wait for someone to help me; that took longer than the entire time I spent looking for my items. Get it together, guys! Feels like this is a smaller Stop & Shop location. I've also never seen the parking lot desolate, but that's probably due to the strip mall it's in. It's location can mean that if this is your local S&S it can be a pain to get to once prime shopping season kicks in from Black Friday on. I find their milk is in a really weird place, I'm so used to milk being in it's own place, usually on a refrigerated aisle on the side of the store but this one was in the back in the middle. It didn't seem like they had that big of a selection of milk either... but I digress. I only ever go to this location if I'm in the strip mall, usually at Barnes & Noble, and remember I need to pick something up for later. read more

I infrequently use this location. It was the first experience I had attempting to return recycling. Apparently the customer service desk was annoyed previous people had asked for service to those machines.I had just arrived and witnessed multiple people arguing over 1 working machine and went to customer service to ask if they could send someone and was given an attitude and told to count the bottles out and put them on the side. I have no idea what goes on with the people in this store that someone has to be rude when asking for help the first time I have encountered this woman in this store. She told me they called for 3 times already as if I was there for the other inquiries. I waited patiently for my turn to use the machines. I shopped and still couldn't shake off the nasty attitude of this woman.Everyone who is respectful to you should also be shown respect. Not a quick tempered attitude of anger displaced from whatever interaction she had previously with others in the store.Definitely should not be working with the public if she had no patience for someone asking a simple service request that all she had to do was pick up the phone. I am from Bayport NY. I was in the area and said to myself. Why not stop at this store to pick up a couple of items so that I don't have to stop at the store near my home. I was automatically turned off from just having to use the bathroom. You first walk in, there are two plungers laying in the middle of the floor. Bathroom looks like it wasn't clean in a week. Not only a Stop & Shop, it's a Super Stop &Shop meaning not only do they have food and the like. They also have a book section, flower section, hardware and housewares too. They have a great produce section, a great meat section and a really good cheese section. Prices are a little bit higher than most supermarkets but the quality is far better. They're ethnic and organic sections have far more options than most, so you can usually find what you're looking for. A solid choice for everyday shopping. It remains my go to supermarket. read more

Would love to give this place zero stars but apparently I have to give at least 1. 10 years ago this would have easily been a 4-5 star experience but this place is a hell hole. Until now I resisted reviewing but tonight topped the charts and it is imperative that people avoid this location until the health department has fully assessed and monitored a total cleanup. Most of us that shop there put up with the occasional beggars having free roam to bother a paying customer, we have dealt with the crystallized ice cream. We have put up with broken can returns, the occasional roach and the mysterious items that we are charged for that we never bought. Tonight a mouse ran by me in the deli section where meats are prepared. How bad it must be if vermin can find its way to the main part of the store. DOH is being notified in the morning when they open. Avoid this place. They obviously could care less about their workers or customers. read more

I've had a lot of problems ordering from the deli kiosk here. Love this stop & shop!! Always very clean! Customer service is always good. We don't use self check out at too many places, but we always use it at this supermarket. Its super easy and super fast. Employees are always friendly and very helpful. I'm very picky with my deli meats. Deli is always fresh and I get exactly how much I ordered and how I ordered it (thin, medium or thick). Also quick! they move fast at the deli and if you don't want to stand and wait, they have small kiosk where you can place your order and get an order #. this is my choice all the time, I can shop while my deli order is being prepared....perfect! Bakery items such as bagel, croissants, muffins and cookies are also always very fresh. Bakery is well stocked. they have a great selection of cheeses and lots of gourmet food items. They sell prepared backed and fried chicken, which they constantly throw on sale....always fresh and DELISH! they have great deals on meat, from steak to chicken. they always have "big values" which is like a family pack, but a great price! Sometimes they have coupons stick on to the package of the meat, love that, boom dollar off meat, sometimes even 2 bucks if its a large pack! they also have coupon dispensers in front of certain products, they could be a new product or just a special promotion. Restrooms at this location are always spotless, never a disappointment. One last thing, I'm very picky with my supermarkets and get grossed out really easily, I don't like weird smells, weird looking meats, expired products and other gross stuff that goes on in other supermarkets. This review isn't based on Stop and Shop, it's based on the specific location in Carle Place. My mom and I stopped at this location on our way home from shopping in the area, out of convenience from where we were coming from. Needless to say, very bad idea! We only needed to pick up a few items! We were treated poorly by the cashier (didn't catch her name, she was a short Spanish lady). There was a price discrepancy on an item, which you could see the large sign on the end cap from the register. She then proceeded to call my mother a liar. Then someone from the front end came over, very nice young girl, and politely told us it needs a coupon from the flyer, but didn't mention any minimum spending. Honestly the cashier should of known that. Being we were just running in for a few items we never grabbed the flyer. At this point the cashier continued to have an attitude with us, and after my mom paid, she looked at the receipt and the coupon never came off. We then went over to the front end desk, and dealt with another front end employee (I believe her name started with a "b" - she was heavy set, and had purplish colored glasses) who had an attitude from the get go. So the bottom line about the discrepancy, you needed to spend a certain amount. We apologize for not knowing that but we would have if it was properly signed. There was a small sign placed next to the large sign, that the average shopper could not see properly to read. Pictures were taken! After zooming in with an iPhone 6 camera, you still couldn't read the sign. You could read it once you edit the picture and zoom in some more. Okay, so at this point, the front end employee comes back over to us, yelling about spending a certain amount to get it at a specific price. I had the receipt in my hand, and before I could say a word or even apologize, she snatched it from my hand and told us we didn't spend enough. Basically she talked down to my mother and I, and treated us like we were stupid. She had no right to give us an attitude! The end cap was not properly signed for the average customer to see. I had also confronted the employee from the front end about her attitude and told her it was unnecessary and instead of apologizing, she proceeded to go on about the coupon and the minimum spending. Very inappropriate customer service! If you can't deal with the public in a proper way, you shouldn't be working in customer service positions or in a retail setting! I was once a cashier, you just don't treat people this way! There are many unemployed people in this world who would be grateful to have their jobs and would be more polite then both the front end employee with an attitude and the cashier who calls customers liars. I will be thinking twice before I stop at this location again, even to just pick up milk. And I'm a frequent shopper at Barnes and Noble. I would rather drive to my regular store, in Oceanside or near my work in New Hyde Park... Even if I'm in the Carle Place area shopping. Oh and on a side note, even though I couldn't hear what exactly was being said, as I was waiting on line, I could see the same front end employee giving another customer the same attitude we dealt with. If you like being treated poorly when grocery shopping, by all means, use this location. If not, get in your car and drive a little further! I had a horrible experience coming to this market. I came primarily for the morning star products and came to find that half of the produce was expired. Some of them had even been expired since December of 2016! I literally had to stand to the side and check to see what other products were also expired. I had to put a Smart Ones meal down as well because it didn't even have an expiration date. I am utterly disappointed and disgusted. I can only hope that these products were merely dated improperly than to think that they were truly in that freezer for two year and a half years. Not my favorite super market (or best stop n shop I've been to) but it's the closest supermarket besides smaller/more expensive supermarkets. It does have good stock but the over all experience is meh. I can't say I've ever had a pleasant encounter with an employee. Deli counter always seems miserable. I have no other complaints except that you can NEVER find a hand held basket. Every time I go there it's a scavenger hunt and you're lucky to find one. I grabbed one that another woman had her sights set on so I helped her find another one. Ridiculous having to scour the whole front of the store and registers to hopefully find a basket. I like this Stop and Shop. It is usually well stocked and relatively clean. They recently fixed up the produce section and seem to have more organic produce selections than they did previously. On a few occasions I have had to return produce items that went bad the day after they were purchased. Fortunately they accepted the returned items and refunded my money. Now I remember why I do not go to Stop and Shop anymore. This is just massive and overwhelming grocery store. If you are thinking about coming here, then take a short drive down old country eastbound and go to Trader Joe's. Stop and Shop does have good deals and I do like they have a portable scanner where you can scan your food as your shop. It really helps to make sure you stay within your food budget if you keep one. But this place is just too big. You can probably get slightly better deals at Trader Joe's. read more
