While visiting CT I popped into this stop and shop to grab a few things. Upon entering you are greeted by the lovely pastries and cakes, along with the fruits and the deli counter. The store was well lit and there are nice big signs for each isle. That stated what was in the isle. It was very easy to find the items I was looking for. Headed to selfcheck out and line moved very smoothly. Was able to scan my items smoothly, pay smoothly & collect my things. Good experience. read more

Technically, this review is for the West Haven Stop & Shop pharmacy. There is an outstanding pharmacist there who is exceptionally professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and just an all-around great person! I went there for a flu shot and was very impressed with the cleanliness, efficiency, and overall upbeat demeanor of the pharmacist. The flu shot was relatively painless, quick, and easy. Even the gal Diane at the register is a phenomenal hard worker. Special thanks and recognition should be given to pharmacist Scott Silver for an amazingly, positive experience in acquiring today's flu shot! I am thankful that the Stop & Shop pharmacy provides this important and convenient service. read more

I understand that some people don't like their jobs, but the woman who was working the self-checkout today at noon was so rude to the customers. I think she's a manager. I feel bad for the staff if she talks to the staff the way she interacts with the customers. Maybe some verbal communication training is needed before people are moved to the next level at this store. read more

They do NOT enforce masks. I witnessed several customers without masks - and when I asked an employee about it, she looked like she wanted to cry. Said the manager doesn't want to deal with the conflict. So, they do nothing. What the hell guys? Don't you care about your employees!?? read more

It seems every time I go to the Stop and Shop on Elm in West Haven there are long lines for check out. On 11 July 2023 a supervisor gestured a wave for me to go to "fast lane,10 or less items". This was Penny's check out line and she was not going to disregard patients or protocol. She took the time to chat as she worked to get all meat and vegetables bagged in plastic bags after scanning the products. She seemed to keep the pass I needed to bag everything, Penny, you are the BEST. read more

We came into this Stop and Shop when we went to visit my cousin in West Haven. It is very close to the highway which is great for easy access. The surrounding area is a little scary with the abandoned building across the street, but no one bothered us and there was great parking! Right inside they have a huge Starbucks which i think is a great idea. The one near my house only had a mini Dunkin Donuts which just doesn't cut it when you see this Starbucks . The store seemed very clean and well kept. We were able to find the bakery section very easily where we picked up a delicious fruit tart for my cousin. The prices were good and the woman at the checkout was very friendly. She was able to scan a store card for us when we had not had ours. If I lived over here I would probably go to this Stop and Shop. read more

As far as Stop & Shop goes, this place is a really nice one. It is pretty centrally located, and it's easy to get to from 95 and the beaches. It's still relatively new, so the store is bright and clean and the employees haven't been beaten down. Four big pluses for me: (1) there always seems to be freshly baked bread at this location; (2) there is a better than average deli at this location; and (3) there always seems to be at least one or two express lanes actually manned by a cashier as opposed to the self checkouts. If they are going to bake the cost of paying their workers into the price of the food, I shouldn't have to scan and bag my own groceries; and (4) Starbucks. Minus: (1) I don't really shop at peak hours and the butcher and fish windows seem to close early here. read more

Went to hell! Bums sitting out front all the time, workers smoking out front all the time, always someone looking for money out front on your way out, self check outs are not very good, always stocking shelves during business hours, inappropriate conversation at deli and just plain poor management! Also the pharmacy sucks, sorry but they were awful at their other location anyway. I always loved stop and shop and will go to Milford location instead. But this store location should get new management, get ride of bums out front, get rid of employees that don't want to interact with customers friendly and professionally, get a new pharmacy team, add some regular cashiers to the line and smoke out back. read more

My go-too super-market. 98% of the time, no matter how much stuff I have, I always self-check out. So I really have nothing negative to say. Any time I am shopping, and I need help finding something, the floor workers always help, and are very friendly. The seafood people are always helpful and have a smile on their face. They usually always have what I am looking for as well. If you complain about the price, go to another super-market. I don't understand that one lol. They also got a People's United Bank that is open 7 days a week, yes Sundays too. I have nothing bad to say about this establishment. read more

Dude I don't know it's like the deaf leading the blind over there I called for the pharmacy they transfer me to the deli they tell me they don't know how to transfer me back to pharmacy to please hang up and call back I will sit on the phone for about 20 minutes to try to order a prescription that only takes one minute or 30 seconds to talk to a pharmacist and anyone to answer the phone usually has a zero brain cells over there read more

Wayyyyy better experience than the Milford store. Found there to be more registers open, more stock including natural/healthy foods etc. I just may continue to drive the extra five minutes for this better shopping experience. read more

A first class dump. Miserable and mouthy help. I loved the old Orange store. We definitely need a new grocery chain in town.

Let me start by saying I live very close to this Stop & Shop but prefer to drive to Milford. The WH Stop & Shop reeks so bad when you walk in, so gross! The shelves are not always stocked and it's just really gone down hill! People are always outside collecting money for something. Seems the bread aisle is always being stocked while people are shopping...bad idea. I must would rather take the extra drive to not deal with the disgusting smell and the Riff Raff hanging around. West Haven as a whole is now a dump...nothing like it was years ago. Neighboring towns ruining what was once a very nice place. read more

Probably the closest grocery store to me in town. They most likely have everything you need but at a price. 10 items and your already hitting close to 100$ here. Only worth coming here for small things on sale or if you have no other choice and time. read more

Since the Orange store has closed EVERYBODY is now coming to the West Haven store which the store is rapidly "aging". They are always out of something, the store itself looks rather dirty and being that more staff got transferred there their should be more checkout lanes open than there are. I live in West Haven and I actually drive to Milford to shop since "the change". read more

if I can give this stop and shop a 0 I would have. I ran in there last night for some quick pickups and got antagonized bye a store employee by the name of Sabrina Mitchell while waiting to check out.I got in line ran back to the endocap to get a water and next thing I know she placed her stuff ahead of me which okay I didn't make a big deal about it until she started picking with me, after she already paid for her stuff she stood at the end of the register where the bags are and was staring at me stating "OH YOU LOOK MAD THAT I CUT YOU,? YOU LOOK REAL MAD", I stated that she needed to leave me alone and keep it moving, she continued to say things such as " YEAH AIIGHT I AINT GOTTA GO NOWHERE" and kept mumbling things under her breath as she walked away, I went over to the manager Ashley, and expressed my concerns on how someone who would pick a fight while on duty should not be able to work there, I was very pissed off. while explaining to Ashley, Sabrina Mitchell was in the aisle shrugging her shoulders I guess explain to another employee what she did, the incident was so disruptive that it caused the woman behind me in line to ask if me and the girl knew each other because she would have thought we had a real issue! please pick better employees who will treat the individuals that spend their hard earned money there with respect, this does not stop at yelp I will be calling corporate immediately after this review. read more

I love paying too much for low quality food and bagging it myself while the bagger is busy walking around not helping me. This is the newest and worst Stop and Shop. Stop and Shop, are all pretty shabby and a rip off but this one, the staff has gone out of their way to not do what they are paid to on numerous occasions. read more

I really like this Super Stop & Shop! I was a long time customer of the old Stop & Shop on Bull Hill Lane in Orange, and was sad to see it close. I also frequent the Super Stop & Shop on Whalley Avenue in New Haven. However, while a bit further off the beaten path for me, this store is far superior in every way to those other locations! It is bigger, brighter, and the food selection is significantly better! In terms of quality, I would say that the produce section is really good, and bested only by Whole Foods, as far as fruits and vegetables go! I think their dairy section is incredible as well...always well-stocked and wide array of choices for yogurt, eggs, milk (which was always hard to find whole or 2% at other stores)! Bakery, Deli, Meats and Poultry sections are equally as good, and there is even a Starbucks inside for those caffeine-oriented shoppers! Last time I was there, they were handing out free cookies in the Bakery! The service is really good too...everyone seems happy and smiling, even when it's busy! And the guys working the Deli don't act like they're doing you a favor when you go to buy some ham and cheese! All-in-all, I'm really glad I stumbled on to this grocery store, which is leaps and bounds above the rest in the area! read more
