Most of the staff is disconnected and don't seem to care. Some even appeared to be in constant bad moods. Had worst experience ever. The woman at the self check out was rude and grumpy. When she found out one of the items had the price, and when I asked if she would honor the price, she just grabbed the items from my hand, told me that I was done, and told me to leave. Today I had a cashier at Westport Stop and Shop named Rondell that rang me out and proceeded to stand and watch me bag. My left arm is wrapped in a bandage and I asked him why wasn't he bagging. Then he proceeded to literally throw all my items in one bag that couldn't even be lifted to put in my carriage. When he saw that the bag was too heavy, he said if you want a brown bag it will cost you 10 cents and I will have to ring you out again. I purchased the bag and he crossed his arms and stood there. A woman behind me looked in horror and said "help her"......he still stood there defiant and she came around and we both bagged. A total stranger. I would love to give this Stop and Shop 4 stars but the only reason why I'm putting it at 3 is because every time I've done pickup, they have been super late. The last time I did pickup, I waited over 45 minutes when they told me 15. A few other times, my products have had tears in them (spinach falling out) and expired products. Absolutely ridiculous! I no longer do pickup here (I go to Stamford instead). However, if I have never done pickup, this store would receive 4, maybe 5 stars. I love that they have a bigger all natural/vegan/health food section and for that, I prefer this store over Stamford's location. The staff have always been great to me and the store is pretty well stocked/clean. I honestly wish I could give this store more stars but it really falls on the poor service with pickup. read more

I'm a regular here, but mostly due to lack of better, closer options (Aldi, Lidl, etc). For the many newcomers- focus on the myriad of sales, and you'll be fine here. HOWEVER, do not expect a very personable experience. The checkout clerks are mostly unfriendly, some border on rude. Almost all are intellectual blank slates. Not sure who does the hiring- or what the hourly pay is- but the absolutely miserable demeanor of most (not all) of the staff is what merits this rating. read more

This is the worst stocked supermarket I have ever been to. I have been shopping here for almost 20 years but over the last 5 years no matter what day of the week I shop they never have any stock. Today I took a picture of the butter fridge, the whole dairy department looked like this, but so did the produce section, the beverage aisle, the pasta aisle, the paper goods aisle etc. Is it to much to ask to have good inventory of basics? I spoke with customer service at the store and they told me they are on an automatic inventory order. Clearly their inventory system is broKen and needs to be reviewed I don't understand how their competition close by Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Shop Rite Grade A can keep their shelves stocked but stop & shop can't. The white lady with the glasses who works in the deli cannot use a scale properly ever..(example) - If I ask for 1/2 a pound of ham, i get 3/4 or more, This happens all the time with her. So I have to ask: does Stop & Shop have any benefits for vision correction ? Hopefully all she needs is a new pair of glasses. read more

The guy kept hanging up on me so I proceeded to call back and I asked if he could stop hanging up on me and his reply was "Sorry I was trying to answer other calls." then i asked to speak with a manager and was finally helped. Consistently out of stock in all categories. It takes months to get back in stock. Produce is sub standard quality and popular items and brands frequently disappear from Plano grams. Deli workers all seem to be angry and service is awful despite carrying quality cold cuts. Baggers at check out are rare. This is the worst super market. The staff are rude, inept, and completely unhelpful. Go to Trader Joe's where you'll find the exact opposite. When i moved here three years ago I saw the terrible reviews and wasn't thrilled at the produce and found the refrigerated section a mess- everything went bad quickly. THAT SAID I 've seen a real improvement in the store in the last six months since covid! While the cleaning section is still entirely empty ( like most stores) they've upped their game by clearly adding staff. I just moved here 6 months ago. I have been going to Stop and Shop for the past few months and I have decided after today's experience I will never shop there again!! I am struck by how deliberately unfriendly the check-out staff is! Every time I say hello and every time they cannot even be bothered to look up, nevermind acknowledge me. Maybe it's because there's no real competition nearby but this store seems to care so little about its upkeep, stocking, service -- at peak hours as many as 8 checkout lanes are not in service! Shop rite is further but superior in so many ways: cleanliness, courtesy of employees, prices and availability of products. Super Stop & Steal: Past 3 visits I have been charged wrong (either charged for incorrect items I did not buy, or not given the sale prices). One time the rip off charge was $12, the other times between $4 - $8. I can't imagine if I shopped here all the time. I rarely go since this store is right up there with Costco on my can't stand list. But unfortunately it is closest. Really does it have to be so huge it takes a person 20 minutes just to find an item? And the check-out wait time..Plan not to make it anywhere on time after a visit here. Review your receipts. An unmanned shopping cart came rolling down the sloping parking lot and crashed into my car. It caused considerable damage. I reported it immediately to the store manager who came outside, asked questions, took my information and photos of the damage to my vehicle. She indicated someone from corporate would be in touch with me. After two weeks I was informed by the loss control division that they were not going to cover any costs to repair the damage. They determined they were not at fault. I contacted them for further explaination and was puzzled that even though I was shopping at their store, parked in their parking lot and was hit by their shopping cart. They simply refused to accept any fault whatsoever. I've had it with them and have decided that they do not deserve my business and have moved on to other, more friendly supermarkets who appreciate my business. read more

I keep trying to like their stores and they keep driving me away--I decided to try them again after several months because the last time I went they overcharged me for a sale item--so the latest is charging me for 4 items and I only bought 3. I know it is only for $1.67--but I guess if they do it often enough it adds up to real money for them. I guess the cashier was too busy checking her phone to actually pay attention to what she was ringing up. The quality to price ratio for meat, chicken, seafood, etc is horrendous. Everyone else seems to understand beef has come down In price. If you can go to Costco or BJs do it. You can pay for a membership in about one trip via savings. fresh food quality is usually better - but never worse. Same thing for Cheeses where Costco has a great selection at much lower prices. Milk is usually over $1 less per gallon. Otherwise go to another Stop and Shop because there is also an additional premium for the pleasure of shopping in Westport as someone mentioned below. stop and shop is becoming the new 7-11. read more
