First time in and the girl behind the counter was so sweet! She gave me recommendations (that were fantastic!), gave me a mini tour, and insisted I take a side of their fabulous garlic dressing with my to go sandwich. I got the avocado and cheese sandwich on this excellent multigrain bread (I need to look if they sell the bread here too). I loaded all the veggies on and 10/10 would order again. The hardy bean salad and the chicken salad were also great. Will be adding this spot into the rotation. read more

** Bait & Switch Pricing - Greedy out of touch owner ** Stopped in with my two teenage daughters for a quick snack after school. One ordered a juice, one ordered a smoothie. After taking the order, the staff said they couldn't make the juice. Fine; we agreed to one smoothie split into two cups. Instead, they overfilled two cups. At the register, the owner tried to charge me for two smoothies (nearly $12 each). I explained we only ordered one smoothie to be divided. He looked at the cups and said they were full, so I had to pay for two. That's not how ordering works. If he had half a clue, he would've investigated further instead of immediately trying to squeeze the customer. He didn't. He then took one smoothie away from my daughter, said he'd divide the other, went into the back, came out with an empty cup, handed it to me, and told me to divide it myself. After the bait-and-switch and then adding insult to injury, I finally broke down and called him an M.F.; though frankly, that's too generous he is really just a low-life POS. He responded by calling me a cheapskate and telling me to get out (in front of my kids). For the record, both daughters also bought other items in this already overpriced store. This wasn't about money. It was about refusing to be taken advantage of. Maybe this kind of conduct flies somewhere wherever he is from, but it's not how business is done in the U.S. or in Westport. And last I checked, the basic rule still applies: the customer is always right, especially when the facts are this clear. Plenty of better options nearby (GG & Joes has better smoothies!). I was really excited to try this place. As I keep seeing this place pop up on my social media. As I walked in, and browsed the cosmetic and soap aisle. I became even more ecstatic that they had more options than Whole Foods! I then made my way over to the cooked food, that looked delicious! I thought I found a gem. But, as we move into 2025, nobody really wants to be reminded of the pandemic when shopping for food or in general. So, maybe having the person behind the counter making the food in an N- 95 mask hacking and coughing away is quite disturbing. Therefore, I will never shop here. I Just wanted you to know that I was willing to spend a ton of money in here today and then ran away really turned off. You need to take this serious because that was a mess - and you shouldn't have your employees working who are extremely SICK. read more

Have been coming since 2005 ordering green juices when all the barre Range Rover muggle mommies had no clue what maintaining a healthy lifestyle was all about. Let me tell you, to walk in all these years later and enjoy the same green drink with a shot of wheatgrass made by the same woman - looking lovely I might add - was simply delightful. It wasn't jam packed so I was able to stock up on some of the wonderful prepared vegetarian food from their food bar (they have meat too), grab some soup to go, get some vitamins and some organic produce. I was actually delighted to get a few of the latter items to save me a trip from the horrendous monstrosity known as the Brave New World's Whole Foods and not be tracked. Nice little market discovered while looking for a post office in a small strip mall type shopping center. It has all kinds of healthy and organic foods. More than you can imagine, desserts and fresh produce too. They also have a wall with a full array of vitamins, minerals, suoplements and person products. In the back of the shop is a fantastic hot bar with so many appetizing options it is almost impossible to decide, and the smoothie/sandwich bar and to-go stuff in the fridge back there compound the difficulty choosing from so much great stuff. They sell coffee, tea, and an assortment of cold drinks as well. The options seem endless and Organic Market appears to have a loyal following. There are some tables in the back by the food area to sit and eat and a few are also out in front of the store. Great place. read more

Sometimes I find myself in CT for work, and often times I find myself hungry. I decided to grab a sandwich at The Organic Market. In the back of the store, they have a small counter for fresh food prep. The selection is very limited (a few healthy sandwiches and fresh juice) but everything is delicious and organic. The juicer looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile, but I'm sure discolored shavings are somehow good for you. The rest of the store contains a huge assortment of natural groceries, a wall full of vitamins, and even a bunch of books (I couldn't put down "After the Affair: Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has Been Unfaithful"). This is a good place to stop if you want healthy food and don't want to brave Whole Foods or some of the bigger stores. read more

Soup is 5 stars. They really have some of the best soups anywhere in the region, and the price is fine, you serve yourself and you can mix em in a container. If you need that $5 or so quick soup lunch, this place is the best. Butternut squash with coconut milk, minestrone veggie (not in the heavy tomato sauce) and a miso and others. Does not seem to have the dreaded thickeners. The hot bar could be stronger. The juice bar is good, I'm not sure about other stuff from the back. read more

This is my favorite place to go for lunch. I often drive the 20 minutes out of my way to go here because the food is so good. The owner Maggie is in charge of all the food and is extremely talented. You can trust that all of the food is organic and prepared as healthy as possible, without refined sugar and often gluten free. I really don't like to write a negative review but I just felt that I also could not let blatant racism go unnoticed. For sure the food might be good here, and if you like your organic veggies served with a nice dose of discrimination this is your place. I didn't want this to be true and each time I went in I tried to convince myself that it was my imagination. However, after experiencing a blatant difference in service from the person in front of me EVERY time who did not have "brown skin" there was no other conclusion I could come to. I would go in and be as polite and kind as I could be, and without exception I would be greeted with extreme unfriendliness and rudeness. So sad. Perfect healthy and delicious spot to have lunch in Westport. Everything is made fresh every day and I feel good knowing there is nothing processed, frozen, etc about it. Go on a Tuesday to have the cilantro chicken or turkey meatballs from the hot bar. Energy Booster smoothie from the back counter is another go-to (amazing customer service no matter who you speak with at the counter- but I do need to give a special shout out to Eric!), as well as the chicken salad. By far my favorite health food store and take out in Westport. Their juice bar is super fresh and always made to order. Same goes for their take out food. My favorite is the hummus sandwich on multigrain. Their soups are also out of this world. The store has a ton of organic and healthy brands. I've been going here with my mom since I was little and now even my non-vegetarian-fast-food-eating husband loves The Organic Market. Best lunch in Westport! Nancy and Eric makes the best sandwiches but it is always a difficult choice between tuna or chicken salad! I tried the egg salad last time for brunch and it was like nothing else! Try the green monkey juice or any green juice. A-OK. Struggling to find healthy, vegan and organic whole foods options in this area, I stopped in on my way to Norwalk from Westport, just to check it out. Not really impressed. The place smelled like homemade couscous (you know the Near East brand kind), which was overbearing. The selection of organic produce was slim and the prices of my regular foods found at WFs, TJs, and S&S was higher. I'm guessing alot of people like this place for the healthful hot dish. Missing my fave vegan cookies from out West, I asked the cashier if the homemade cookies by the door were vegan. She told me to read the label and if it didn't say vegan, I had to pick one up, walk back to the kitchen, go back into the kitchen, get someone's attention and ask if they were vegan. This is pretty poor customer service in my opinion. She did say they were tasty but didn't really care about them being vegan or not. The cashier who rang me out had a similar viewpoint on customer service. He was talking to the first cashier the whole time while eating something that looked like couscous from a paper bowl. He even seemed to flick the receipts into my bag without saying anything. Next time I will be sure to wear my faux fur and waltz around in some heels to earn respect. Or maybe there won't be a next time. I can still smell whatever they put into that couscous stuff. Must have saturated my clothes. So, if you venture out here, be prepared if you aren't a local, and note I didn't try the food, but sure did smell it. read more

I thought I'd stop by this store as I was stopping by the post office, so I visited for the first time. Store is small and has limited choices of items thrown together as "organic". It's basically a very expensive country store with even the basic items priced up.A lot of iItems randomly don't have the prices labelled( on package or shelf) so that you have no idea how much it is until it is rung up( pretty sneaky). I bought some nuts and it's about 15 cents a nut. The prepared food is displayed in unsanitary appearing chafing dishes witha hood that is too high to prevent any sneeze from contaminating what you will be eating. Basically, I won't be going out of my way to drop by this store again. There's a Trader Joe's across the street and other more appealing stores in Westport. read more

I love this place! Westport has very few organic lunch options, and so I end up at Organic Market several times a week. Four kinds of organic soup to pick from, or a custom made salad with many different unique combo to choose from. Because it is a market, I can also supplement with organic packaged items, and specialty items. Definitely a place I rely on in Westport to get through the day. read more
