This is a cute little market in Westport with plenty of high quality produce. A little pricey for me so I probably would not do my weekly shopping here but worth it for seasonal produce like berries and heirloom tomatoes. There's a wide selection of local meat and dairy. Tons of olive oils and specialty condiments as well. Service here was impeccable as the person at the register insisted on bringing my groceries to my car. I'm from Chicago and raw milk is not legally-sold in Illinois. I learned that it is available in CT and I had to have some! Double L sells raw milk from Sankow's Beaver Brook Farm. I bought a gallon and some jumbo, super sweet blueberries. It was expensive but worth it. The milk was fresh and the best I've ever tasted. Dont buy eggs here. Needed eggs one day heading home on post rd so i stopped and due to covid they are not letting people in. Charged me 8.99 for veg o feed eggs that laroccas in stamford sales for 5.99 also the natural ones from the same farm cost 6.99 from laroccas. I supported this business for years. Lloyd used to tell me he drives around the northeast to farms collecting produce, including MA and PA. I used to wonder when he made these trips, since he's in his store almost every day. Then a year ago my niece's best friend worked for Lloyd and told me he hires local kids primarily to peel all the "conventional" stickers off all the produce in the back room, and sometimes she did this for hours. Can't say for sure if he does this with ALL produce - if you see an organic label then it's likely organic. But this is an honest review, and he is selling non-organic food to the public, just like Organic Market does. Figures - so much for helping the local mom and pop shop. read more

STRAWBERRIES! The sublime taste of fresh strawberries in season first brought me to the Double L Market because I remembered the wonderful taste of these delights from my childhood. Strawberries had become bland and tasteless through breeding for shelf life and the ability to survive transit to the point of sale. Lloyd chased the short summer season for the best berries each year, finding the ripest and tastiest fruit from Georgia up the East Coast through Connecticut, eventually all the way up to Quebec. His berries were so much better than the tasteless supermarket berries that were passed off as the"best available." Weather could affect quality, especially rainy spells in the Northeast. Now Lloyd has found the Mecca of Strawberries in California's Harry's Berries, recently featured in the Sunday New York Times. When these are available they are the true best that can be sourced. And Lloyd searches for everything else he sells at the same level as well. Thank you, Lloyd. I am a true fan! read more

HIDDEN GEM! i just moved to the area and stumbled upon double l market looking for raw milk. wow. this place has changed my lie. every last product has been hand chosen... with attention to detail like i've never seen. not only do they have the most amazing hand selection of produce, eggs, grass fed meats, fresh cheeses, but they have everything from the best maple syrup, to home made fresh daily cobblers, to guacamole as you wait. what a find. i drive 40 minute twice a week because there is nothing like double l. lloyd the owner is fantastic. greets you daily with a smile and you can't help but become passionate from his passion about why he has chosen every last item for his market. he is one of a kind. run... don't walk. promise double l will not disappoint! you know it's good when all the best private and restaurant chefs are regulars. read more

Teeny tiny local organic market that I randomly stopped by - but I'll have to come back once the fresh produce season is in full swing. They didn't have much to offer on that front, which was disappointing, and in general they don't seem to have much in stock for the pantry. What seems to be their draw, from what I could tell, is the frozen grass fed meat selection - and a small, fresh seafood fridge. Their refrigerated section isn't too shabby either, and I was thrilled to pick up some duck eggs (which I've been looking for and can't seem to find anywhere else!). Prices are what you should expect from a small, independent, organically minded market - but if you're shopping at Whole Foods, maybe you should support local first here. read more

Very small, tucked almost into a gas station. BUT, great quality organic/farmer's market produce. The had a small amount of fresh breads but a nice selection of meats including duck. What a place! The people who work there love what they do! They aren't robots behind a deli case or unknowledgeable about their products. They are out there on the floor happy to deliver the best service and quality they can. Need instructions on how to roast a chicken? They'll tell you how and what would go great on the side. How did I ever survive w/o Double L Market? I go almost every day now for the incredible fresh fruit for my kid's smoothies and grass fed meats and fish. My family is addicted to the fresh (made as i wait) guacamole and the prepared foods like turkey chili, hummus and baked chicken tenders make my life easy. The best part is the people working there are genuinely WONDERFUL, caring people who are passionate about good food. Loyd goes out of his way to show me new fabulous dishes for my kids, even demonstrating how to make the world's best succotash or suggesting Fire Cider to cure my cold. Amazing! read more
