We were slightly discouraged reading other builders reviews and hearing horror stories from friends of ours who had decided to build their homes as well. During our search we came across Nelson Builders. We were immediately impressed with their website and spec homes that we viewed. We also found multiple friends of ours who live in Nelson Builder specs homes and are happy with their experience. We dug deeper into online reviews of this company and found nothing but positive comments. This was not the case for multiple other builders we researched in the area. We set up an appointment to meet with Matt Nelson and were immediately impressed with his attention to detail and the passion he showed about helping us develop plans for our dream home. After we put our deposit down and the building process began, we feared we would quickly feel overwhelmed with all of the decisions that needed to be made. Nelson Builders uses an application that you can access on your phone or desktop which keeps you up to date on the building process, allows you to make selections, and communicate with the owners seamlessly. This communication tool was a huge positive attribute for us because we were not living in the town our house was being built in so we could not visit the job site as often as we would have liked. However, we were able to get updates and see pictures and videos of our home during all stages of the building process through the website. We write this review to give our honest opinion about our experience so that other individuals can make a well informed decision for such a huge investment. As mentioned previously, we were mentally prepared for catastrophes to occur during the process, but we did not experience any. During the building process, Matt met with us regularly to make sure that we were happy with everything and made adjustments accordingly. For example, halfway through the build, we decided we wanted to change flooring of the entire first floor. Matt made sure that the material was delivered immediately so that the floor had the appropriate time to acclimate before being completed and still kept us on track with our move in date. There are many other examples that we could give about the time and effort that Nelson Builders put into our home. If you want to have a high quality home built in a timely manner by an enthusiastic team, then we strongly suggest you choose Nelson Builders.

Josh showed up on time, provided a fair estimate, and made adjustments as needed throughout the process. What started as painting quickly turned into several additional projects because of the confidence we had in his work and professionalism. Since then, his team has: * Deep cleaned the entire house to "showroom" condition * Built a custom backyard fence by hand (not prefab panels) * Started plans to white-box the garage and replace windows Every step of the process has been professional, personable, high-quality, and completed in a timely manner. While we were looking at other businesses, we greatly appreciated Colton's knowledge. We also wanted to support a local business, and we were impressed that they did their own work rather than hire contractors. In the end, we decided to go with Crown Exteriors. We asked about the timeline, and we were told that once they measured and placed the window order, we would have windows by mid-May at the latest. We received a text letting us know that the windows showed up May 2nd, and Colton told us that they'd schedule us after their carpenter caught up on a few things. After that, any communication was initiated by me. I reached out on 5/22/24, 1/19/24, and 8/5/24. Colton responded each time, but it was unnerving to have to reach out so often because we weren't given any updates. Finally, at the end of August 2024, I received a call from Colton asking if we wanted the windows installed the next day (8/29). Because we'd waited so long, we agreed. The next day, contractors showed up, which upset us because we had hoped to have someone on staff do the installation. The install went as smoothly as it could go, and it took about three days. However, two days after the windows were installed we noticed some issues. First, they installed our doors the wrong way, flipping the handle from the right to the left side of the door. Thats minor, but we were confused as to why they'd make the change. Next, the sliding glass doors accumulated water at the bottom. Outside water accumulation makes sense, but there shouldn't have been water on the inside. Lastly, a couple windows wouldn't open, and we couldn't figure out why. We contacted Colton, and he said he'd need to circle back to the contractors to look at it. This response was given on September 9th. Since then, we've called Colton (who let us know he didn't work there anymore and gave us the owner's contact information), the owner, and the business number on the website. We've left messages as well. We have yet to be contacted. The install was approximately $20,000, and we are not a super well-off family, so we really counted on this to be done well. And yet, we've been ignored and left with broken windows. I didn't want to leave this review because I'd hoped to work it out with them, but I'm hoping that they might be more willing to talk to us with this review posted.

Block was there in 30 minutes, assessed the situation, and called in three more guys. They were not going to leave me without power in a dangerous situation! 6 hours later they had fixed all the mistakes that had been made in the 25 years of bad electricians being in there, installed a completely new box, matching breaker, and a new main. I can't say enough good things about them and their service. No one else with touch my electrical systems again! The bill was half of what I was expecting

They did the inspection with the water turned off and failed to notice that the dishwasher was disconnected and would not work. Worse yet, about 6 months after moving in my new house I found a large spot of water damage behind the furnace, which was quite easy to see and had been there for a few years (according to my contractor). It is full of mold, plus the damage goes into the floor and drywall. Since the inspection warranty expired 7 weeks after I closed, they will do nothing about it, even though I can prove the damage was there when he did the inspection. Now I am stuck with a repair bill of about $3000. Use someone else.
