Stories has been around for ages, and I've been meaning to try it. Finally got the opportunity this past Saturday. Sadly, no pictures, we were too engrossed in conversation. The location on 204th Street in Gretna is clean, open, inviting ... but noisy. It's one of those warehouse-type settings where you really have to work at having a private conversation. Seating is expecially comfortable in the big chairs, but then you have to schootch them close together and lean in so you can hear each other, which is unfortunate. Granted, tables are set far apart, but this should be in addition to. Coffee was delicious, but the beignet bites were just so-so. Granted, one should not expect New Orleans beignets outside of New Orleans, but these little donut puffs had only a light dusting of powdered sugar (which I actually was thankful for because I wore black pants!), and there was a not-overly-pleasant surprise inside with an indistinguishable creamy substance that was sort of like the inside of a brown sugar cinnamon poptart, only less so. I hadn't been expecting that. The yogurt parfait was substantial and delicious. (The staff was friendly and helpful when making selections, but it didn't occur to me to ask about fillings.) I might visit again, but maybe at one of the other locations, if acoustics were more promising. read more

A MUST visit!! One of the best coffee shops to lounge and get some work done or meet up with friends. They have seasonal drinks and some yummy bites. I always get the spinach and artichoke dip that comes with sliced baguettes. Parking is fine. Clean atmosphere with friendly customer service. read more

Everytime I go to stories I have an awesome experience with everyone who works there and always feel their warmth with each interaction. The coffee is delicious, but i stopped in today to get a matcha and tea. The matcha was smooth and rich and the perfect temperature! Stories is a great place to come with friends for chats, work on homework in the back study room, or just spend some good quality alone time in a space with great light, drinks, & bites. Lots of options here and I love their summer drinks. Met up with my friends I ordered a pretzel that came out soft and hot along with one of their summer specials. I was surprised because the drink wasn't overly sweet at all very balanced. Great seating but a busy place. We were glad our friend got their early because even at 3:30 they are very busy! Stories Coffee Company is such a charming spot! The cafe is cozy, beautifully decorated, and has such a welcoming vibe. The staff was super friendly and our drinks came out quickly. I love when a coffee shop offers both a wide menu and seasonal drinks--Stories had both, plus plenty of sugar-free options, which was a big win for me. I ordered a sugar-free mocha that was delicious, I also tried the iced white mocha with brown sugar, and it was fantastic! We got a matcha latte as well--the vibrant green color was gorgeous and the taste was so refreshing. And I can't forget to mention one of the cutest touches: the propagation wall! Guests are welcome to take a plant clipping or leave one behind, which makes the space feel extra unique and homey. I've been to stories a number of times and I'm always pleased with the quality, service, and timely manner the staff presents with. I have really enjoyed working here in the evenings, they tend to have a few more open tables and it's a little more quiet. I opted for a smoothie and a little sweet treat chocolate chip cookie. Both were very tasty and exactly the little afternoon snack I needed in the heat we're experiencing currently. If you do plan to visit, I'd recommend checking their social media pages for any events! These seem to be fun for others but came as a surprise while I was studying. I had gone this past weekend and I was unaware that were would be salsa dancing lessons in the main area. This is an amazing opportunity for the community to get out of the house and try something new. However, it's not as ideal for students looking for a little more quiet. Overall I have always enjoyed stories and I plan on coming back soon :) read more

I actually happened to go here because I locked myself out of my office nearby - and I'm glad I did! This coffee shop is HUGE! The menu includes your classics, but also had foods and alcoholic drinks. I was able to work seamlessly using their guest wifi and had no issues finding a space for myself, bag, and work items. It was busy and the staff handled it well and kept the lines moving. They also have a drive through option! Definitely going to be stopping by more now! read more

I will forever sing the praises of Stories Pork Belly Breakfast Burrito. For $6.95 before tax this burrito beats out any to-go and the large majority of sit down breakfast restaurants. It's not only a good size for the price the ingredients are top notch and crazy good. I've had this burrito more than a couple of times now at both locations and the quality and consistency is there every time. TRY IT! Pair it with their perfectly sweet and strong Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso and you've got a great breakfast. I've been here several times, both to sit down and talk with friends and for events. My realtor has had a few events here around Thanksgiving and they've all been great, as have the times just sitting down for a cup of coffee with friends. In the summer, I love their blended Affogato. It's one of the best that I've had! I've also had many other great cups of coffee here. I came one morning, and was a little disappointed they didn't have orange syrup, but that's not a common request so not a big deal. However, I did get a oat milk cappuccino, and when I went to drink it, it tasted oddly sweet, I'm not sure what kind of oat milk they use, but it was not like other oatmeal cappuccino I've had. So I probably won't get one of those again, but I will definitely return for the blended affogato in the summer! I prefer to support smaller local businesses that are not national chains and Stories has quickly become a favorite. I pay with cash to help these businesses avoid the third-party payment processing fees and help keep prices low for everyone. Payment processing fees are often higher for small businesses because bigger chains can easily negotiate lower bulk rates. Stories 114th location is nice with plenty of seating options indoors and outside, a variety of table and chair types for different uses, group sizes and comfort levels. Seating offered out on patio, in the large main area, or in a quieter back room. The place is large but cozy. Haven't tried the food, but I have seen what others have ordered while waiting for my drink and it all looks amazing, I will have to try one of these days. I really hope Stories stays humble and doesn't turn into an overpriced corporate chain like several other well-known coffee companies have over the decades. read more

This is a stunning coffee shop. Very large and hosts music Thursday evenings. Service was kind and patient as we decided what to order. Plenty of seating options and very comfortable seating at that. This was my first visit to Stories and it was outstanding. I got an iced lavender chai tea latte. The chai was very good, not overloaded with sweetness and the spices had a great balance. This place is big with plenty of tables / seating, very clean places to sit and eat, clean bathrooms, and AMAZING coffee. I got the brown sugar shaken espresso drink, which is very good, and my husband tried the cold brew as well as a hot black coffee to go. All of the drinks were great! We also ordered breakfast (skinny breakfast sandwich and the biscuit sandwich, both with turkey sausage) and they were the perfect serving - not too much or too little, not overly greasy. They have everything from booths, to high tops, to big comfy chairs, to couches. They have booths that fit 6 people, tables for 2 - 10, and a variety of stand-alone chairs. They are spaced out as well so you don't feel crowded, even when the place is packed. Popular - I have been to stories 4 times over the past month and every time I'm there on the weekend it is at least 70% packed. It is a very popular spot on Saturdays early afternoon and Sundays around "church time." Drive-Thru - The Drive through is a hit-or-miss experience. I have had a very quick experience with the drive-thru and the other time I rolled through I waited 25 minutes for my two coffees. It was so bad, I got out of my car went inside and had to talk to a manager. So, use the drive-thru at your own risk. Options - they have a good variety of options for coffee drinks. They have more or less as many options as the brand from Seattle. So, you aren't missing out on variety when you go to stories. Pro Tip - Plan on going inside to get your drink. Make it an experience and expect to spend 1-2 hours doing work there. If you are in a rush, I would not go to Stories. Pro tip - Get the cinnamon roll and ask for it to be heated. It's larger than expected inside and, despite being one long open space, manages to have little nooks and sections that make it feel cozy. I don't know how I haven't reviewed this location yet. I love the space, the tables and the number of outlets. Staff overall are really good - I have had a few times where I feel like the staff are kind of rude or at least they don't seem to care about providing good service. However those people seem to be younger and few and far between. Some of the regular staff I see are very attentive. I wish that they would almost upsell the alternative milks though, I get so caught up in trying to review their seasonal specials that I forget to order one of the milk alternatives and then tend to be stuck with something I shouldn't have. But I am always happy with the flavors and the drinks. One of my favorite things they have are live entertainment - Saturday evenings they tend to have local performers and it makes me so happy. They only play for a couple of hours but it's nice acoustic music where most of the time you are able to listen but also still chat with some friends. read more
