Do me a favor do not come here they will wheel you in with a great move in special, Few months after they will charge you. You give them your own rental insurance and policy last a year they will say that your insurance was dropped and it wasn't management will never call you back or get notice your bill has changed to a higher price for there reasons. Unless you notice the change yourself. If they don't adjusted my bill for 5 months they charge me extra I will call an attorney and see how many more people they have done this too. BAIT & SWITCH! I used the Richmond (Canal St.) site, but my complaint is CORPORATE POLICY that is bad for customers. They offered a $55 promo rate. I asked what is rate AFTER promo? No one knew! The person taking my money said: "It's up to Corporate, but shouldn't be more than 20% per year." NOT! After four months it jumped to $143 per month. That 260%! // Once they have your stuff it's not as easy to do it all over again. They know that. But I WILL MOVE OUT because I 'm not willing to succumb to their false pretense and back stabbing. read more

Manager AJ is quick and professional. Very helpful. This place is conveniently located but has no parking. Good Manager's special where 1st month only $1. And all docs are electronic. Service was great. But does have it's spaces limited given the l patio. The building is over 100 years with a cool/creepy freight elevator, bldg used to be a ford motor co plant. Glad I found it. DO NOT RENT HERE!! Price-gouging a 25% --TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT!!-- rent increase, not even one year in. DO NOT RENT HERE. I specifically asked up-front whether their prices were stable, and was specifically told YES, or small increases, when I rented last June. Their website NOW has an asterisk saying "prices valid for 5 months," but that is new -- and just understand that at 5 months in, they will feel that they can charge you ANY amount of rent. DO NOT RENT HERE!! Also, the reviews on the location's site are obviously full of plants/bots/fakes, as well: 5-star reviews only, 100% from Google, no way to review directly on their site, and ninety percent following the same fakey format, and oh-- none of the negative reviews you can find everywhere else online appear on the location's website. read more

AJ, who's the property manager there is extremely friendly. I had to move my belongings to a storage space to make more room in the house and decided to reserve a space through their online website. I received a call from AJ and was advised to come check the space out to see if it fits my needs. Definitely glad I did because the original space I had reserved would not had fit anything. A few days later, we moved our items and and I just have to say, AJ was not only friendly but he was super helpful. We were having a little bit of trouble moving our bigger items and AJ literally helped us move the bigger items into the storage without any hesitation. This review is for their Uhaul service. I recently moved and rented a Uhaul. IF YOU NEED A UHAUL OVERNIGHT BUT DO NOT WANT TO PAY THE FULL OVERNIGHT FEE, READ THIS: StorQuest's business hours are 9am to 5:30 pm. I reserved my truck for 5pm, the only time they had a reservation available after I got off work. A normal rental includes 4 hrs of time with the truck. Because StorQuest was closed when I was supposed to return it at 9pm, THEY LET ME KEEP THE TRUCK OVERNIGHT FOR THE NORMAL 4 HR FEE. I'm glad this happened. I really thought we were going to be done moving by 8 pm, but sure enough, the last load was driven over to my new place at 3:30 am. The only stipulation was that I had to return the truck by 9 am the next day. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is standard practice, but I still thought it was cool. read more

The facility seemed a bit pricey, but also worth it for the convenience to my neighborhood. A hidden added cost is the required insurance, which was $8 on top of the $103 advertised rate for the locker. Kay runs this branch and is professional, courteous and caring. For a lot of people, their locker is an extension of their home, and Kay makes everyone feel at home. So why 1 star!?! Because I checked out in plenty of time for the November cut-off, but was still invoiced for December. I called accounting as soon as I got the invoice and was assured that my credit card was no longer in their system, so I could safely ignore the invoice. Surprise, when my December credit card statement comes, the auto-pay is still going. I'm not going to recount all the details, but in the end, it took a total of four visits to the facility to discuss and present all of the paperwork that I had fortunately saved, and four phone calls to the company's headquarters -- two of which were to accounting and two of which were to the "District Manager" and were never returned -- before I finally got my $111 refunded. I should have just disputed the charge via the credit card company which would have made it StorQuest's problem not mine and saved me a lot of headache. Moral: save your paperwork, including a copy of your signed and dated checkout form. read more

Got myself in a bind while moving out and didn't make it to the storage unit before it closed. My rental car was due in the morning so my friend had to drop me and all my boxes off, before storquest opened, so that he could return the rental car. We found a place to stash the boxes till Nate got there and opened up shop. I was so relieved, as I revealed my stashed boxes to Nate, that he didn't show an ounce of judgement. He quickly helped me get my boxes inside and in a storage unit returning me to a respectable state and minimizing embarrassment. His humble confidence and assurance let me know that my boxes will be safe till next semester. read more

My friends and I rented a U-Haul van from here. Friendly and quick, the service here was a big plus here. the U-Haul van we rented however wasn't in the best of shape, with mirrors cracked and unadjustable. However, can't really complain because of the price! (it was a 19.99 to rent a truck, with an extra $1.09/mile charged). read more

AJ is awesome. I needed a storage for a month in the summer to get all my apartment stuff in and StoreQuest had the perfect size for me for a competitive price too. It ain't super cheap but AJ will give you a good deal. That guy is pretty cool, make sure you ask him to give you a discount. They also give you 10 day grace period to move out and pay. The elevator got stuck one time and we had to wait hours to get out. Well, if you overlook the mostly working elevator this place is a good to store whatever. read more

Exceptional customer service. Nate and A.J. went all out to help me out of a U-Haul pickle. Another location shafted me on a truck rental, and U-Haul corporate sent me to StorQuest promising that they would have a 14' one-way truck on short notice. StorQuest doesn't do one way moves, and all their trucks were rented, so U-Haul corporate was running me into dead ends. A.J. and Nate came to the rescue. With no chance of making a buck, these guys still got on the phone and found me another location nearby that had what I needed. And they did it like it was no big thing. I can't thank them enough for the help. They are a credit to the u-haul organization in a city that has consistently terrible u-haul experiences. read more

AJ and all the staff are super friendly. I got a 6x8 unit when I moved from the bay to New York; this was sufficient for storing everything from my smallish 3 room apartment. I felt like it was important to keep my stuff around, in case my new gig fell through. Their hours / availability is good; I know it's probably a burden for the employees, but I really appreciate their being around most holidays. Ultimately, keeping things in storage is not a great cost/value proposition in the long term, but for people like me who get attached to things, it's sometimes the best option. And, since my New York apartment is even smaller, being able to go through things and give away what I don't need, instead of moving all at once, has been helpful. Other nice things: there's a bathroom, and if you forget to bring water, the staff might share some. Things that could be better: lights inside the units would be nice. Maybe bring your own if you have a larger unit. Also, as a somewhat tangential packing tip: use smaller (14x14) boxes when possible. Keeping the weight per box down will help reduce back strain, and let you move faster. Cheers! read more

I recommend this location everytime I get asked about renting a storage unit, which is surprisingly often. What makes it so great? 2 things: the manager is awesome and the space is ALWAYS clean. That's it. Go ahead, shop around and try to find another storage location in the East Bay with that simple combo. A lot of places around here suck. The building's design in great too. I really wanted to like this place. The staff here is friendly and the area seems safe. However, my storage unit still got broken into, and my belongings stolen after renting there for around two months. And while the manager tried to help find the culprit, the fact that they don't have cameras on individual floors makes it hard to prove anything. They only have cameras on the ground floor. I shopped around for a while online before I found StorQuest. Their website was easy to navigate to see what units they have available. After utilizing the online chat feature, a representative reserved two units for me at different locations. Soon after, A.J. from the Shattuck location called to see if the storage unit fit my needs and encouraged me to come check it out to visualize the space and see if it would be appropriate for my belongings. I did go by the storage unit and boy was I surprised. The facility was very clean and A.J. showed me around the building and the storage unit, and I was confident all of my belongings would be safe there for the few weeks I was leaving town in between leases. While street parking can be tough, I always found one of the loading bays to be open which was very convenient as I could just back my car right up and pull stuff straight from the trunk to the loading bay. They also provide sturdy carts that you can load up to take up the elevator. The facility seems very secure and well-looked after by A.J. The units are also more spacious than you may imagine because the ceilings are very high. I have a lot of stuff and a 6x8 suited my needs just fine. As another reviewer said, getting boxes for your belongings is a huge benefit because you can easily stack multiple boxes into the units and take advantage of the height. I also appreciated that, while they are not open particularly early or late, the facility is always staffed during business hours,which made me feel safe. I highly recommend this facility. Get in touch with A.J. and he will make sure your needs are met with a smile! Some side notes: The stairwell can be narrow at points, but the freight elevator can fit very large items and furniture, just be aware that opening the freight elevator may be difficult for elderly, injured, or disabled patrons. It is a little heavy and tough on the shoulder. While I bet any employee would be more than happy to help with the elevator, you can pay a little more if you would like a ground floor unit. Just something to be aware of. Explain your needs to the property manager and you shouldn't have any issues. read more
