**CAUTION** Before renting at any storage facility managed by Cubix Asset Management, I would strongly encourage prospective tenants to do their homework and ask a lot of questions. My concerns don't stem from a minor customer service issue. They stem from how Cubix handled the aftermath of a burglary at one of its managed facilities where my property was stolen. As a disabled veteran, many of the items I stored were not simply replaceable household goods. Among the property taken were military awards, memorabilia, service-related keepsakes, and personal belongings collected over years of military service. Some of these items had been with me through multiple duty assignments and major chapters of my life. They carried sentimental value that cannot be measured in dollars and cannot simply be replaced with an insurance payment. After the theft, I spent months attempting to obtain basic information, including insurance contacts, ownership information, preservation of video footage and access logs, and a clear explanation of what happened. The process was frustratingly slow, communication was inconsistent, and getting straightforward answers proved far more difficult than it should have been. The facility advertised security cameras and surveillance. After the burglary, I was informed by the property manager that the camera covering the area of my unit was not functioning or connected to Wi-Fi. Learning that after my property had already been stolen was deeply concerning. I also learned that there had been another break-in in the same area of the facility just days before my unit was burglarized. That raised obvious questions about what additional precautions, inspections, or security checks were performed afterward and whether the advertised daily walkthroughs were actually occurring as represented. What was most disappointing was the lack of urgency and accountability after a customer suffered a significant loss. A theft is stressful enough. Customers should not have to spend months chasing information that should be readily available after an incident, especially when the stolen property includes items that are impossible to replace. In the end, after months of follow-up, the only resolution offered was roughly three months of free rent. While I appreciated that some offer was eventually made, it amounted to very little compared to the value of the property that was stolen and the time spent trying to obtain answers. Rather than providing confidence that the matter had been taken seriously, the offer felt more like an acknowledgment that something had gone wrong without any meaningful effort to make it right. The message I was left with was simple: the loss was significant, but the response was minimal. As a result, I have been forced to pursue the matter in small claims court. If you're considering renting at a Cubix-managed facility, I would recommend asking the following questions before signing a lease: * Who handles theft and loss claims? * How can tenants obtain insurance information if property is stolen? * What procedures exist to preserve surveillance footage and access records? * Are all advertised security cameras actually functioning and connected? * What steps are taken when there is a reported break-in at the facility? * How quickly are customer complaints escalated and resolved? * Who has authority to make decisions when a serious issue arises? I can only speak from my own experience, but based on that experience, I would think carefully before storing anything you would be upset to lose. Renting the unit was easy. Getting answers after a burglary was not. Anyone considering a Cubix-managed facility should spend as much time asking about theft claims, surveillance systems, and incident response as they do comparing rental rates. My review is not based on renting a storage unit here, but on the warmth and helpfulness of the two kind folks I interacted with today. I was meeting someone to buy a desk they had advertised online, and I arrived early. I had to use the restroom, and the gentleman working here re-routed himself in the middle of a task so that he could go and open the restroom for me. On my way back out, the woman asked me if I needed any help wth anything, bags, etc. They both were just so friendly and helpful. Customer service disavowed any responsibility to provide me with a vehicle even though I have a confirmed reservation for a pickup at 2:00 p.m. . I rented a Uhaul through this place, Customer service was great. Talking to the lovely people at the front office helped me feel ready to start my day and a huge move. Equipment was clean and seemed well serviced, after hours drop off was a breeze. I have two storages out in Livermore but had to clear out a workspace this week. My sisters have a unit here and I went online to snag what I thought would just be a quick space. Unfortunately the space was too small for my needs as I underestimated the space I'd need. Everything else was done online and I picked out my access code drive right in and I was disappointed for picking out the smaller unit. Did I end up S.O.L?? Nope the attendant was working with another customer when I walked into the office so o went to confer with my sister about the next options. Before I knew it he came out greeted me and boom problem solved. Went for the larger space, he set it up and transferred everything and honored the web price since I had originally signed up online. Escorted us to the new unit and got the paperwork done by the time I had moved in. When I went to the office there was another lady there and she seamlessly took over while the guy was working with another customer. They are spot on and have the warmest of demeanors. I am already trying to plan out moving out of my other storages and have all of my things here. You cannot beat the type of service you get when you have to problem solve. There was some confusion with the check-in time but thankfully Lonny opened up shop when we arrived and walked us through the process with patience, positivity, and amazing service, all with such a fun attitude at 9AM on a Saturday. why are all the "great" reviews on here for Allsafe after an obviously sincere, bad review? It smells fishy to me! If you get more than three reviews that the people are jerks and can't be trusted, you can usually trust it's not one lone nut job. also notice the response to the negative reviews do not explain this behavior logically, or they ignore the review then another " review" claims the bad review was a crazy person? I was told my lockers were broken into but nothing was stolen "they said!" They know from the security video !!! Please tell me how I'm going to believe this or how I can verify when it was clear my lockers were jam packed and there Was no way to know or prove it! Even if nothing was stolen there was no apology no discount, they put on new locks and they didn't inform me until I went in to get something. Apparently the other lockers had nothing taken as well! Pickiest methhead storage- burglars in existence!!! ( funny how burglars knew what lockers were filled with antiques and entire possession of our homes!!!! Inside job would explain why I wasn't shown footage of intruder or given info on how they entered or got out and was not given a police report number, they didn't bother filing one? Yeah right! The past 2 yrs plus have been great! Saw two separate managent teams and then first of 2019 new resident managers.... ahhh... not so great. I did not know B & J had left, and paid in cash after hrs as I'd done before, knowing B & J were honest. Not knowing a new couple were there, I put cash in mail box at office and they say "they never saw it"...well gee, I wonder what could have happened????? My dad gave me a bunch of rules to follow in life, and one was "never trust anyone named Lonnie!" (Guess his wife Lynn never heard that one). Totally unprofessional, rude and evasive/, inconsistent with answers re: this mysterious cash dissapearance. I did not get much help from the district manager, Cathy, who gave so many lame excuses and possible explanations for the cash dissapearance that I was ready to hear her say it could have walked away... Now a nice situation with the storage place I'm at is ruined, and I got ripped off in the first place. (So that means I paid for the shitty situation I now have there#!?@#) My advice? Take my dad's and go somewhere where thieves (Lonnie & Co) don't work....WTF!? read more

But when I recommended a friend here and she said she was unsure if she was going to rent due to a bad review about the new managers, I had to see what was up. I read the review and it was such a gross defamation of character. The new managers are such a lovely couple and I have nothing but good to say about them. I needed a unit for 6 Months; i shopped around and this place had the best rates. Signing up was fast and easy; the couple that owns and runs it are super nice, and the unit was clean and secure. I set up auto pay because I was going to be out of the country the whole time, and I never had a single issue whatsoever. My stuff stayed dry and safe, but the most amazing thing that prompted this review was the proof of their awesomeness that I received when I moved out. I moved out on a Sunday afternoon. Their office is closed on Sundays, so I called them Monday morning to inform them and formally close my account. They knew exactly who I was and were ready for my call because they apparently did their daily walk of the property Sunday night and noticed that my unit had been cleaned out! THEY WALK THE PROPERTY EVERYDAY, EVEN ON THEIR DAYS OFF, TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS SAFE AND SECURE! I was blown away by their care and attention to detail. I just couldn't believe it. If I ever need to store stuff again I will go out of my way to use Ben and AllSafe in Alameda. Thank you so much for looking after the entire contents of my home so well for me. read more

Highlights: * Thousands of dollars of belongings "stolen" * Incompetent staff and management Stored my belongings here for four months. During that time I was called three separate times to collect my billing info, despite giving it directly to management and asking to be put on auto payment each time. At one point was told I had given my credit card info to someone who hadn't worked at the facility in months...then why is that person picking up your business phone line? When I went to check on my stuff, after they told me there was a break in, it took them ten minutes just to find my account in their system. During that time the staff said they didn't think my unit was one of the ones that had been broken into, instead they thought it was one of the units that had been in the fire. What? You're having fires and robberies? Couldn't be more disappointed with the experience I had here. I highly recommend you put your things anywhere else. Hope this is helpful. read more

Jim and Gloria are gone. And so am I, after four years of being a good patron. New management is in, and they're awful. Short form: I received a demand for payment four or five months ago. I didn't think I owed it; I was on auto-debit from my bank account for the entire time I had been there, and I hadn't changed services. I wrote back inquiring nicely what this was about, and was curtly told to never mind, that their payment demand was in error. OK. That wasn't awful. But three weeks ago I received two letters from them saying, in essence, your two lockers haven't been paid for, pay us now plus ten bucks for each for late fees, or else. I again wrote back via email saying, hey, waitaminnit, I'm on autopay, and have been for years, what's with the demands rather than an inquiry. (I run a business. If a good customer - or a bad one, for that matter - is late, I call and check in, I don't send a letter saying "pay now or else, sincerely, management," because that's RUDE.) We had a back and forth. Them: your autopay didn't work. Me: It's worked fine for four years, it's probably an issue with your management changeover, I'm sorry about that, and am happy to fix it - but after your previous and rude and impersonal "give me money - whoops sorry never mind" correspondence, I'd like you to waive the $20 late fee. Them: we're pretty sure you overdrew your bank account and ran out of $$$ and that's why autopay didn't work and so no, we'll split the late charge with you. Me: Um. WTF. I wrote back, explaining my bank account had continually had plenty of $$$ in it and that they have crap systems and no bedside manner and terrible judgment. I told them I'd immediately pay them what I owed, including that $20 late fee, and that I'd be out by the end of the month. All of which I did. Silver lining: with four hours of work, I moved from a storage place four minutes from my house to a storage place eight minutes from my house, that costs 30% less for the same amount of space, with a more secure facility, friendly people, trucks for rent, a security system that greets me by name. (And a place that hasn't had any fires that made the news, like Allsafe had a couple months before this review was written.) Congratulations, All Safe Storage. You lost a pay-on-time, four-year, easygoing customer by deciding to haggle over ten bucks. I miss Jim and Gloria. They knew how to run a company. I rented a small unit here for 8 months. Everything was professional and courteous. However, an incident occurred that I felt I needed to warn people about. A friend with a pickup truck came to help me move some things. Apparently we did not leave proper clearance in drive space and we needed to move truck. However, instead of asking us, he told us in a harsh way. Ok. So we start moving things out of the way to make space to move truck, and Jim goes into a crazy rant, targeting my friend --- calling him names, moving toward him aggressively and threatening to vacate me. At no time did we argue with or refuse to move. He wanted to pick a fight. I believe Jim is dangerous. The fact that he's always been nice to me (and i am white) and got so aggressively hostile to my friend (who is Latino and covered in tattoos) suggests to me that he is racist. I reported this incident to the owners a few days ago, and have not yet gotten a response. What happened was beyond unprofessional. read more

Lonnie and Lynn were such friendly (and professional) in their customer service skills. They made me feel very secure about my choice to rent a unit. At the same time, very easy to talk to, down to earth hands down good people!!!!!! I had been looking online about a week and knew I wanted a place that just had one level to it. My last place was horrible like a maze with elevators and the wait for anything customer related always took forever! So today I was very pleased to be given 2 choices of very convenient units to pick from and they were prompt with everything despite the fact that the three of us were talking the whole time!!! Gloria and Jim were by far, the nicest and easiest people to do business with. I'm very thankful to have met them in my search for storage space for the school I represent. As the executive VP of the school PTA I had the task of finding a nice, clean storage facility. I visited 7 different locations in Alameda and San Leandro. The personalities of the people I met were friendly for the most part. What set AllSafe apart from the others was their "family style" business environment.
