I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely stay here again. I stayed for a week, and it was a great home base for exploring Stockholm. The breakfast was excellent and something I genuinely looked forward to every morning. The rooms are small, but they're charming, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed to make decent use of the space. I liked hanging out on the little balcony in the mornings. The best part of my stay, though, was the people. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about making my visit enjoyable. They offered great recommendations for places to visit and were proactive about helping improve my experience in ways I didn't expect or ask for. We had a great stay at this hotel last week. The location is fantastic and it is a small boutique hotel with a fun atmosphere. We were staying in the Lily Dam Suite which was perfect for our family of 4. They had the pull out couch completely set up and it was super comfortable for our girls. There are 2 balconies and I will say that if other guests are smoking on their balconies, that the smoke will come over but it only happened once during our stay. The 2 bathrooms in the suite were super convenient and so very pretty. The sink bowls were beautiful the Grown Alchemist brand of toiletries did wonders for our hair. I have an order ready to confirm once we are closer to our return home because it was so fantastic. Breakfast every morning in the restaurant was comprehensive and had everything we could want! We loved the Swedish cheese with orange marmalade! read more

I will guard against comparing this hotel to the ultra luxury pampering that enveloped us in the cruise we came off of in Stockholm - that would be unfair. And yes, I heed the "your understanding will go a long way"... but still. We just needed a layover hotel before flying back. There were a couple of Story hotels with Hyatt affiliation: we chose this for the better location (and therefore a slightly higher price tag) over the Signalfabriken. It is, indeed, well situated - walking distance, not only to the subway (200 yds away), but to the waterfront south, and most of the major tourist hotspots. It is an older building with some of the charms of those olden days: e.g., an elevator where you have to pull the iron gate shut ... yeah - like the one in which Vesper bade farewell in Casino Royale! The room was pretty in an austere way, with modern amenities, but small, as are most European hotels outside of American chains (and sometimes even within). We had the misfortune of being in Stockholm in what used to be a rare heat wave, and again, most hotels that are not owned/operated by American chains do not offer AC. In itself, even that's not a major problem: just open the windows, as evening cools things down considerably. Our "King deluxe" room, as luck would have it, opens to a bar in the courtyard two floors below. When I raised this as a concern, the reception person (manager/owner? She seems familiar with Signalfabriken as well!) assures me that things will quieten down "after about 10 p.m."). When that hour rolled around, I inquired further, by actually going to the bar myself, to be told that things don't really shut down until 11:30, or later. When I pointed out this inconsistency (with the earlier time mentioned), there was nothing to be done. Hotel's now full, and there are no other rooms available even if we're willing to move after bedding down. So, THAT part really left a bit of a bad taste, my 'understanding' notwithstanding. read more

Carefully crafted cocktails, close proximity to chic shops like Filippa K and well designed rooms featuring 100% organic cotton linens (not to mention crazy comfy beds) make this a bolt-hole I could totally love. However, the super spotty wifi at the Story Hotel makes it impossible for me to consider it for a business stay again. Sad though, because it's situated in a stellar spot just steps away from the Stureplan and the food is swoon-worthy (particularly the breakfast buffet which is included in the room rate). If you're headed to Stockholm for an unplugged holiday, it's a sure bet. But if you need to be connected, look elsewhere. read more

I can't blame them for the stay during an intense heat wave, but there is no AC in this cute boutique hotel. My room was more of a Turkish bath..which was miserable. But the WiFi kinda works and the breakfast is ok and there's a lovely backyard patio. So I'd say avoid the dead of summer, otherwise check it out (and don't miss the working birdcage elevator too!). read more

We came to the story hotel bar for a drink before going to Soder. We had a nice time sitting at the bar. I had a few vodka with sparkling water drinks. The service was decent. The best part of our time was discovering the sweet potato French fries. They were one of the best I've ever had! They even came with a truffled aioli. I would eat then daily if I could. read more

Great, boutique hotel in the heart of Stockholm. Very modern - you check yourself in at the front desk of two imacs, get a keycode and go! Rooms are small but very nice. The Wallpaper is art, the beds are comfy and the showers are powerful. Of course FACE Stockholm provides all the toiletries so that's a nice touch too. There is free breakfast included and plenty of free coffee and wifi all day long. TIP: Ask for a room high-up or on the other side than the bar. The bar turns into a nightclub until about 1 am and the music.does.not.stop. They do supply ear-plugs if you want them, and they are neon pink! The bar has great lunch and cocktails and seems to be a very happening place to be after work! read more

We spent 5 days in the Lily Dam Suite. The hotel looks lovely, and has the novelty (and cost cutting exercise) of asking guests to check themselves in. This is all very easy, but as the hotel has a popular bar and restaurant, there is no way of telling who is a guest and who is a customer. You do encounter staff, but there is no sense that they recognise you as a guest. It all feels a bit lacking somehow. The Lily Dam Suite (room 511) isn't as big as the pictures on the website suggest. There was just a standard clothes rail with a few hangers for storage. There were 3 TVs, but one wasn't tuned in and another didn't work at all. The balconies were grimy and dirty and felt more like you had just crawled out onto the roof. One had a drain pipe that actually fed water into the middle of the balcony. The water then just collected and eventually seeped away. Both balconies are in desperate need of painting. The mini bar was an empty fridge with a note saying that we could buy stuff to put in it. The bed was king size, but with two child size, thin, single duvets, and the flattest pillows I've ever seen. In the 5 days we were there, the room was made up twice, but the complimentary Face toiletries were never replenished. It would be best to bring your own. When we checked out, we left our bags and had a last 6 hours in Stockholm. During this time we got caught in the most torrential rain storm. We limped back to the hotel literally soaked to the skin. We found a member of staff. She looked at us and said 'Oh. You want your bags?'. With water running down our faces, we asked if we could possibly use a room to change in and dry our hair. She said no but that we could use the public toilet in the restaurant. Having spent £320 a night for 5 nights, I had hoped for a little better service. When we finally left, the girl was still there. She looked at us but said nothing. We won't be returning to Story. The hotel is more like a fancy hostel. There are no amenities. No gym. Extremely weak WiFi that cuts out every 20 minutes. Indifferent staff. There is no wow factor. Room Tip: Don't get flash and fork out for the most expensive rooms. Just use it as a place to sleep. read more

ARRIVAL I have stayed at this hotel since it opened a few years ago. A few changes. They now have a front desk person it used to be that you had to check in your self so this is very helpful. BREAKFAST One of the more disapointing things is that the breakfast seems to be allot smaller than it used to be. I know hotel needs to save money but the breakfast was so great and it used to be up to bar of either Diplomat Hotel or Hotel Plaza (Vassa Eggen). Now its just so so.... ROOMS Standard small Swedish Hotel room. Unless you go out of your way to ask to get new bed linens each day they will just make your bed... We've been traveling all week and this was our fave hotel. I love everything about it. The staff were always friendly and warm. We really appreciate the heated bathroom floors and the la bruket toiletries. So much so that I want them in my home! The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. The location perfect as it was just across the station and lots of restaurants. The bar downstairs was friendly. We followed a lot of the recommendations from their website and spent a couple hours at the sturebadet spa for a treatment. This is my favorite hotel in Stockholm, and I've stayed at quite a number. Story is a fun and cool boutique hotel located in the best part of Stockholm, steps away from the best restaurants, bars, shopping and clubs. Staying here saved me tons of time that would have been spent walking or taking cabs (expensive) - you're right by all the great things Stockholm has to offer. The room itself was nice and also somewhat eccentric. There were interesting art pieces on the walls, a massive bathroom (the largest I've ever seen in Sweden) and a good sized sleeping area. Free wifi was a nice touch as many places charge you extra for it. The staff was all very courteous and nice to me at every step. They also knew the good places to recommend and looked things up online for me. I am an extremely noise sensitive person but did not have an issue here. I asked for a quiet room when reserving and again at check in. They put me on the second floor and I really didn't hear anything the whole time. Maybe I was in a different wing from where the bar area is. The bar at the Story is popular and a fun place to meet up with friends for drinks. A number of my friends mentioned that they go to the Story for drinks, so they thought it was cool that I was staying there. Breakfast here was great - way better than what you usually get at Swedish hotels. You have a lot of selection to choose from including fresh fruit, good bread, cereal, pastries etc. Solid! If you want a fun, upscale and urban hotel, I think the Story Hotel is a great choice. read more

This should be a 5 star review, I WANTED this to be a 5 star review... If I come back to Stockholm for pleasure, I would definitely stay in this hotel. I love the location, the decor is great, warm and industrial, the cocktails at the bar are delicious, the food is top notch and the lift even has a customised announcement at each floor - 'My Name is Luca, I live on the Second Floor" for example. However, if I come back on a business trip, I just cannot stay here as the internet connection is awful, sometimes non-existent and means that it is completely impossible to do any work in the hotel. I have stayed here twice now, the first time they said they were experiencing issues with the network but it was only for a couple of days. I came back about a month later and it was exactly the same. Even though they did send up a router specifically for me in my room, the internet still didn't work. Such a shame, this is a great place, but something as simple and as basic as the lack of a good internet connection really ruins the whole experience for me as a business traveler. Please fix this, I want to come back, I would come back, but until it is fixed, I can't come back. read more

The Story Hotel is busy, buzzing and full of energy. Situated at Riddargatan 6 the location is perfect for partying, shopping or lounging in central Stockholm and Östermalm. I also like the location for doing business - you can walk to most places from here. Story Hotel is every bit the bohemian chic they state on their website. Parties, design, art and food feature an exiting nightlife at the bar and the restaurant is equally good. Rooms are not large but they feature everything you will need and the decor is great. Especially love the glass wall bathrooms. The decor and ambiance of the hotel reminds me of ACE hotel in New York. Perfect for weekend get aways, art travel - but also for those business trips when you do need some action around you and try to avoid the mini-bar syndrome. read more

We loved our stay here. This is a fantastic boutique hotel. It's in the new funky hipster style, but in a really good way. This place works. Our room was excellent. It had everything, even complimentary drinks in the fridge on arrival. The room is nicely spacious and very comfortable. The bed excellent. The breakfast here is fantastic. If I could take one breakfast around with me to any hotel, it would be this one. It was outstanding, and shows that a great hotel breakfast is about quality not quantity. Finally, the real heroes of this place are the staff. The young people on reception here are absolutely outstanding, the equal of any staff we have encountered anywhere in the world. We had dealings with five of them from memory, male and female. Gosh they're good. They are smart, resourceful, efficient and unfailingly polite and cheerful. A major asset to any business. No matter what we raised - directions, tourist tips, requests for hot water, ice and even a new pillow - our requests were met every time and quickly and typically with a smile and a happy comment. Congratulations to these young stars, they are exceptional. We had a wonderful stay here and loved Stockholm. We would love to stay here again one day. read more

For drinks, this place is really great! I love the outdoor seating area. It reminds me a lot of a few late nights in Manhattan and Brooklyn NY! The interior is chic and is a nice place to invite people for cocktails. It made me miss a lot of the posh bars back home that you can just chill in without having to watch people dance to crappy music all night. However, I do have to mention that I would not recommend eating here. I once ordered the fish and chips, and seriously regretted that decision on the first bite. The fish was absolutely too salty to eat (and I love lots of salt, usually). I thought that I had pissed off the waiter or something, like it was a joke on me! But, nope, another person ordered the same thing and spit it out into a napkin because it was so bad. The "chips" part of the meal was a whole 3 miniature potatoes and what I think was a few microscopic parsnips. =( so not cool. read more

I would like to be able to make this a much better review as there is much to recommend about the Story Hotel. It's clean, well kept, funky and offers a cozy restaurant for breakfast and general hanging out during the day. The problem here, as noted in other reviews, is the noise. The bar and ground floor on Friday and Saturday nights run loud and DJ-driven til 1am... which is great if you want to party but lousy if you are traveling for business and need sleep. My room, as I write this, is quite literally buzzing with bass music thumps coming through the floor - and this despite having called down both tonight and last night to ask if it could be turned down... to no visible avail despite promises to the contrary. The owners of this hotel need to decide if they want to run A - a hotel or B - a nightclub. For now, there simply should not be rooms on the first floor. Perhaps all this can be fixed with some insulation or some other solution - but until it is the hotel is not living up to its potential. The offer of ear plugs is not a solution, by the way - the room is vibrating. read more

Stayed here for the first time in Stockholm over New Years. We had been traveling a lot during the days leading up to being here, and were really needing a comfortable place to call home for a few days. From the moment we walked in and looked around, we felt like we were in the right place. It reminded us of home (Los Angeles) (in a good way) but also felt very Stockholm. The room was nice and the bed was by far the best bed we had been in during our Scandinavian tour. The complimentary water stocked and refilled in the fridge was also a nice touch that I think hotel guests will always appreciate. The longer we stayed and the more and more we walked around, we realized the location was perfect. There is a lot to discover in every direction, especially in Gamla Stan, which is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the front door. The best part for my new fiancé and I during our stay here was the staff, especially the guys in bar. They took care of us and made sure we had a table during the New Year's Eve events. They were very hospitable and hardworking, and we had a great time. We fell in love with Stockholm with a lot of help from The Story Hotel. We hope to come back again sometime soon read more

I have stayed here on two different occasions. The decor is nice, breakfast decent, bathrooms clean and well stocked. The staff has always been friendly but not always that helpful, I hate to say but it seems like looks are more important than actual experience/skill to get a position in the reception but at least that seems to go for both sexes so good on them for not discriminating. + Good for business trips and couples weekend. + Very nice and fresh bathrooms. + Nice clean and comfy crib for small children (which is not always the case even in nicer hotels). + Lots of options for breakfast. - Not very suitable for families, even the larger rooms are quite small and the vibe dosen't really cater to kids. - Seems to attract mostly middle aged media workers. - No dedicated parking. Street parking can be hard to get if you arrive after 6pm. read more

We stayed here after an awful experience with Airbnb, and I'm so glad this place was still available - the rooms aren't huge but cosy enough for you to have an experience to remember. The tiles are heated too, and you'll be tempted to spend your days indoors, trust me! The shower room has everything you need, with minty shower gels, shampoo and conditioner. The breakfast is amazing, and you should definitely wake up in time to make the most of it. read more

Thinking about my stay makes me wish I were back in Stockholm! This hotel is so worth it. First of all, you really can't ask for a better location. Second, the free breakfast is great - all different kinds of coffee and tea, delicious baked goods, smoked salmon, pate, etc. Third, the ambiance of the place is really fun. It's an art-centric, boutique kind of feel, which is just plain cool! There's even a hip bar downstairs. We didn't have any issues with noise or getting to sleep, but we were a few floors up. The rooms are small, but they do the job. Loved the FACE toiletries. We didn't have any issues with Wi-Fi in the room, but we didn't use it that much. this place was very dissapointing, we booked a room with 2 beds when we went into the room there was only one. so they brought in a cot that was extremely uncomfortable. also the rooms face a back courtyard where they have bar patio that plays euro rap all night super loud even if people are not there. breakfast was good though, but avoid the restaurant because its really bad. worst meal we had the whole trip, would rather eat at 7/11 and it cost us about $130 so yeah dont go there. read more
