What is Hudson really, without a place like this?! We were tipped off about it by a local shortly…read moreafter we moved here and are grateful to be members of this incredible community. What a miracle this place is, really. Fascinating, meaningful programming and events. I find myself thinking that there might not be another place quite like this anywhere on the planet; it truly deserves the word "unique". We love to browse the art gallery before or after a show and, embarrassingly, have yet to check out the bookstore. Sure, some of the seating isn't plush but there's couch type seating and if you're a movie lover who focuses on more than your hiney, there's plenty to love. Don't just go, join and support this treasure of an institution. My only gripe, which may not be real, is that someone told me there was a swing dance event here and I didn't hear about it.

They have an extensive number and wide range of books, including art books, most in very good or better condition. The organization is largely by subject (and even then, assignment to a particular subject area seems somewhat whimsical), but within categories, they are not well sorted - so it does take some time to browse. Pricing is a very modest flat fee, given the condition and rarity of some titles (currently $4 per hardcover, $3 per paperback). Thus it's possible to find many titles, including first editions, well under typical pricing found elsewhere. The staff people are really nice. When bagging up my purchase, one of the larger tomes ripped the paper bag slightly, so the staff person got some gaffer's tape to repair the bad and prevent it from continuing to rip apart. Thank you, TSL!

We kindly asked if they could be turned off once the movie was well underway because we, again, were the only ones in the theater, and they were distracting. We were told that it would take 20 minutes to turn them off, so the answer was a no, which was sort of understandable. However, the tipping point for me personally was that there was so much refuse, including old candy, popcorn, and other concessions, all over the carpet in every direction- almost asking for a rodent infestation. The tape used to hold parts of the stairs to the upper seating area together was half off. The seats were so filthy that brown stains of oil and soil were visible on all of them throughout Theater 3. I was honestly afraid of rodents throughout the whole movie since there was so much food covering the floor. Please use a vacuum at least once a day; it's a health hazard for the community otherwise. I say this as a concerned parent and caring community member. The place is absolutely filthy.

I sat down alone for a film particular time and 10 min later it hadn't started went out to tell staff. Then when film started after commercials the lights went on so had to go out again to tell him to ask person to get the lights off. A couple next to me kept chatting off and on disrupting my focus laughing at inappropriate times really annoying no movie etiquette. Anyway the seats and restroom perfect very clean !! Will return

Most theaters opened up again in New York State September/October 2020 for Theatre never reopened, except for a few pop-ups done by upstate films. But then they did get a grant from New York State and did a beautiful renovation. It's now a non-for-profit theater. The people running it are really very dedicated caring people. They really love film and theaters like this that were built and located in downtown all across the United States in the 1920s 1930s 1940s 1950s Is it a fantastic job with the renovation in the lobby. All around the theater Downstairs the main theater has 500 seat seats and a nice big curtain used when the movie begins. It opens up, closes when the movie ends the credits. Upstairs has 150 seat seats Both theaters the seats are quite comfortable, even though they are the old style smaller seats compare compared purchase theaters that have large or more modern seats The projection in each theater is clear and crisp for the sound very good too They show a mix of first run films. Classic films, foreign and more art house type movies. Also that are very good that you can't see at the Multiplex theaters They have different levels of membership that you can. Choose to purchase. Tuesday is bargain night $5 So if you live in Catskill or any of the towns surrounding Catskill. Even if you're 20 or 30 minutes away, definitely come to Catskill. Browse around at the shops like the bookstore Records store other shops could eat in a restaurant before or after the movie. The community theater is a real GEM. It needs your support as an independent nonprofit Theatre.

We speedily & efficiently bought our reasonably priced tickets and headed that way. What a delight! It was comfy and they offered your typical munchies of popcorn, candies, sodas and even canned beer. I thought the seats were comfy too and I was just so thrilled that we have a movie theatre so close! I highly recommend that people go! Support this business so it can keep its doors open!!! Better version of Chuck E Cheese…read more The best part of the trip to Xtreme Play was the strapped in aerial obstacle course. Geared towards the younger crowd, adults can partake in the play which was pretty cool. There was enough excitement from the various obstacles to provide a thrill, old and young alike. This was definitely the highlight of the entertainment center. Safety wasn't an issue and there was enough supervision even with the additional risks. There are many arcade games but 1/3 of the games seemed to be out of order for my trip. Not sure if that is because of the package my group paid for. Honestly most of the games were stale. The bumper cars were of the kiddie variety and used levers for movement instead of a steering wheel so it was a little less bump which takes away some of the fun. The overall drive space was smaller so the bumps were more like nudges. The scary 3D movie experience also didn't provide the thrill I was expecting. The aroma of buttery popcorn is very prevalent everywhere in the center, so much so that I swear it's on purpose to make you buy popcorn. The pizza was not impressive but I suppose standard for the course. During my visit the wait for the concession lines were really long. The floors were well cleaned and maintained which is a nice change from the normal food stained floors of most kiddie entertainment centers.

Considering the fact that 3 hours of unlimited attractions is $43 on its own, the Level Up package is a deal! Plus, I don't have to limit my kids' activities so everyone is happy. My boys loved the Dark Ride, which is an interactive ride with shooting elements, and the bumper cars. There was also a ropes course, rock wall, ninja warrior course, and a ballocity play area. The only bummer was that the mini bowling was out of order, and I know my sons would have loved that.
