There is no Dietitian on staff to make recommendations for her or any other clients. "Everyone eats the same foods" is what I was told. Needless to say she retained a lot of fluid that creates life threatening issues. From talking to others a lot of rehab / skilled nursing facilities are like this so be diligent and do your homework. The building is newer than other places, well maintained, staff is good for the most part. Upon discharge we were instructed that she needs to wear compression socks. During her stay staff never put any on my sister. Makes no sense.

The rooms were really great too. They are much larger than any other facility we visited in Kalamazoo and had high ceilings, ceiling fans and very nice Kitchenettes. We had the chance to have lunch when we visited and the buffet had great salad and soup in addition to multiple entree choices. My dad loved the food. Plus staff helped bring the food to the table and helped with drinks too. As I said, great staff. Tammy gave us a great tour. They did not have a room available for a couple so we couldn't make it work, but we wish we could. Additionally the resident population is about 75% retired nuns who were all very kind and friendly. On premise sanctuary would have been loved by my mom. I highly recommend this facility if you're considering a place for assisted living. Great rooms, great staff, great food, AND it was also the best value financially.

The main issue I've had is unsanitary behavior.in the men's locker room. Despite all the signs about washing before getting in the hot tub or cold plunge and wearing proper swim attire, guys (particularly under 25 yo crowd) will routinely use the sauna or steam room, and then hop right in the hot tub or cold plunge with nothing but underwear. Even worse, they throw their underwear in the swim suit water extractor. The locker rooms often smell like sewage. I've even been swimming laps only to see a bunch of high school or early college aged males jumping in the pool with only underwear... there were little kids at the pool! I spoke up that time, and they actually were surprised saying they had done it multiple times. Staff has been informed but does not enforce. The response I've received is, "it's above my pay grade." Upper level management and female staff seem to care more about this, but nothing has been done that actually fixes the issue. Apart from this it would be a 4/5 rating overall.
