The exterior and grounds are consistently well tended & lovely. Also, it is small for facilities like this, which I like. Nobody wants to live in a place that feels like a sprawling impersonal warehouse. Nice, flat, wide, well maintained sidewalk out front. Great for fresh air and walking except when nearby Canada geese decide to make it their toilet. Maybe the groundskeeper could hose that off occasionally. It's sometimes, but not always, a problem. I don't recall if they keep it shoveled during winter, which local ordinances usually require. I spoke with two staffers one time just after dusk when they were outside on break. The women were friendly, polite, and good conversationalists. (I have a calm, friendly dog, so most people brighten up when they meet us.) They were not smoking. I asked both how long they'd worked there. One said a year, the other 5. The average length a worker spends in a job these days is about 4 years, according to the US Department of Labor. The view out the windows is lovely -- much wild greenery as a buffer between this place and countless condo and apartment complexes that surround it. Typically, after dark, 3 people seem to be on staff because I consistently see 3 vehicles parked there after 9 PM. Weekends daytime is the most popular time guests visit; so, if you want to skip a thundering horde, weekdays between 1 and 4 PM, and between supper and 8 PM are probably better times to visit. There's also a well tended big lawn in back where one can go if kids need to run and burn up energy. Or maybe bring a bocce or croquet set and play with the resident you visit. If the resident isn't physically up to that, and you have children with you, it's a nice place to just sit out and chat while kids have fun with whatever yard toys they bring.

There is no Dietitian on staff to make recommendations for her or any other clients. "Everyone eats the same foods" is what I was told. Needless to say she retained a lot of fluid that creates life threatening issues. From talking to others a lot of rehab / skilled nursing facilities are like this so be diligent and do your homework. The building is newer than other places, well maintained, staff is good for the most part. Upon discharge we were instructed that she needs to wear compression socks. During her stay staff never put any on my sister. Makes no sense.

Plus staff helped bring the food to the table and helped with drinks too. As I said, great staff. Tammy gave us a great tour. They did not have a room available for a couple so we couldn't make it work, but we wish we could. Additionally the resident population is about 75% retired nuns who were all very kind and friendly. On premise sanctuary would have been loved by my mom. I highly recommend this facility if you're considering a place for assisted living. Great rooms, great staff, great food, AND it was also the best value financially.

They owner shocked me when he responded to my online inquiry almost immediately! He then scheduled to come out and meet with my parents and I to explain his company and see if this is something that would work for me. Normally we would probably interview at least a couple different agencies before deciding on one, But he left us with such a confident feeling that this is exactly what we want. The owner himself is very involved in every aspect of the company and has a relationship with the various workers so you are not just sent strangers to care for you. We began right away. I have had many experiences with different agencies, but this one has blown me away. The caregivers are never late, I have never had Her not show us up, cancel on me last minute, etc. They are really willing and able to do whatever it is that they can to help you. I never hear things like, the agency really doesn't allow us to do that, when it comes to things like cutting toenails, shaving legs or armpits, help me with my medication, etc. I use a Hoyer lift to transfer from my bed to my power chair, and doing thisyour with only one person can really be challenging but it hasn't been a problem. The owner of continues to stay in contact with us which makes us comfortable with everything. Another thing to point out, the owner knows the caregivers, So you don't have to worry about being sent out just some stranger off the street.
