My mother recently moved into StoryPoint's independent living apartments. She has a lovely 2 bedroom with a balcony. I was very impressed with the size of the apartment. She brought enough furniture to make it cozy but not overly crowded. She also has a carport and even brought her cat, Garfield. She has bi-weekly housekeeping but does her own laundry as her apartment came with a washer & dryer. The maintenance team has been responsive - hanging TV and pictures. She just loves it there and has made many new friends. She participates in the activities that she is interested in - bingo, music, outings, and the happy hours. Every day when I speak to her, she tells me what all they had for dinner and that everything is so good. Normally it is normally a choice of soup or salad, choice of 2 or 3 entrees that come with 2 sides, and a choice of dessert. I had dinner in the StoryPoint's dining room a few nights ago and I do have to say it was pretty good. My pork tenderloin was moist, the mashed potatoes were prepared just like I like them, and the dessert was delicious. She made the decision to move, and it has been a blessing to both her and to her family to know she is in a safe environment, surrounded by new friends, and that she is happy. read more

Our family moved our father to Storypoint in April, 2021, and we moved him out at the end of June. It was was a very traumatizing experience for my father and for all family members. The memory care unit is very short staffed, often with just one care giver for 20 residents. It is hard to keep all residence safe when the ratio is 20 to 1. My father, who is wheel chair/ bed bound, suffered falls, etc. Many of the caregivers there pulled me aside and apologized for the short staffing and the inability to take care of the residents. My father is on hospice and each time there was an incident regarding my father his case manager documented it, as required by law. Unfortunately, Story Point did NOT.....no record to be found. When hospice staff inquired, the response was, "there was no incident". We learned a big lesson.....the way things "look" and the way things "are" are two very different things. I believe the independent living side is fine and perhaps assisted living, but memory care is not. Please do not send your loved one to memory care at Story point. Our Father is now at North Woods Village and it is night and day!! They are staffed, competent, kind, and extremely caring. We feel very, very blessed that we are able to get dad into this wonderful facility. read more

Beautiful Community, poorly built! Will not stand the test of time! Executive management is poor. HUGE turnover, they are selling you things they can't and don't have any intention on delivering! Sad that they have those residents by the tail, as most will not ask their loved ones to move them again! I really think that's what they bank on. Do not work for them, they have horrible ethics and if you question it "you will not be a good fit"! There is not one Director there that opened with them! In less than a years time! Story Point is a brand new beautiful facility. From the moment one walks in the front door you can see that every care was taken so it doesn't feel like senior living. The common areas are beautifully decorated. Amenities include library and computer room, small store, lovely dining room, a coffee shop, and a bistro. The food in the bistro was delicious and beautifully plated. In addition, there are ample nooks for sitting, reading a book or just relaxing. The second floor houses a theater and game room with pool table and game tables for checkers, chess, or board games. I am sure I am missing items, but if you are checking senior living places, please add this to your list. I have been actively involved in helping my parents, age 87 and 92, select a place to live. My husband and I visited seven places and presented the information to them. After visiting Story Point they decided this was the place for them. A couple of tips to help in the transition. First, the Sales department's job is to lease apartments. Don't be swayed by everything you are told. The difference in attitude between the first pre-lease visit and the walk through of the apartment was night and day. Be sure that the Sales department and the office/lease department are on the same page. Three things led to some confusion for my parents and I was glad I was there to help them through this. 1st, the price changed. I questioned it and luckily, they granted the price, but explained that every apartment has a different price. I would suggest getting a quote in writing before the lease signing. Next, the sales office said they could take possession one day and lease had the next day. Not a big deal except my parents wanted a day to go in and move a few things, measure for things such as shower curtain, counter top for microwave placement, etc.and decide on furniture placement before the scheduled movers came. It just required an adjustment on my parents part, which isn't easy at their age. Last, no microwave is included in the apartment and my parents asked twice about having an over the stove microwave installed. No problem, Story Point maintenance could do that. After the lease was signed they were informed that maintenance at Story Point would not be able to do it because cupboards would need to be moved and a licensed contractor hired to do so. Again, not necessarily a big deal, but again any changes with the senior population can lead to stress. My advice is to have things put in writing. I was glad my husband and I were present for the meetings because we could help them process the information when they got overwhelmed. Hopefully, these things are just the pains of getting up and running as it is a new facility. I believe this will make my parents life better. The social interactions, the physical activity and the availability of transportation and meals are all positives. The relief I feel knowing that my parents are in a beautiful, safe, place is worth the very few confusions they went through. read more

The facility and apartments are lovely and many amenities are included in the rent. Pricey but not any more so than the other upscale facilities in town. There is not nearly enough handicap parking, 6 spots at the very front entrance, which are filled most of the time and are out in the open. Plan to park nowhere near anything but the front entrance and the word near is relative. Covered carport parking, which is at the side entrances, is at a premium and you won't be able to get a space unless someone relinquishes it. The wait list must be huge. There is a shopping cart at the front entrance so you could unload groceries, etc., and take them to your apartment but if you're parking at the front of the building it's just a hassle to get stuff in. Unless it's an emergency don't expect maintenance to respond to requests quickly. It took my dad three months to get a mirror hung. The dining is good but service is sketchy. Wrong orders and running out of a particular food seems to be a consistent problem. I would probably review this as *I'm a fan* if they would only address the parking problems, which they don't seem to want to do. read more
