I will start with background observations. This is a very pleasant and typical Portuguese bakery. It is NOT a French bakery, nor Italian or Brazilian. Any proper Portuguese bakery must make fresh loaves of sweet bread. Yes, this bakery has the requisite homemade sweet bread (a note: growing up in Rhode Island, where there is a substantial Portuguese population, I had Portuguese sweet bread all the time--try it for French toast--but I have not yet tried Stoughton bakery's). And it has delicious custard tarts, and egg tarts, too. And they have Portuguese fried dough (it has a name in Portuguese, which I can't remember!) which is chewy and sugary, and has a gentle hint of lemon. Yum. It's on a side street very near the Stoughton MBTA station. It's a small and very clean place, with somewhat limited offerings, but everything I have had is the real deal. The woman who works there is a kind and gentle sort, and the prices are super affordable. I will note that it may be around a 3.5, but I rounded it up to 4 stars, as I was very happy to find this! read more

I'm betting that they won't be out of business within a year. They advertise themselves as a bakery they have pictures of decorated cakes on their website, but when you go in there they don't have a cake decorator, but they're trying to teach themselves. But they can only do very simple cakes. They try to pretend and present themselves is knowing more than they actually know. And when asked about why they're misleading they get defensive and rude and catty. One of them finally looked at me and said well are you a cake decorator?? And I had to tell her that yes, in fact, I have. For example they don't know that fondant isn't really edible (safe to eat, but unpleasant). Also when I told her the color of the frosting I want she just kind of got very judgmental about it and rude. Given the whole thing I think they'll be gone in a year or less. read more

We entered Stoughton Bakery to get Portuguese bread and saw unique muffins, including some made with Oreos. My husband mentioned they looked like the ones we used to get at Bob's. We were pleasantly surprised when the woman behind the counter overheard us, pointed to a sign, and explained they were made from Bob's recipes. She said they were finishing up some Valentine's Day-themed muffins and went out back to get them. We ordered Portuguese corn bread, which I believe she said is called Broa, Portuguese rolls, that were soft and delicious, a coconut and an orange custard that didn't seem like custard but were delicious, flan, and muffins. There is a small seating area but we took our goodies to go. The Blueberry Blizzard with a brown sugar crumble topping, dusted with confectioners sugar was delicious. The Red Velvet with cream cheese and Chocolate-covered Strawberry muffins were a sweet dessert. Perfect for a Valentine's Day treat! We've missed Bob's Muffin Shop in Columbian Square, South Weymouth, and wish their family well. We will definitely return to Stoughton Bakery. read more

I love a good egg custard tart, especially one from a good HK-style bakery. But if I want a change of pace, I'd go for a Portuguese egg tart. I've had good ones in HK and California, but there aren't that many places around here for the Portuguese variety. Now I have a place to get my Portuguese egg tart fix. However, this one here has the Portuguese version and it's very good. The tart has a crispy flaky crust while the egg filling has a nice texture, though not as eggy as ones in Macau. It's not oily or curdled like a scrambled egg. The filling is also not too sweet and has a evenly browned top. Service is friendly and everyone seems to be happy when they come here. There are a variety of other Portuguese (and regular American) bakery fare. The store is near the commuter rail on a side street. It's a tiny joint with a few seats, so you're likely going to do takeout. read more

I've had multiple trips to this bakery which is located right by the commuter rail station and parking lot in a very convenient spot. There's plenty of traffic on Wyman Street and you cannot miss this place. As a commuter, I was intrigued and while my first few trips were to grab a quick pastry to go, things evolved in my hitting the place up for lunch a few times. The owner is really nice and there appears to be a significant amount of regulars there, each with their own nicknames. Most seem to be Portuguese and the owner greets everyone with a big smile. My wife and I were not big fans of the baked goods which we found rather bland, or in some cases, nearly burnt. This included their egg custard, cookies and a few of their small pies. However, baked goods aside, I've however had an amazing few experiences ordering their Portuguese kale soup (Caldo Verde) as well as their Linguiça sandwiches. The Linguiça for those who aren't familiar with it is a Portuguese, smoked pork sausage which has garlic, paprika and all kinds of other delicious spices. It's super tasty and they serve it grilled, split and covered in cheese. Amazing. As a local resident I very much look forward to more trips to grab those delicious sandwiches, some Caldo Verde soup or some breakfast sandwiches, however I'm not sure that I'll go back to trying their baked goods which I found underwhelming. The service is great, the prices are affordable and there's some parking both on Wyman Street as well as in the MBTA lot adjacent to it. They also have a a good selection of drinks as well as a few other Portuguese goods on the shelves and they also have a few tables available to patrons as well. read more

Stopped by after reading the great reviews and will not be going back. The baked goods were OK, nothing to write home about. Picked up cookies, mini cheese cakes and Portuguese malasadas. I love malasadas and have had my fair share through the years. These were tasteless even with sugar sprinkled on them, almost like they were missing something. The bakery is near the train station and would suffice to grab something to eat while heading into the city. Other than that, it would not be my go to for baked goods. read more

This family run bakery has the best customer service in the world. I stopped by here to grab some egg custard tarts ($1.07 a piece with tax)for family and friends. The ladies behind the counter greeted me as if they have known me for years. If I can, I would hire all of them to run my business. It clearly shows the family takes pride in what they do and they love their customers. A++ I bought 5 egg custard and 2 honey custard. Everyone who tasted it said the pastry is nice and flaky, the filling is smooth but a tad on the sweeter side. It's a personal preference but all in all, they said those egg and honey custard were very well made. They ran out of the crazy 8 (Danish pastry) but no problem. Just have to return another day to get them. The store also offer freshly baked loaf, Portuguese muffins, yeast bread rings, cakes n etc. I saw on the menu they have breakfast sandwiches, and come lunch time, pizza, sandwiches, and soups as well. I would definitely return to grab more baked goods for them whenever I am in the area. If you have not been here, drop by and say hi to the ladies. Bring a friend. What a fantastic bakery. We had lived in Stoughton for a year before trying it. Won't make that mistake again! We have tried numerous pastries, cakes and pies, and everything has been excellent. I absolutely love the Portuguese dessert cups, the creme horns, the eclairs, pretty much everything we have sampled thus far. We picked up a cherry pie for Thanksgiving and you could taste the care put into making it - and worth every penny. Sure we could have gotten one at a supermarket for a few dollars less, but who wants storewide pies that use canned fruit? I'll spend more for actual homemade pie that k you. And the apple pie... Maybe one of the best we've had. We'll be visiting much more often for sure! I can't wait to try some of the breads and the Portuguese muffins. read more

I am excited to be the first to review this fine bakery! Its a staple Portuguese bakery having all the finest goodies like Bifans sandwichs, portugues breads, rolls and tons of items for the sweet tooth. There is a few tables in the bakery that allows you to grab a warm or cold drink and enjoy your goodies right there. Dont forget to grab a Sumol drink out of the frig. yummmmy!! I will def be back the only reason i give 4 stars and not 5 is due to parking and the ease of getting to the location. With all the one way streets and only side street parking us country girls become slightly challenged sometimes. The young gentleman there is named Lino is such a pleasant young man and he works there with his mother. This is just a nice homey spot with a personal touch! read more

I just started going to Stoughton Bakery last year when I started commuting to Boston and what a breath of fresh air. The women who run the store in the morning are amazing. After just a few visits they greeted me by name. They never rush anyone unlike other places like Dunkin Donuts where they rush to take your order so they can get to the next person. Stoughton Bakery gets to know their customers. Not only is their customer service awesome but they have a huge pastry and fresh bread selection. I am pretty sure they make everything fresh on site and you can tell. Everything is delicious. Although it is a little shop, it is located right next to the commuter rail station which is a perfect location for everyone catching the train to Boston. I look forward to going there in the morning because these ladies always greet me with a smile and help me start my day off. read more

Great little bakery. Really good cookies and a 10/10 bacon egg and cheese served on a home-made buttered Portuguese roll. I loved their cookies but very much disliked their flake pastries. Worst cream horn I've ever had.

So glad we live down the street from this place. It's a great little neighborhood bakery, with incredible Portuguese pastries and breads. Stopped in recently to pick up bread and dessert for a soup lunch at work, and got cookies, custard, honey and coconut tarts, and a corn/wheat bread whose name I've forgotten. All got rave reviews from colleagues. The staff are also incredibly friendly: Owner Ann Azul has an great memory for names and faces, and never fails to ask after our family when I stop in. The location in the center of town steps away from the train station also makes it an easy place to stop for breakfast in the morning. read more

I am rating based solely upon service and the quality of their breads and muffins -- both are just that noteworthy. Bolinhas! Bolos Levedos! Sweet Bread! yUm! A great family-run establishment with warm, courteous, and prompt service is an asset to any town. This place does not disappoint. If you seek the perfect roll to serve with your favorite homemade soup, try the crusty, light Pops. If you want an interesting platform for your lobster or crabmeat salads, check out their unusually fluffy hamburger rolls. If you want a completely different spin on Eggs Benedict, swap grilled bolos levedos for the english muffins and nix the ham for some killer Linguica or Chourico. This bakery is AMAZING in every way! Not only is the bread delicious, but their pastries are better than my mom's (she even admitted to that!). I stop at Stoughton Baking Co every day for breakfast and love getting some pastries to bring to work. I'm not done yet! They also have the best ice coffee in town.
