If you get the large I would say you are basically buying a quart of ice cream in a cup. Pros: They are busy for a good reason. When you say the words "Premium ice cream" you are describing Crescent Ridge Ice Cream. Their ice cream is insanely rich, made on the premises, and the ingredients come directly from the dairy cows wandering around freely behind a short fence that separates their parking lot from their cow pasture. So freshness is off the charts. Their ice cream is creamy, flavorful, and mouth watering. I might have tasted ice cream that approached or even equaled Crescent Ridge ice cream in quality, but I have never tasted better ice cream, and I mean anywhere either locally or around the country when I travel. Another day, another ice cream spot to visit! This was another first visit for me. This one, definitely drew a crowd, with provably 8 or 10 windows and long lines at each, it was a good sign! The young woman working the window was very friendly and was able to keep the line moving quickly. This night I got the s'more flavor, and decided to get it with chocolate sprinkles at the advice of my brother. The sprinkles were great, and not the waxy kind like most places serve, but instead just pure chocolate. They loaded up with tip with the sprinkles and as I got to the bottom, it was a pleasant surprise to see they also put a scoop in the bottom of the cup before filling it with ice cream, something I'd never experienced before, but it definitely a nice touch and sets the bar higher in my mind! Being a dairy they also offer (glass) bottles of fresh milk for sale and even for home delivery! One thing to note, they offer (4) cup sizes, with the "small" being the second largest. So definitely be careful when placing your order, or you may be over indulging. I got the smallest, I think the "tiny tot" size and it was a generous portion and more than enough to fill your sweet tooth craving. Perfect summer spot for ice cream of huge portion size. We got the "tiny tot" size while the "small" size was a ginormous tall cup that would be filled to the brim with ice cream. The flavors we tried were cookies & cream and cow prints, which seems like a version of moose tracks which mini peanut butter cups. It would be even better with chocolate chunks as well. I hear it can get quite busy especially on weekends, but they seem to have a good queue system to move things along quickly. I wanted to try more than one flavor, but you can only get one flavor unless you order a small in which you can get two flavors. As like other farms where you can get ice cream, the portion size is huge so just be mindful since a small is basically a large. The ice cream is super rich, but not overly sweet. I have bought their milk at whole food and was excited to check out this farm in person. We went to buy their ice cream and got a container to take home. I was very disappointed in their ingredients when I got home. I read the box and they still their product with the use of yellow #5 and blue # 1 instead of a natural way to add color and flavor to their ice cream. This yellow #5 and blue # 1 has been linked to health concerns related to their use. These concerns include behavioral issues in children, and links to cancer. The FDA HAS BANNED THIS FROM ALL FOOD PRODUCTS and mention the concerns they have with its link to cancer but unfortunately they have given all food industry 2 years to get rid of this ingredients in their foods. Crescent Ridge is a lovely spot. Who doesn't love getting some homemade ice cream from an outdoor "dairy bar" in a bucolic setting? It may be related to the common sense of happiness derived from holding and eating a very overstuffed cone (literally at a dairy) but it seems that the patrons here are all satisfied and friendly (as are the young folks who work here). The choice of flavors is very broad, although they seem to run out of some of the flavors regularly. I can forgive that, as it is obviously a very popular place. My only complaint is that the actual flavors (i.e. the taste) of the ice cream is somewhat muted, and doesn't have the "zing" (intensity) of truly great homemade ice cream. The peach ice cream, for example, is quite sweet, and the flavor profile is definitely related more to canned peaches in syrup than to real Summertime peaches. I also have found that their coffee ice cream is also a bit bland, so that while eating "Mississippi Mud" (coffee ice cream with chunks of stuff--they were out of other coffee products) I really wasn't entirely sure that it was coffee ice cream (only the slight scent of coffee convinced me!). Similarly, other than some nuts, the "other stuff" in the Mississippi Mud was indistinguishable. So I have concluded that this is really more like old fashioned ice cream: excellent consistency, with perhaps a bit too much sugar, and muted flavorings, but good creaminess. I think that in the 21st century, we have become spoiled by the premium ice creams that have very intense, often floral flavor profiles. But this is still an excellent spot on a hot Summer day. read more

Came here on 8/19/22 and got 3 "small" ice creams for $19.95 after tax, I just know we handed them a $20 thinking it was enough and were surprised that we didn't get any bills back, then had to fish for an extra couple $1's to tip? I've been going here for something like 20 years and I have memories of this place from my childhood, but I think it's almost time to say enough is enough with the pricing and find somewhere else. Crescent Ridge has gotten to the point where it's just way more expensive than anything in the area, not to mention in the general Boston area. The ice cream is really just okay? A lot of smaller ice cream shops are better. And there is almost zero flavor rotation - they've been serving the same thing for forever. Might be okay if you're the kind of person to order the exact same thing every time, but it's impossible for someone who likes to mix it up after the number of years that many of the regulars have been going. A lot of the flavors don't taste naturally flavored, again, some people might like these flavors because they're the classics from their childhoods, but it's really off putting for me. Admittedly, I don't mind the long line, but maybe that's just me being used to CRidge always having the long line and having waited many, many hours in it many years ago. But with ice cream almost the same price as a Chipotle bowl, I'm worried that they're pretty much price gouging those who are loyal and playing their status from the old days. I visited Crescent Ridge on a Saturday afternoon and it was a wonderful time. They have a large assortment of ice cream flavors and will give you samples if you ask. I got a mint cookie kiddie cone and it was a very large portion of ice cream. It was the equivalent of 2.5 very large scoops. They were very nice and gave us cups for our cones as it was rather warm outside and our cones were rapidly melting. The service is quick and there are many different windows to line up at. They have a separate section on the left side of the building where you are purchase ice cream sandwiches and milk. They do not serve scooped ice cream in that area. In terms of parking and seating, there is plenty of it! Lots of tables and two separate lots, both with ample amount of spaces. The one downfall is that they don't have a brick and mortar bathroom. We've tried multiple flavors and find them quite enjoyable. Even the kiddie size ends up being enormous since they give you as many scooping as they can fit. I will warn you against the sherbert - forgot which flavor but it was bland, oddly textured and tasted nothing like it should be. Also added Reese pieces to the mint cookies n cream. Our dogs loved the pup cup which was Frozen vanilla yogurt with a Milkbone. The Mississippi Mud had pieces of oreo and almonds. I came here with a friend late on a Saturday night right before closing. There was a fair line by that point and a couple others joined after us. I ordered a maple walnut in the smallest size available while my friend got the cookies n cream frappe. I liked the maple walnut and found it consistent with other in-house made ice cream shops. The frappe was a perfect consistency as it wasn't watery but not too viscous it would have rendered the straw useless. Its rich n creamy, you may not even need cream for the coffee just this. They also delivered jumbo fresh eggs and bread. From their online cart you can order specialty meats and other gourmet items in additional to diary staples. Monday is my area delivery and today we got peppermint stick ice cream sandwiches and frozen yogurt. The sandwiches are big and delicious! I wish I had hot fudge to dip the peppermint into. The whole milk they produce here is fantastic... my new favorite. They sell the half gallon in glass bottles at some markets... really special and not much more money than store brands.
