This review is way overdue but here it is with a full timeline and a lot of issues. I ordered this wig for almost 600 dollars on May 18, 2018, for it to arrive July 8th, not what I wanted, missing the elastic band I paid for with the pink hue she said wasn't visible. I sent multiple emails and finally got a response, she attempted to turn the blame on me for being unreachable when I responded to all her emails with a swiftness. She reassured me and apologized then created an Instagram​ live for me to see the wig. I saw her effort and I was thankful and excited to see what was to come in the mail as soon as possible. You may ask why I took the wig that she gave me? I waited so long for the 600 dollar wig, that I just took the wig that was sent to me because it was in nice quality and my stylist said she could help me style it. As soon as my stylist saw this wig she immediately chastised me for paying 600 dollars for a wig that "was obviously​ not 600 dollar material." I became nervous and nonetheless,​ she urged me to report Shawn to the BBB ( Better Business Breau). She did also style the wig I​ wanted it and I​ finally was able to wear it around August​ 10th. I wore it, its shed tangled and frizzed anytime I​ went out the door. I became really frustrated and decided to wash it and then it shed even more; however, it calmed down so I​ believed that​ was the remedy for the issues. I used the Maui​ shampoo and conditioner that she publicized all over her page. when I​ went to wash it a third time, it TANGLED INTO A HURRICANE OF KNOTS. please PLEASE learn from my mistakes​ and NEVER BUY from this woman who only cares about the money and could give a F*** about customer service. If I can't​ get my 600 dollars back best believe ill protect other women​ from making this mistake and will be letting the BBB know about this. There are 25 photos that show the wig, the conversation, me articulating what I​ wanted and ultimately not getting​ it. Please buy carefully! After posting this review I received an email from Shawn (very condescending) still claiming that I tried to change the wig color at the time f service. I wish I could post a picture with the email prior to purchasing asking if she could change the color of the wig with the attached color chart I sent PRIOR to my appointment She saw my review and is now saying that the reasons I posted on here for the wig not being sent are "dumb" lol I wish that I could posted her excuses for not sending the pictures as well (which are what she was referring to as dumb, though I agree that they were dumb and I don't know why she was giving me personal reasons as to why a wig picture could not be sent and why it was not in my possession) Anyways she says she was "nice enough to recolor the wig instead of denying it right then and there because in all honesty you received a free service for the color and I didn't mention it to toys. Clearly stated on the website alterations and full color are $165. But I ignored it because I figure you didn't read anything; and point proven" -_- Nice enough? That's your job, to service a customer appropriately and she did not, at least not for this wig! I would have rather payed for the service and actually got my product but being that I didn't order from a website (hers was down and it was prior to her being on Etsy, so it was ordered via Instagram and payed for my Cash app) all the other things she says are irrelevant. Absolutely horrible. Do not purchase!! My wig tangled so bad and ruined my vacation. I attempted to reach out to her several times with no reply, even on ig where she put "read" and just decided not to reply. So this is basically going to be a review similar to the rest of the reviews, I honestly wished I come here to see her customer service repertoire before making my purchase. On February 26, I went to strandshairsystems.com and purchase an egyptian wavy/curl unit 20 inches natural color. It cost $436. By the end of March, I contacted the merchant - Shawn Smith at least 4 times asking for the status of my purchase. The website instructs customers of when to properly contact the merchant and how (via email of course). When I finally received a response it was on March 29. Shawn instructed me that she was deeply sorry for my unit not being received and for not responding to previous emails. She then stated I would receive a refund back to my original payment method for the purchase in 10-15 days. I was disappointed immediately for two reasons, 1. She never confirmed if a unit was made or sent. 2. She never elaborated on the situation at all just a brief apology and a refund request/statement. Around April 14th I started to email her again. No response. I have now had to contact my bank and start a dispute because she has been either avoiding or disregarding my emails asking where my refund is. The products she posts on her website are glorious in appearance. I will give her that, she appears to be a beautiful craftsman BUT her customer service is not up to par. Customer service is a huge issue when it comes to having your own business. I really wish I could receive the proper response as to what is going on. I doubt Picasso treated his art buyers like this. I've purchased from Shawn Smith in the past and while her customer service has always left much to be desired her product has usually been top notch...with the exception of my most recent purchase. I spent $507 on a "ready to ship" purchase that took OVER A MONTH to be shipped and about week after that to be delivered. Fine - even though it was irritating I wasn't in a rush and this isn't much different than my previous orders so I didn't complain. Well, I received the Zara 22" and within 2 weeks of use it has become so tangled and matted that deep conditioning for 3 hours did NOTHING to help. I cannot run my fingers, a comb, or a brush through it without MAJOR tangles. Like I said I've purchased from this company in the past and I truly believe that I just happened to receive a rare bad product so I reached out via message through the website on August 22nd. As of this review, I have yet to receive even an acknowledgment that my message has been received. I've even commented under one of her Instagram posts minutes after it was posted asking for a response and she has responded to every comment other than mine. I've also sent another message on Sept 9th stating if I don't receive a response soon I will have to get my bank involved - something I don't really want to do because I just want the wig replaced. I'm not even asking for a refund -- STILL NOTHING. I've started a dispute with american express and hoping that will either push her to respond or at the very least give me a refund. As expensive as these products are, customer service is incredibly important. People who spend this type of money work hard for it and are usually the type of people that will continue to patronize your business if they are treated well. Because of this experience, I will never purchase from her again and strongly urge others to stay away from this company. She does not seem to have the business sense to understand that the way customers are treated has direct correlation to the longevity of your company. I'm fortunate enough that I have the ability to purchase elsewhere while I wait for this to be resolved but not everybody has the means to do so which I feel she doesn't seem to understand or quite frankly care. Okay guys I usually dont do reviews but I really think this company needs credit where it is due. So like many of the other reviews I was skeptical about the almost 500.00 that I spent on one of the wigs from this company after reading the reviews...mind you I had already made the purchase before seeing these reviews. At first I panicked thinking I had made a bad decision I even called my bank to stop payment telling them I think I have been scammed....Well thank goodness my fears were unwarranted I ordered my unit on May 18th and recieved it on June 18th I know that seems like a long time... I dont suggest purchasing if you are in a hurry *FYI they have ready to ship units now* So all of my fears went OUT the window when the unit arrived this is by far the BEST hair I've had the wig is constructed amazingly ...the knots are dyed the hairline is plucked ...I mean its NICE!!! it took a month for me to receive my order for it to be a disappointment. 2 weeks after I ordered my wig I noticed I haven't received a confirmation or tracking email . I then email and called the number on the website & nothing . So I messaged her on instagram and that's when I was told my package got lost ( I wasn't notified or anything) then it took another 2 and a half weeks to come and the wig looks nothing like the wig I ordered . The length look like it was layered . The front is way shorter then the back as you see in the second pic. Her wigs are not worth the price she is charging . DO NOT BUY!! I recently ordered a 24 inch wig by Shawn Smith's lace wig. After a few weeks when I asked for an update the customer service was unprofessional and they tried to tell me USPS does not give out tracking numbers. When the unit arrived it was well constructed but the quality of the hair is horrible!! It smells of corn chips and chemicals. I deep conditioned it for hours using Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner and it still smelt horrible. It sheds like crazy, from the first moment I ran my fingers through it. I really wish I could leave a zero, she doesn't even deserve a 1. I made a purchase a month ago and have yet to receive my product. I purchased my item April 13th, I emailed her again the next day wanting to change the length of the hair she informed that it would be no issue. Fast forward a few weeks later I ask her when can I expect my product, she said there is a delay due to the change of length. Ok cool this is where my issue is. 1. she never told me there would be a delay when I first requested the length change. She also informed me that the new start date for processing my wig is on the 23rd. 2. On her website it says products take up to 17 days its beyond 17days. Its been 36 days since she took money out my account and 26 days since the 23rd. She did respond telling me time of the year is pretty for her, do I care? no, I paid money in full and I'm expecting my product by a certain time frame. 3. Next issue at this point I'm beyond frustrated, so I contact her again on the 9th of May, and she emails back saying product is awaiting shipping. Fast-forward to the 15th and its still awaiting shipping. So I contact her and she says my product will be shipped within 24-48hours and Ill receive tracking information lol the lies. Today it is the 18th of May and I have nothing no wig no tracking information nothing. This is by far is the worst customer is experience I have ever received, and honestly I don't think she cares. But best believe I did contact by bank, I would never recommend her to anyone not even worth the stress. Please earn from my experience don't waste your time or your money. read more

I ordered a Full Lace Unit for $646.60 on March 31st and scheduled an install appt. for May 12. This appt. was cancelled by Shawn a few days before as she said the unit would take 8-10 weeks. The appt. was rescheduled for June 7, on June 4 she cancelled that appt. refunded the $75 deposit and advised she would be out of town for family issues until further notice but would be mailing the unit. She issued a refund for the unit on June 14th through paypal, however this refund did not clear her acct to date and it is June 22nd. So I have no unit and no money 12wks 2days later. I realize some have had good experiences with her, but others have not. This is unacceptable. At this point I don't even want a unit, I placed an order with another company as this timeframe and lack of communication after spending $646.60 is unacceptable. She also has very bad customer service and will not respond to your emails and will overlook your comments and dms on ig. Will never buy from her again she's a scam!!!!!!! read more
