I was planning my wedding from a distance and so I never got the chance to meet Mark in person until the day of the wedding. No problem at all! He knows how to have a good time and how to make other people have a good time. I really think (and I may be bias) our wedding was one of the most fun I've been to. I feel like I was running around so much near the end of the planning stage I was being very vague with details but Mark nailed everything so perfectly. His prices are so affordable, and he brings all kinds of fun equipment! I feel like you can literally request any song in the world and he will find it and play it, and he even mashed up a song for me. I strongly recommend Mark for any DJing needs. I wasn't sure at first if I needed a DJ for my wedding on 2/22/14, but after several conversations with friends and family I decided to look for one who might fit our needs. When I went shopping for information I found Mark Miller. I felt an immediate connection to him because during our first conversation he asked all the right questions. He really wanted to know about my husband and me, our musical tastes, and how we wanted our ceremony and reception to feel. I was quick to hire him before someone else could! Mark was immeasurably kind and patient with my frequent emails and bridal panic moments. To calm my worries, he met with me at the venue and took a walk around and discussed with me exactly what he was planning for each phase of the evening. It was easy at that point to surrender control of the music to him. In addition, we completed an online DJ portal questionnaire with our specific requests (along with anything we didn't want--which we didn't have) and a general information page, which made me feel like he knew exactly what we wanted. I may be biased, but I truly feel like my wedding was a perfect day. My day-of coordinator took control of all the vendors a week before the wedding to make sure they all understood our timeline, and Mark worked seamlessly with her. He arrived early and set up each area where he would be working. The ceremony music was beautiful and worked exactly with our processional and recessionals with his editing. Once the cocktail hour started, he played a variety of music from all different genres that nonetheless fit in with our tastes. The reception was unbelievable--I really didn't have any intention of dancing beyond the first dances with my husband and father, but Mark kept the room so energized I couldn't help myself. He did a wonderful job helping our guests know exactly where they were supposed to be and what was going to happen next. In addition to his truly EXCELLENT performance on my wedding day, I have to add that Mark edited the songs we were using for our first dances, and he did a wonderful job. I also didn't have specific picks for some of the things we were doing (the bouquet and garter toss, the exit, the last dance) and I told Mark to use his discretion, and his picks were absolutely spot on. Mark was an incredible professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for an experienced DJ and MC. Strat Kat DJ'd my wedding on Lake Buchanan in October of 2010. He did a fantastic job! We cared deeply about the music, but didn't want to go the route of making our own playlist... we wanted to trust a professional to keep the guests on the dance floor and that's exactly what Strat Kat did. He played some (but not all) of our "must play" tracks, none of our "do not play" tracks, and then created an awesome mix of top 40, oldies and even a little country. His set up was cool, and he was tolerant - even encouraging?! - of my ridiculous friends' love of the musical instruments he brought. What a great time! Just was in a wedding in Austin TX this past weekend and this guy knows how to keep the party moving! I always say that the DJ really is the most important piece of the puzzle because he will set the vibe for the whole night. Well this man delivers! The music was a perfect mix for the crowd we had. I was having a party for my parents anniversary and I asked Mark if he could DJ the event at the last minute. He moved heaven and earth to get it done. I gave him a list of all of my parents favorite musicians and it was like he was playing my dad's old record collection which is long gone. It literally brought a tear to my parent's eyes when there was not one song that they did not enjoy and the guest could not believe how professional he was with all the best equipment and lights. My first career was in radio, and I know a lot about DJs. Now I am a minister, and I go to a lot of weddings and receptions. I met Mark Miller when he did the reception for a cousin's wedding. It was the best reception I ever attended! Mark had everyone up and dancing, even the cleaning woman, who bolted onto the floor to dance because she simply could not sit still any more. I tapped my feet for days after that one! He was terrific! When it came time for our 50th wedding anniversary, I wanted Mark and all music from the 1960s. If he had not been able to come, there would not have been a party. He is THAT good. Planning is a breeze with him because of his software that walks one through every aspect. He was very kind and patient with me during the many e-mails I sent on the front end. He arrived way ahead of time. Mark has a quality sound system with excellent fidelity so the music sounds fabulous. I told him my crowd was old and would not dance, but I was wrong. He had everyone up and dancing.
