A lot of them were newbies.The target was winter flounder (was Memorial Day weekend), but the listing for the trip said they would target tautog upon achieving a boat limit on the flounder. Capt Mike was very helpful with pointing out the basics to everyone and pointed out safety features on the boat. Mate Jeff was attentive with help with the bait, untangling lines, re-tying lines lost to break offs, and unhooking fish/bleeding them for best table fare. Though I caught my 8 fish limit on flounder, not everyone did. So we didn't go elsewhere looking for tautog. The guy fishing next to me said he's fished that boat a fair bit and never seen them target tog, even if the boat limit on flounder was caught. That's BS to list the tog option if they never pursue it. They didn't have crabs for bait to try for tog even if we wanted to. I'd say this is a good, clean, safe boat, run by a good crew (Capt Mike and Mate Jeff) if you want to chase winter flounder on a headboat setting in Cape Cod Bay. But don't plan on trying for tog like they list as a possible option.

We were greeted by a lovely lady who took our names and allowed us on board. Once on, we found perfect seating in the front of the boat and were informed that beverages were being served below. How fortunate that they had a really nice selection of wine, spirits and cocktails at a very affordable price. As for the trip itself- it could not have been more perfect! The boat ride was comfortable and our tour announcer, I did not get his name, was so informative and told us a great history of the area! He was so good that when we got back to our friends' home that evening we even watched The Final Hours co-written by Cory Sherman a friend of our guide. What a great way to end a beautiful day! Novice but enthusiastic offshore fishers with lots of inshore and freshwater experience. This was a first for all of us. We were 40-45 miles offshore all morning in an area with nothing shy of 100 whales, breaching, porpoising, and spouting the entire time. Fogged in for early morning with improving skies all day. The first fish was 38-40" fish that blew up the top water spread when he hit it, amazing. Second fish was right at the max, 70", probably north of 180#s. Captain Dennis had to work to keep us on fish as the wolfpack were pretty finicky near the surface. We called it to go try for striper, and within an hour of fishing for striper, we were maxed out. Boat great, First mate and Capitain great team, fish were the real stars of the day. When we got back, all fish were fileted and prepped for us to portion out and freeze. Still enjoying the spoils at dinner time. Thank you Dennis. We'll be back!!!!

Shortly after we entered the open waters of mid-bay, we started catching, and ended up with approx. 21 Stripers (we might have lost count), and 1 nice Bluefish that Blaine bled out immediately, and enabled us to cook it up berre blanc style and it was excellent.) About 15 stripers were legal sized, but we only kept our legal limit of course. (If we were in NY, we would be eating bass for the rest of the summer! Maybe that's why MA allows less keepers so that there are more available for others to catch!) Regardless, it was literally non-stop action and both Capt. Bob and his mate Blaine were awesome. Kids wanted to try fishing again while on vacation. But, I wanted a more petsonized experience than…read morethe large public fishing trip we did last time. Enter Cape Tip'n and Captain Nico! Nico was quite accomodating about arrangements and answering questions. Our trip included fishing for bait, blue fish and an attempt at Striped Bass. He answered questions from teenagers and drove the boat fast and we even got a look at a large contingent of seals and a glimpse at some whales. We did make one large catch of a striped Bass and several of the blue fish which gave us enough for several meals (6 of the 7 of us went fishing). All the teenagers said they would be interested in doing this again with Nico in the future!
