Came home with a hysterical 7-year-old who was not allowed on the boat by the captain. Another child was allowed on, but he took one look at us and assumed we were city people. I'm not arguing with someone who doesn't want us on his boat, so I'm not going to tell him we spend multiple months each winter in Costa Rica and are incredibly familiar with the water; we also have done extensive boat trips off the coast of Ireland, which is incredibly choppy. Getting a refund took forever. A waste of a day. When I told the people at the ticket office they should make it more clear that the captain takes kids at his discretion I was told "the website can not go through every possible scenario." Incredibly rude and unwelcoming; families avoid at all costs! read more

Earlier today we went to Helen, customer service was not good, barely talked to a crew member the whole Ride. If you are choosing between HY-LINE and Helen please choose hy-line, they were attentive, helpful, and made it an overall better experience. The guys on the boat were great and we caught a ton of fish. I'm actually writing this review and I'm still on the boat! Big thanks to the crew! read more

The crew was not very nice or helpful. The first mate was busy fishing for himself with bait that was not offered to those of us who paid for the trip. He cought several big fish and made sure we knew it. His idea of helping was yelling directions to us so he did not have to put down is fishing pole. The boat was adequate but the ride back was so ruff, most of the passengers were sea sick and was made worse by the fact that smoking was allowed. One positive was they filleted the fish on the way back, so we able to leave right away. As far as catching fish, my husband and I each caught one keeper. We opted to take the 1/2 day "captain's choice" boat which was the same duration as the bottom fishing boat, but cost about $50 more for our party of four. Since we ended up bottom fishing anyway, this definitely wasn't worth the upcharge. The boat itself was in fair condition, needing some TLC and a good cleaning. Half empty bottles from the earlier boat were still on the tables throughout our trip. The crew was sub-par. On the way out (which took about 1.25 hrs) one of the crew took a nap on about 7' of the interior bench space that could have been used by customers. There were no snacks or drinks available for purchase on board, and the bait shop had a VERY limited and overpriced selection available prior to departure. We did catch a few fish, but seemed to constantly need to pull up lines to move to a different spot. This meant that out of 4 hours, we actually fished for 1 - 1.5 hours! The crew cleaned the fish on the way back to shore and put the filets in bags and in ice. Other boats I've been on charge $1-2 per fish, but these guys did it for tips. Overall, not bad, but there are much better options on the Cape. read more

We enjoyed our trip on the Sea Swan did Capetians choice fishing! We went home with plenty of sea bass to keep. The rods were in fine working condition and they supplied plenty of bait for us to use (two different types; squid and clam, I think). The crew was helpful in getting the some of the deep hooks out of fishes mouths and to tell you if the fish was long enough to keep. They also filleted the fish for $2 each, and we tipped them on top of that. I believe that captain had a fish radar because he was bribing us to all good spots were a lot of people had success! Minus one star because the bathrooms could use a deep cleaning and because the crew started throwing in their own lines and left some people high and dry for help. read more

So i'm here on the cape and thinking about going deep sea fishing. I want somebody to note that the only time the business manager responded to anyone was when there was a positive review. Customer base for repeat customers is important in my eyes. I'm not saying i would not utilize the service because the review on the competitor is pretty close. I just want you to know when people look at your reviews, you should be taking care of those that were dissatisfied. read more

This is meant to be a review for the Hy-line Cruises fishing cruise, which leaves from a different dock and is different than a ferry trip. We fished in mid-June, three of us, 'drifting for fluke'. It was the first time any of us had fished in salt water, but two of us had extensive fresh water experience. It was a bit more than OK. We caught 10 keepers between us (scups and sea bass, others caught a fluke and sharks and sea robins), and we had enough to feed 6 people twice. The upside is that I think they know what they are doing, and you catch fish and they help you the right amount. It was great fun, and having a boat full of people meant you saw more action, even if you only saw it, not participated in it. The downside is that they appear to be a bit more expensive than other boats. They charge you for the rod ($3, so not big, but irritating unless you have a rod, then, a bonus), and for parking ($8, which is perhaps less than elsewhere in Hyannis). Other boats appear not to charge for either, which added $17 to the cost, and unexpectedly. So, it would be a 4 star, but I'm not sure what a reservation means to them. A friend wanted to follow us and later made a reservation for the next day. On the morning they called back, bless their heart, and said that the boat was full (!). Under sized fish ignored by crew The ill disciplined crew and the lack of attention from the crew really made this trip bad. We caught fish and all, but there was a group of people who kept putting obviously under sized fish in their keeping bag. The crew paid no attention to this at all. They obviously saw the small fish, as the crew filleted the fish for this group of illegal fishers and thus must have seen how small they were. This really angered me, and when we talked to the crew about it, they said it "Isn't our problem." All those fish now will not be able to reproduce and give rise to new fish for further fishermen to enjoy. As well, the boat captain was not the most pleasant person I've ever met, and some of the crew didn't seem very interested in the people on the boat. read more

We took a great bottom fishing trip out of Hyannis Port this weekend. Five buddies, 30 Bud Lights, and something like a dozen keepers. The boat was probably meant for 50-60 people but there were probably only 25 people total this day. We had a blast. The four hour trip costs $35, and an extra $4 for gear. They supply the bait (squid). For people with less experience, they'd show you how to use the gear, bait the hook, and they'd even remove the hook from the fish for you.We caught mostly black sea bass, and some scup. We fished probably 5-6 different spots. When we stopped catching fish we'd move on to the next one. The captain was great and the mates were very helpful. For an extra $20, they cleaned all of our fish and we went home with 20+ fish fillets, which we devoured that night. Great day on the water. Great value. I'll be going again. read more

Took a four-hour bottom fishing trip a couple of weeks ago, and was pretty pleased with the experience. Everyone in my group, with the exception of my boyfriend who doesn't like fish anyway, came home with at least a fish or two. I made it home with three, and was psyched about it. The boat itself looks like it's seem better days, and the cabin seemed a little dingy to me. Not a huge deal, I was out on the deck the whole time. The crew was super friendly and very helpful and the captain readily moved the boat when people stopped catching fish. Not at all the fault of the company, but the water was SO choppy I could barely keep my footing. I guess it didn't matter in the end because we all had a great time and didn't get sea sick. For $35 bucks (for two people, with a livingsocial voucher), I couldn't really have asked for a better fishing trip. read more

2 stars and that's being generous, between the chain smokers and having a mechanical failure with one of the engines the experience was to say the least a waste. I paid for stripers, with the switch because of the unfortunate inconvenience we had to settle for porkies and sea bass. Wish I could rate them with 2 thumbs down. read more

I caught a lot of fishes each time. Unfortunately, each person can keep a maximum of 5 sea bass (min 15" long). Last time we had a blast, each person caught at least 5 sea bass. The caption knows where the fishes are. If no activity for a while, he would keep moving to new spots. It becomes an annual event for our family to go here for fishing! read more

Ok trip. Good for first timers or the occasional outing. The Captain put us on fish. Lot of Sea Bass but lots of small ones. Our group caught 3 keepers and some other bottom fish. Crew was good, tackle ok, hooks could be a lot sharper. Crew does a good job filleting your catch. If you are a regular to fishing this trip will probably be a let down. read more

Did not like how the crew and captain spend the whole time fishing over a rock pile catching a ton of black fish while everyone else fished off the rock pile catching nothing. They kept the crabs at the back of the boat for themselves and you basically had to help yourself. Only moved the boat twice, when the crew stopped catching fish. Thought they would have been a little more helpful to make it a more enjoyable experience for the paying customer then for themselves. The thing that really got me was they were selling the fish they caught to the people on the boat that didn't catch anything. read more

My group and I took the day off to go fishing, the captain and his crew were sitting around and playing but when time came for us to take off they canceled the trip on us because they did not do the proper inspections, the crew member also gave us a nasty attitude about the trip and this is not fair to us as a paying customer but I guess it's ok since the have a busy season and they make their money anyway from new comers, if you only knew the truth people you would boycott them and never spend a dollar with this company ever again it's bad enough we took a day off work and drove 2 hours to go have fun and they shit on us like that, That's unprofessional and the owner needs to set his team straight again!!!! read more

Not again! The captain was very rude. He goes through people's personal belongings searching for smaller fish they kept. He whines a lot about his 100$ fish rod and never moved his boat from one location. No I wouldn't recommend this place again. read more
