However, with the retirement of my Denver oral surgeon and learning about Dr. Heggland in Frisco, I decided to stay up in the mountains for this work. That was definitely the right call. My procedure involved two extractions (leading to implants) - caddy-corner in my mouth with one on the upper left and the other on the lower-right. No fun. But the procedure was efficient and not that onerous. And as Dr. Heggland had predicted, the aftermath was more uncomfortable than painful. Nothing that I couldn't handle with some periodic Advil. To top it off, his staff and the entire operation are friendly and personable. With a minimum of paperwork and delay. Two teeth gone - but two thumbs up.

This was just an evaluation appointment! I have great dental insurance which would have then produced an "extraction fee" in his coffers soon after. Once they realized her dentist's office was closed on Friday, and they couldn't get x-rays over to his office, and that I wasn't willing to have her x-rayed again, he lost his cool. I actually never even had a chance to evaluate if he had any. Dr. Garel never even said hello or introduced himself. This was my first time stepping foot into his office. I'm still not quite sure why they hadn't already contacted my daughter's dentist or asked me to procure them ahead of time, since I made the appointment weeks ago. But I am glad they didn't, because I was able to see his true colors much faster. I would not go back if the appointment was going to be at no charge.

I didn't have anyone to transport me that time, so I needed to reschedule. Ended up having an emergency over the weekend, and needed to be rushed to the Denver hospital. They prescribed amoxicillin for the infection that I was experiencing. (Found out Hospital's are not allowed to remove teeth). I stopped by the Frisco location at 8am on Monday ("opening"). Surprised to see me, Dr. Karl Heggdouche told me he will only there for 20min on a "personal call". I explained to him that I had a severe infection, to which he responded "you don't look that swollen" and that I was "interrupting". BEST PART, HE DIDN'T EVEN CARE TO LOOK AT IT... Even after calling back, begging for ANY appointment, just for the infected tooth, they dropped my call. Than wouldn't answer at 2-3pm!! This "Dr." shouldn't have a license, and the office needs to get rid of the windows 99 scheduling system. I mean your closed for most of the week anyways, why not just close everything down and stop lying to people that you have the staff... If your having a bad day, I get it... but to drop my call in a fu*king emergency... you're a cu*t and shouldn't have a license at all. It is such a shame when a great medical practitioner allows the front office to ruin the reputation and dissuade new business coming in through the front door. Good dentistry obviously needs a great dentist, but you cannot ignore the other business needs surrounding the customer experience. While the Vail Valley doesn't have a ton of options, if you are seeking a positive customer experience with the ability to speak to someone on the phone without tremendous frustration, I advise you to seek elsewhere!
