Short wait for an appointment, up front bills. The staff was all super nice! Recommend!

Wasn't able to get through the door! Very difficult to communicate with the office, they are using a third-party for the phones that does not answer the phone timely or return calls. I finally got through after multiple attempts, I verified with the representative that Avon Dental was in-network with my insurance, and made an appointment. That appointment was then canceled via text (Avon Dental truly abhors using the phone to make personal connections with customers). Through text, I was able to reschedule. Just a few days before the rescheduled appointment, I was told via text I am in fact not in network with insurance! It is such a shame when a great medical practitioner allows the front office to ruin the reputation and dissuade new business coming in through the front door. Good dentistry obviously needs a great dentist, but you cannot ignore the other business needs surrounding the customer experience. While the Vail Valley doesn't have a ton of options, if you are seeking a positive customer experience with the ability to speak to someone on the phone without tremendous frustration, I advise you to seek elsewhere! read more

Although this practice has a kind staff and nice office it's extremely unprofessional. THIS PRACTICE EXPLOITS AND CAPITALIZES ON EMERGENCY DENTAL NEEDS. Upon making a day-of, emergency appointment (as many do in a town of tourists) I was provided a quote over the phone that was $220 less than the final bill. They forced me to pay out of pocket and refused to even attempt contacting my dental insurance, claiming it's not possible to obtain coverage on the day of (I called my insurance later that day and they found that absurd as they have a department dedicated to emergency charges). And as someone with family in the dental industry I know what the reasonable cost is for simply re-cementing a crown, and they exceed it by far. They claimed "the cost of living here is high" which is odd considering the last time I needed this done was in Manhattan, New York City where the cost-of-living is the highest in the country and this same procedure cost over $100 less there. I went in on April 30th with a broken crown, it is now over a month later and I am dealing with the damage Dr. Heimerdinger did to my mouth. When he had me open my jaw for the novocaine, he over extended my jaw, and when the needle was placed in my mouth he froze all of the muscles in my jaw and caused damage to the disk, the new specialist in seeing informed me of this. I can't open my mouth more than 40%, I still need a root canal, which I am unable to get because my mouth is unable to open. Not only has a doctor not followed up with me, I'm now at $1,200 in accrued bills trying to open my jaw via acupuncture, which was recommended by a professional. I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else, as it has been a terrible, painful and quite expensive experience. read more

The people who work here are very nice! However I cannot recommend this place. I had a tooth that was chipped and was told that the only option was to pull it and do an implant. The dentist said he was very conservative and this was the only option. Since the tooth was a side tooth in my smile I wanted to make sure so I went to someone else for a second opinion. This dentist said without any further imaging or anything that he 100 percent sure he could save my tooth. He almost was laughing saying it was a "no brainer" to save the tooth. I find it very scary that they almost pulled a tooth that didn't need to be! And the extra expense of a an implant. My husband decided to keep seeing them as it was the easy thing to do as he was an established patient. He was told he needed a crown on a tooth due to grinding it in his sleep. He was told this was the only option. He went ahead a did it and now was told by his insurance (an independent dentist looks at the claims for the insurance company) that it didn't need to be done and something more conservative could have been done. He's still waiting to hear back about the situation. He was told the office manager would call him and she never even did that. I don't care how nice these people are. They either don't know what they are doing or they are trying to make as much money off you as possible. Either way I'd rather go to a cranky dentist who I can trust. read more

I have lived in the valley for over 20 years. This is by far the best dental office that I have gone to since I've lived here. I came in for a regular cleaning/checkup and had a great experience! The office is very modern and high-tech with a nice waiting area. I arrived early to fill out paperwork and was seen exactly at the time my appointment was scheduled. Vonda, the hygienist, was super nice. She listened when I told her to be careful in a certain spot and was super gentle/caring about my comfort. She explained everything she was doing, let me look at things for myself in the mirror, and allowed me to ask any questions i had. Haha, most importantly she kept her fingers out of my mouth when she asked questions or I wanted to talk! Dr. Elyse Kessler came in to check in afterwards and was also very informative, easy to talk to, and friendly. I've been worried about an implant i need to eventually get done and she made me feel at ease about the procedure and made it seem like a piece of cake. It took me weeks to get an estimate for the implant at my old dentists office but Vonda was able to put one together during the appointment and explain my insurance benefits before I even left the office. I also loved that no one was rushing to just get me in and out of there. Both doctors took their time, explained everything, took a second look when I mentioned concerns, and made me feel like I was a priority and my teeth were in good hands. I only got a cleaning/checkup done but based on this visit I would totally recommend this office! read more

Showed up to my 10 o'clock appt. to find out they cancelled it claiming I never "confirmed" yet I called the day before to check on any covid info I may need before coming in.. the doctor who was supposed to do my cleaning also no showed and there were no other doctors available. It is what it is but this was just the final straw here. Grabbed my records and got out of their practice altogether. read more

Amazing experience... I had terrible tooth ache while vacationing in Beaver Creek. My hotel referenced Avon Dental, so made the call. Extremely accommodating, the office was modern and clean and the team there couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Excellent dentistry with a very compassionate touch. Front office guides you through the process. Julie, her staff and doctors are great. Everything is brand new and very clean.. And then there is the convenient location - north of Exit 167 on I-70 in Avon, CO with a beautiful view of Beaver Creek and the Sawatch Mountains, in the Hospital next to Northside Kitchen. This place is the Best! I forgot I was at a dental office! The staff is exceptional, professional, and friendly! Each person from start to finish was extremely knowledgeable and genuinely Cared about my concerns and treatment. Front desk was great, hygienist was great, and I couldn't be happier with the treatment I received with Dr. Heimerdinger. He was thorough, gentle, conservative, and answered any and all questions I had. I was placed on a priority list because of my busy schedule, and they quickly reached out with multiple dates to chose from! Retro dental is awesome!! I had a long time in between dentist visits due to loss of coverage. They were able to get me back to where I needed to be and feeling great.
