California Dog (veggie). It might just seem very brown-ish in color, but I"m telling ya, it was the best $4 I spent that day!

Mood: Pissed off to the nines. A cop on my college campus had just given me a ticket for running a stop sign in a bicycle, which irritated the hell out of me because people commit far worse violations on bikes all the time.... but I'll stop ranting for a sec. So I came across this little hot dog cart. I had actually heard about it before, and because they are a chain of hot dog carts, I felt that they would be decently clean enough. (aka not dirty, greasy, bad reputation for filth. The guy who handles the money and the guy who handles the dogs are two different people, so really there is no fear of getting the food dirty). Anyways. Checked the menu, and discovered that YES THEY HAVE VEGGIE HOT DOGS! I've been a vegetarian for the past 7 years or so, and while I don't miss meat, I do miss the hot dog + bun combo. Including tax, veggie dog is $4.05, which to me is a steal. The frank is huge, delicious, and topped with a crap load of ingredients (they even offer Goldfish as an ingredient!). Customer service was A+, cause the guys that run the cart actually talk to you. Sweet. Result: well, I still will have to waste an entire day in court fighting my ticket, but at least this awesome dog has been able to soften the blow, at least just a little bit! I'll definitely be back for a repeat visit. I hope they open up in Midtown too!

This cart now has a grill, earning that fifth star. It may take a few moments longer to get your dog grilled, but it is SO WORTH IT. My favorite is a GRILLED veggie (soy) dog with relish, grilled onions, celery salt, and slaw. Give it a try and you'll know the way to my heart. As my readers know, I travel with Jodi, who uses a wheelchair to get around downtown. And when you try to carry three hot dogs and a soda so that someone can push your wheelchair up the ramp to the conveniently located outdoor tables, it just gets messy. The woman behind the Streatery cart held onto our food until we got to a table, and then met me halfway -- not wanting to abandon her post but also trying to be as courteous as she could be. That meant a lot to both of us, and that gained an extra star. The Woodruff Park cart is located right across the street from Moe's Southwest Grill, on the park side of Peachtree. It doesn't have an official address, but Moe's is 70, so I'm calling this one 71 Peachtree St NW.

Must try this place. I can't tell you how something as simple as a hotdog can be screwed up. So do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this delightful hotdog.

This street food cart is located in a nice area that has a good amount of people. I had a soydog with slaw and curry ketchup. This was my first soydog and it was by far the best. The slaw wasn't too salty or bland. The curry ketchup was like currywurst sauce from Germany. Nice lunch after doing activities with your family downtown.

Spicy chicken dog with ketchup & mustard and relish on the bottom.

I started my last Yelp review in 2016 of the famed Varsity in Atlanta by saying "What can you say…read moreabout an Atlanta institution that has been in business for more than nine decades?" The answer now, as then, is "What'll ya have?"? Of course you have to get a couple of hot dogs with chili and cole slaw, with a side of fresh chopped onions and some mustard to add to the heart burn. Some onion rings, and a Frosted Orange (ust get one, it's big enough to share with your spouse or sweetheart.) The Varsity claims to be the largest drive-in in the country, if not the world. Maybe it is. It covers two city blocks, seats 800 inside and has space for hundreds of cars. It now has eight locations around Georgia, some of them spic 'n span new, but my heart will always be on North Street in Atlanta, where the restaurant had its start in 1928. Some things have changed. Prices are up. The people that take your order seem a little more patient. And no longer are there special lines for women (and the Athens location, now closed} doesn't have to 'splain anymore why women aren't allowed inside.

You'll need to add some salt, but they're not bad. The rest of the food was awful. AWFUL. The frozen orange tastes like medicine. The chili dog was overcooked. And the chili hamburger is an abomination that should not exist. Think a combination of a crappy hamburger and the worst sloppy joe you've ever had. I just assume this place has to be trading off a nostalgia. The service was slow to the point of indifferent. Many of the tables are dirty. But, it's huge enough that you'll probably be able to find a clean table. What'll ya have? How about some syrup of ipecac.

It has been almost two years since I was there, but others in my group go often as it's close to their home. It's about 45 minutes from the house for me, but we set out in afternoon Atlanta traffic and made it there in about 55 minutes. It was worth the drive. We love a classic Chicago dog! The onion rings were good too, just served warm. I thought they were making them fresh since the front counter girl yelled back that she needed three orders of onion rings. The service was ok...just like any other fast food restaurant these days. We really don't expect great service from the front counter workers anymore and Skip's was no different. (I will rave on my reviews when I do get great customer service.) We had a group of seven so we had to eat outside as the biggest table inside only seats four and we didn't want to sit separately. It was a cool evening, but was about the same temperature inside the restaurant. All in all, we will be back one day when we feel like taking a drive.

This isn't the spot to be healthy but for some good junk food. Service was mid. The cashier didn't greet us or ask if we had questions about the menu. Instead the first thing she said was - it'll be a 10 minute wait. It wasn't clear why she said that - the time to cook or fry my food? Before you can take my order? What's 10 minutes in the big picture when I'm in a food hall and could easily walk away. We stayed and took our buzzer that alerts you when the order is up. I informed the cook - don't say anything about 10 minutes to wait, just take the order. It's not welcoming and everyone knows food needs to be prepared. Aside from that, we had a great visit and enjoyed the food.

The food court area is beyond checkout, close to the exit. Once you order, they give you a receipt with an order number on it. When your food is done, they will call your number and there is an electronic box that displays the latest order number called. There is plenty of seating to sit down and eat. I ordered the potato dog, half mozza/half hot dog, and a cheddar dog. Now these K-dogs are huge! If I had known how big they were, I would have just ordered one. The potato dog is fried batter with pieces of potato and a wiener on the inside. If they had seasoned the batter, I would have enjoyed this so much more. Half mozzarella, half dog was really cheesy and good. It was like a giant mozzarella stick. I would definitely get this again except without the hotdog. I didn't care for the taste of the dogs. The cheddar dog was also very cheesy and good. They do give you the option to roll it in sugar, if you want. I really wish I had requested to one rolled in crushed flamin hot cheetos. All in all, the food was different from what I usually get but I'm so glad I tried it. If I ever find myself back here, I'm definitely getting the premium hot dog rolled in the flaming hot Cheetos.

My only gripe was the layer of sugar being way too thick, it left a weird aftertaste and I needed to have something really salty after to counter it haha. It's in a food hall so where it's at you have free parking. It's a really nice building and it looks like it was a food hall building that won some awards for aesthetics so it's very nice to look at. You'll come in and there's nobody to greet you, but there are people walking around and people behind the stalls and you have plenty of options to pick from. And it's kind of a multi-room situation because one part of the establishment has a lot of the food hall stalls and the other part of it has a couple stalls, some rooms you can probably reserve, and a very large bar. They have plenty of specials on some signage screens so if you go in just be aware of that. They have events like happy hour and music being played on a live situation and some other thing so just keep that in mind. Anyway, specifically about the hot dog situation, I ordered and got a beeper when it was ready. I got it and it was okay. It seemed like it was more chilly than it was dog. And because I'm from Michigan, I'm very critical on what a Coney dog should be like. Do you want the hot dog to be covered but not drowned in the chili. So not that it's bad but as you can guess this got pretty messy LOL. I thought it was tasty. It's not like home but it was pretty good. When I try other hot dogs from there, I would actually. I definitely would. It was a pretty good experience because I got the wok and see what other places were there so that was nice. But I had to do the Coney because it reminded me a little bit of home LOL.
