Growing up in Philly, Woody's used to be fairly authentic when I worked downtown. With delivery it was $49, that I knew but never again. It was dry and the bun was soaking wet. I'd ordered it with extra meat and extra grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms and there was little evidence of any onions, peppers or mushrooms at all. I have stewed about this for a day or so. I don't know what happened with your quality, but it was not worth it for 1/4 the price. On top of that Uber Eats said I needed to share the complaint within two days to get a refund. Consequently I will not get UBER One and UBER EATS validated my decision to get a Dash Pass instead. I wasn't trying to game the system for a refund but after years of great steak sandwiches from Woody's for well over a decade, I thought about it simmering. Let's start with the bread itself. Calling it bread would be a stretch by any measure as it's a stretchy creation that is more reminiscent of bubble gum than bread. Looking through older photos on Yelp, it seems they may have changed the bread used for the sandwiches when Woody's assumed new ownership. The cheesesteak filling inside is well proportioned to the volume of bread and not bad at all. As a whole, it works: the sandwich stays together and is not a bad meal at an iconic Atlanta joint. Folks in the kitchen do wear gloves, although the cleanliness overall does not look great with lots of stuff on the floor. But, coming here at 1am, it's really not the time to be complaining about such matters. Have to say this was another great experience. Sad part is we always get the same exact thing. Over the past couple of years we have visited Woody's at least once a month and sometimes twice. All occasions have been top notch...maybe because they have gotten to know us. Only one order was not processed correctly and it was an honest mistake. Our order consists of one Philly Cheesesteak with Provolone, Onions and mustard with two sodas with lots of ice. The one mistake was misheard by someone new and he heard mushrooms versus mustard. They offered to redo the order and we said No, we will just removed them. The next visit they joked with us about the mushrooms. This week our order was perfectly cooked and a bit different. The bun had been almost toasted on the griddle. It was great. But am sure that can't always do that because of the volume customers. Service is friendly, atmosphere is Woody's... just kind of homey in its own sense. Price is extremely reasonable and the prices haven't changed in at least 2 years. A Philly Cheesesteak is still $9.50 and sodas $2. Our meal is always a few cents under $15(except for the mushroom one!!!). Always tip $5 and the lunch for 2 is under $20. Finally got the chance to try Woody's Cheesesteak!! I ordered online which probably had to be the best idea because the line there is insane Online, I got the original cheesesteak and added mushrooms and bell peppers. I also got a chocolate malt shake. When I arrived at the restaurant, I did still have to wait to pick up my order but once I got to the front I got my order and left and this was way faster than waiting in store! The food was also still hot. Overall, the sandwich was outstanding and the milkshake was to die for! My only gripe is that I don't think the line is worth it.
