First time trying out Street Tacos and we were very impressed. The tacos were excellent. The chips that come with the tacos are freshly fried; crisp and delicious. The Mexican Street Rice was next level good. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, but it has a pretty cool vibe and the decor is nice. What a huge disappointment. The food was actually good, and I can see why many people enjoy eating here, but the overall experience left me very dissatisfied. The biggest issue was the service. The employee working the cash register came across as rude and unfriendly, as if customers were inconveniencing him. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like we were being treated poorly, which put a damper on the entire visit. While the food tasted good, the portions were a bit skimpy on ingredients for the price. Considering how expensive everything was, I expected better value and a more positive customer experience. I know this restaurant has plenty of fans, but I found some of the employees to be arrogant and dismissive. The treatment we received felt rude and unprofessional, and it left a lasting negative impression. Overall, I am deeply disappointed. Good food can only make up for so much, and the poor service overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal. I would not return based on the way we were treated. This is such a cool little spot to get good, hot and fresh food. We ordered the Volcano Chicken Tacos and the Veggie Street Rice with shrimp added. The tacos were delicious but the name is misleading. My husband thought it would come drizzled in some kind of spicy sauce given the name, but it was just chicken, cheese and onions. It was still really tasty though. I had the rice and while it was well seasoned, it lacked something else. I think a creamy sauce would knock this dish out of the world. If I ever order it again, I'll be sure to request a cream based sauce, or order a side of sour cream. The service was fast but we also came during a time where they didn't have crowd. If you're dining in, your order will come with a bottle of salsa verde and a bottle of spicy red salsa. Also, the music was great at the time we went, they were playing bachata and it took everything in me not to get up and dance. I'd recommend this place and plan to return. Oakland needs more variety like this little gem. read more

I would've rated this place 2 stars, but my husband enjoyed his Mexican Pizza, so it's bumped to a 3 star. I ordered 4 tacos, shrimp, barbacoa, steak and the inevitable with pickled onions. I want to clarify that I LOVE pickled onions, but these were not good. I'm honestly shocked at the super high rating of this place because the food was just not good. At all. We met friends here from out of town and they did not enjoy their food either. The tacos are very dry and very bland. The pickled onions were not good and had an odd after taste. The salsa verde on the table was basically green water. However, the horchata they have was very delicious. I will give them that. Visually, food looked great, but flavor wise, severely lacking. I did love all the plants outside though. They were beautiful! We will not be coming back here again. read more

Went to check out this awesome restaurant. Great and vibrant decor that make the place pop with all of the color. The service was on point. When you enter the restaurant, you place your order with the server. Then another server brings out your food. Service was great and fast. We ordered and our appetizer of guacamole and chips came out. About ten minutes later our entree order arrived. The food was extremely fresh with a lot of good flavors and seasonings. I had a shrimp and a red snapper taco on a corn tortilla. The guacamole was super good with fried flour tortilla based chips versus corn tortilla chips. It reminded me of a cracker texture. It paired very well with the fresh guacamole. The chip was thick and very flavorful. Everything was awesome! Just be aware as you enter the restaurant on the left of the entrance, there is a boot scraper and I tripped over it as we walked inside. My foot got stuck in the scraper. Ouchie! I almost fell. Good thing there were chairs and tables outside. I fell on a chair to help me not fall and hurt myself even worse. My toe hurts and has a slight indention. Had to ice it when I arrived home. Anything they serve with fish is exceptionally terrific to me. I really enjoy the chicken Volcano also. Have heard great things about the Mexican pizza from other customers. Hit this place up with the family for lunch today....AWESOME! We did takeout since the small-ish dining area was more than half full and nobody wanted to eat outside today (a little chilly). I had three street tacos-shrimp, chicken and tilapia....all perfect! The corn tortillas were delicious and all of the ingredients were super fresh. Others had tamales, chips and queso, street nachos, steak tacos, avocado taco, el pastor, shrimp and chicken tacos. Tortilla chips were excellent-not too greasy nor overly salty...with just the right crunch. Red and green salsas had a gooooood kick...especially the red. Queso is great. Cute little authentic Mexican restaurant in a small strip mall. Walk up counter to order with a quaint dining area. We were in town for a soccer tournament and decided to give it a try based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. The owners are very friendly and were very helpful in explaining what they have to offer when we couldn't decide what to order. I had the XL carnitas quesadilla and it was excellent. A very large portion served with a few chips. The carnitas had a great flavor and was extra juicy and the cheese was super creamy and melted so smooth. 10/10 highly recommend the quesadilla. My husband and son both got different variations of tacos on flour tortillas and they said they were both really good. The chips are deep fried flour tortillas and are a little on the thick side, but they paired perfectly with the extra creamy white queso. I dipped my quesadilla in the verde salsa. It was a little on the spicy side, but still very enjoyable. Our family enjoyed this little place and would definitely recommend you give it a try if you are ever in the area. They say that their fried rice is a best seller, but we didn't try it this time. read more

Chinese Fried Rice at a Mexican restaurant.... WOW! It's the best of both food worlds! The fried rice made with fajita meat...LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! The rice was cooked perfectly, flavored nicely, and enough for 2 meals for me. I will definitely order this again. I was too busy chowing down on my food to ask my boys if they liked their burritos and tacos. They are all of theirs so I'm assuming they liked theirs as well. I have been many times to Street Tacos and have always enjoyed the nachos except the last few times the nachos have not been good. The quality of what goes on it has been good but the nachos were changed and seem to be stale the last few times I have had them. Love Street Tacos. I am partial to the shrimp soft tacos. Shrimp are very good and their sauce is also excellent. I always order "as is" with no changes to how they prepare it. The tamales are also very good. And, both the Street Fries and Street Rice are very good. They offer a small and large size. The small is more than enough for one person. But for sharing go with the large. Best Mexican in Oakland. I think most likely better than Memphis but I'm sure I haven't been to some there that are good. Way better than the other Mexican place around the corner. As a chain restaurant it is good. But Street Tacos is a treat!! read more

So it's been 7 years since my last review and this is still my favorite place to eat in Oakland. It's always fresh, always hot, always tasty! Here's what I'd recommend: XL Burrito, add cheese dip; Lamb Tacos; Carnitas Tacos; Street Rice; Street Corn; Tamales, add cheese sauce or salsa; Aqua Fresca to drink, the melon or pineapple are my favorites if pulp bothers you, get something else. My wife would add Volcano Tacos to this list. The staff is always nice and the restaurant is always clean. The price doesn't concern me as it's no more expensive than any other restaurant with this quality of food! read more

Located in a strip shopping center but very inviting. Nice patio area. Friendly service and large menu. I had the chicken tacos & street corn. Both delicious. Wife and her parents had combo meals. I have been to Street Tacos a couple of times and the staff was very nice and the food came out within 20 mins. The place was clean and I like the way they have the tall plants outside to give diners some privacy if they choose to eat there. I gave them 5 stars because their food was fresh and appetizing looking. I really didn't care for the food, but I feel like that was not on them, it was just it didn't appeal to me. I've always heard rave reviews about them so I know the food is excellent to the majority of the people. The only thing I would change is to put less on the menu board. I'm always afraid that if the menu board reads like a novel, you may get food that is either frozen or has been made made with less than fresh ingredients. IE Cheesecake Factory. read more
