I used to come to this restaurant a few years ago and I would have given it a 5 star but I went today at lunch, and was a bit disappointed. The prices had really went up which I understand, but the portions were cut down tremendously. The food was on the cold side and I was not impressed. The one thing that made this trip good for me was our waiter. He kept the refills of drinks coming and was so nice and we talked for quite a bit. Probably the friendliest waiter I have met. We left him a large tip even though the food was well.. I have heard that the drinks are really good so they are probably concentrating more on bar business. El Molino provides a standard Tex-Mex style menu. I ordered the Especial El Molino, which was a burrito and enchilada along with a blue curaçao margarita. I actually was not too much of a fan of the entree, but it was standard fare. The salsa was also ok. The margarita was good. But, my friend and I split a pitcher and didn't realize we got the largest and most expensive pitcher until we got the bill. I will say that we were served very fast and were always checked on...until the end. We kinda were left hanging for quite a while until we were seemingly the last table in the restaurant. Had them tonight & everything was standard, I should've taken pics, but I was hungry & ready to relax and chill. The time to get food was quick & of course that's because just like most of these places, everything is already pre-cooked, just about. The steak burrito was more like a taco, steak was delicious & cooked nicely. My guacamole dip was just mashed up avocados that looked like sweet peas baby food, although their pic shows it with onions, diced avocados & I believe tomatoes. The taco salad was shredded chicken that's been sitting in watery liquid w/cheese sauce, so my container had liquid rolling all around with unflavored, pulled chicken. Would I go back for food, no. The service is slow, no doubt about that but you don't feel rushed either. You can actually sit down with your family and have a good time. Came here for my daughters birthday and they catered to us! Sure it's annoying having to wait for the waiter to come back and be more attentive but the food is great and they are so sweet! They sang happy birthday to my daughter and brought out the sombrero for her to wear. I thought it was really sweet and funny lol that they gently smudged whipped cream on her face after their performance. She was not expecting that and she loved it! That made the wait so worth it and we all enjoyed our food very much. It was a win win. We will definitely be back. The shrimp is so good! I'm craving it now as I write this review! I ordered the Carne Asada on 8/15/23 and got food poisoning. I have been sick since that evening, all day yesterday and am still experiencing severe abdominal cramping and diarrhea on 8/17/23. When I contacted the restaurant to at least request my money back I was told I needed to submit documentation from the hospital. I advised I didn't go to the hospital and was treating myself at home and not wanting to incur a medical bill and was told there was nothing they could do. I wouldn't advise anyone to eat here because they had to have known the food was tainted and then to request a consumer to pay for a hospital visit just to be reimbursed for all of the inconvenience and pain associated with food poisoning is simply ridiculous. I will never frequent this business again. read more

The food isn't bad, it's just that's I always feel like I didn't quite get my money's worth considering what my other options in the city are. When I eat lunch at most Mexican restaurants, I don't usually order more. And I usually don't finish my meal, and then fill up on my chips and salsa. But I have here the last couple of times. It might be a year since I've been here, but it seems like a few years ago, they fed me more. The food I had today looked like El Paso from the Kroger. I give them only 2 stars for today, but out of maybe 8-9 meals, there have been better. I think this was the worst one. I gave 3 stars generously as an average. My pictures show this meal. The only saving grace they had today was that the salsa they served me was spot on after I added some hot sauce. It was chunky and it didn't come out of the refrigerator. When you make it fresh, room temperature is the best. When it comes out of the fridge, you know it was made and then stored for a while. The chips were just ordinary. This complex has very little visibility and may be the reason that it is only 1/3 occupied. Especially if you are going west, this place will flash by without you even seeing it. The for lease signs out front are bigger than the restaurant sign. You will want to drive slow and carefully if you want to come here without passing it. I think from now on, I'll go real fast and stop somewhere else. read more

OH MY GOSH! Why isn't El Molino on everyone's #1 list of Best Mexican Restaurants in The Mid South? Maybe we people in Bartlett should keep it to ourselves! Lol. No I can't do that. They deserve all the business they can get. I ate there years ago with my husband when they were new. The food was really good, but it was the middle of summer & the air conditioning was out. They were just trying to open, and had some construction issues they were still working out. We REALLY should have gone back, but life happened & them my husband got sick & passed away. I don't go out to eat very much because I am disabled and have been in bad health, so I have been ordering off of delivery apps, and ordering from El Molino lately. I ordered from Doordash tonight and my driver was great! My only complaint is that my stomach is not big enough to eat MORE of that delicious food. Lol. I usually order the Shrimp Chimi, sometimes tamales, always cheese dip, and their incredible homemade Salsa. That stuff is like GOLD! I always top it off with a wonderful creamy Flan.. Talk about heaven! The food is ALWAYS fresh, hot , and simply magical! You know the kind of food that when you eat it, you can't stop moaning with pleasure inbetween every bite? Yes, it's that good! I have already left a Google review, but after tonight's meal, I finally had to call up there, and tell them how happy I was with the food I received from the Doordash delivery tonight. The manager acted a bit surprised. I guess people who usually call are either wanting to book a reservation, or complain about something. Well , NO complaints here! I don't see how it could have been any better. The prices are fair, and the portions are very generous! I hear their service is good too. We've been back to this location several times since our initial visit. We finally got up enough nerve to consider ordering margaritas again but wanted to know what was used for them so we would know how to order them in the future if we had the same sour-faced experience as the time before. When we asked our very country-bumpkin server what sour mix was used in the house margarita she shifted her eyes around and said, "I dunno, ...like.... a bottle... of stuff." We ordered water per our now usual. :) While I totally get not knowing off hand what is used at the bar it's not far fetched to say, "I'm not sure but I can find out." This is one of me and my husband's favorite family Mexican restaurants. They're salsa is always fresh and flavorful and their margaritas are the best in town! We always get the chicken cheese and rice and add sauteed veggies. It's so much food we always have leftovers. The service is fast and very helpful. My wife and I have enjoyed going to El Molino for the past several years now - a good friend of hers recommended we go. Once we went, we got hooked - on the salsa, on the food, on the margaritas, the staff - you get the idea. Everything is scratch-made, and it all tastes great for that reason. You will have to taste it for yourself to know what I mean. It has taken a number of visits to try only some of the good dishes - and I'm not done yet - but the food is fantastic! It takes so many visits because I keep repeating the dishes that I like. It's a tough job - but I don't mind. Really. The staff are all good folks and can recommend what to try if you're not sure. Oh, and the margaritas are our favorite in town - and we have tried margaritas at most of the other Mexican restaurants around town. Mr. Gonzales has his own recipe. Try them for yourself. Shame you can't get them "to go". If you like good Mexican food, but have not been to El Molino yet - do it! Go taste how good the food is - you can call ahead and get it to go if you'd like. Doesn't get much better than this for cafeteria style Mexican food. Lunches average about $7 if you very a drink, less if you stick to water. I usually very the cheese enchilada platter which is an enormous amount of food so there is always a second helping for later. My husband gets the Chile which is also giant and he says it's the best he's ever had. It would be awesome if they served beer but, it won't stop me from eating here. read more

I have been coming to El Molino for years . My work group is around the corner. It has always been good an great service. On 0604 me an 3 friends were there at 330 . We now choose the patio due to Covid. It was filthy an food an dishes on every table. After we were told ok sit patio, no one came to clean off anything after a few minutes. We sat there an sanitized our own table an chairs. We mentioned it after a while since there was mess all around , waiter said busboy busy with to go orders. We had at least two different waiters an inside there were waitresses standing since it wasn't busy. Please ask them to clean patio in the future. read more

I feel like I found a gem tucked away in the middle of no where. My son had a cheese quesadilla and liked it so much he asked for more. I will definitely be back. I crave El Molino every single day! The portion sizes are always more than enough and I feel full, yet healthy and fulfilled when I'm done eating. The salsa is absolutely delicious. It's not too spicy, but packed with flavor! I usually either get the Fajitas El Molino or the Carne Asada. The prices are absolutely fair and I never feel like I've paid too much for what I'm given! Were going to dinner along Hwy 70 and discovered this place and remembered it was recommended by our friends. The waiter was very friendly and immediately attended to us. We inquired about the DoxXX on draft and it was only $6 a pitcher, wow. The large pitcher which was frozen and also included large frozen mugs. This was an unexpected delight. The salsa and chips were great. The fajita taco salads were very tasty and they got all the exceptions correct. Excellent food. We will have to go again as the food, drinks and service were fabulous. We experienced no problems or delays. This would work for a bar setting or just going out with friends. Large TVs were also available to watch sports events.
