Stalks of lemongrass was my elusive ingredient for a while. It was nowhere to be found at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Rice Market, or Good Fortune in Virginia. I gave Streets Market a try and it was hanging with the herbs in the produce section. My lemongrass chicken has now become one of my favorite meals to make. My dinner party guests a while ago loved it. Besides being a surprising place to find lemongrass, Streets is well stocked and convenient for almost anything in your kitchen. Your cooking, baking, snacking, and partying needs can all be met here. On the side, the prepared food section even looks good. The alcohol section in the back is quite expansive. Sometimes I like to peak in to see what flavors of Eastcider or canned cocktails they have. It's usually a little different from other stores. The Asian foods section is robust, with a very wide selection of instant noodles and Buldak ramen! Even though items can be a few dollars more here, it's worth giving it a try if you need something that you cannot get to a large grocery store for. Plus, Streets is well spread out through the city. Some are a little bit different than others, like the 14th St. location has a coffee shop and a section for food cooked to order. read more

Nice little store close by the hotel where I was staying so I could get some items for breakfast and snacks. The service was kind and warm, with people who helpfully pointed me toward the items I needed and even opened my non-screwcap water. It's not going to have everything you need, but they have a lot more than you'd expect. read more

So convenient and they always have everything I need. I will say it's a little expensive but you can't beat the location and selection.

Cute Market right beside the Georgetown Marriott, super convenient and stocked with just about anything you might need. Nice selection of a variety of items and even had a little sushi counter in the back. We picked up this, a few other snack items, as well as a protein pack that was filled with a nicely cooked chicken breast and boiled eggs. My only complaint would be that while shopping my husband needed to use the restroom and they denied service saying "it's not open to the public" which seemed odd since we had a basket full and were active customers. To: Streets Market Home Headquarters I have been shopping at Streets on 22nd Street NW since the store opened a few years ago because I live right around the corner on N Street. Very often the price at the register is more than the label on the shelf and the staff has been kind enough to adjust the price. The clerks tell me corporate computers raise the prices before the store gets a chance to change the sticker prices. Today I had such a problem when I bought 3 cans of organic beans marked at $3.29 each on the shelf but rang up as $3.49. I was due $.60. The store clerk told me I should shop some where else because there is always a problem when I shop there....which is at least 2 or 3 times a week. I was upset by her rude comment because I am a loyal customer and frequent shopper who expects to pay posted prices. Please school your clerks on Customer Service and make sure the shelf prices are correct before the customer gets to the register. Thank you. The store is very convenient if you live close, it is not a full size grocery store but has most things necessary. On thing to note in this store is the SUSHI counter. Too bad that place doesn't have its own name or a yelp page, so it has to go under this. I bought a full sushi platter and it was quite good for $95. I recommend checking them out. Again, with travel the quality does go down vs eating in a restaurant, but it is a good alternative. read more

This market is a super addition to Dupont. They are well stocked with the basics but also have a variety of gourmet/interesting items in the store. Their fruits and vegetables are always fresh which is not always the case in the larger grocery stores! It's the only place in town I can find larger containers of my favorite multi grain Firehook Baked Crackers! Their staff is helpful and friendly. The store's manager, Karen rocks! I had an issue with an Uber delivery recently and she went above and beyond to take care of the issue. Streets Market is lucky to have her. She is a throw back to the days when customer service really mattered to businesses. read more

Racists... walked in to grab a few items for myself as I am here for a quick layover; I was consistently watched for which I can let go of, but having the manager/owner a older man of asian descent to hurriedly go and stand in front of the exit as if I was going to run out without paying is ridiculous. Great small market with most anything you could need. Good selection of fresh sushi. I enjoyed the grilled salmon for takeout (freshly packaged). Good selection of wines and drinks. First time I bought/saw a Savia coconut milk drink with pieces of coconut in it - chocolate & strawberry flavored available too. There are some unique products. read more

It's been extremely impressive how Streets has stepped up since I left my review months ago. The current team they have there are hard workers, especially those at the registers who are in frequent contact with people. The owner has put up protective measures to keep staff and customers safe. They seem to have an eye out for what the customers need and are trying to stay stocked up. I've also seen a change in staff since their opening and this group is much friendlier and helpful. I am so grateful for this market! read more

I go shopping there almost every weekend. Last week, I had forgot my coffee and those wonderful ladies behind the register kept it for me and when I returned back today, they gave it back. Good for staples and some produce. I have had 0 success w/any unprocessed meats (chicken thighs, breasts, ground beef). I purchased some thighs this afternoon and when I got home and opened them to prep - they smelled rancid. After a futile attempt to make it through the trimming process coinciding with my girlfriend walking into the apartment and shouting and I quote "Why does it smell like poop?"....I gave up, threw them away and ran them out to the dumpster. I have washed my hands, lit candles, sprayed febreeze and showered but the smell lingers... Wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences read more

I had a wonderful experience shopping here. Lots of organic produce, the latest health foods, and a nice wine selection. Yes, some of the organic stuff is expensive (as is everywhere unfortunately), but they had lots of stuff on sale. I also liked that they had foods popular to other cultures - it wasn't all food you could find in any every American grocery store. read more

While I'm very glad to have Streets close by, I'm concerned about the utter lack of attention to the expiration of this store's meats, dairy products, and produce. I can only buy non-perishable foods from this store. The meat is literally green, and the other day I bought milk without paying attention and it was chunky when I opened it. Sometimes I will pick up a vegetable that basically squishes upon touch. Finally, the employees clearly don't want to properly take inventory. When they run out of the products I typically buy, I notice that those products don't return to the shelves for MONTHS. I have tried to bring this to the attention of multiple employees, explaining that a certain product has been out of stock for over a month. Each one shrugs and says "I don't know, sorry." It's not that these products are flying off of the shelves - it's that they only restock once every three months. Overall, this is a poorly run store, which is a shame because Streets is a great local chain. read more

What a find! We stayed at the District by Hilton Club (inside the Embassy Suites) across the street and this was just the ticket for little takeout food and snacks. Vegan, even, which is important to me. Their sushi chef made us custom sushi every time, and it was great. Highly recommended! read more

There are not a ton of really close grocery stores in that little pocket of the West End/Dupont border. Trader Joe's is a bit of a walk, Whole Foods is a bit of a hike, so I was excited to see how large this place is for a little corner market, and actually their prices aren't outrageous, even though yes, TJ's is cheaper. What disappointed me is the freshness. I went on January 6th and all their low-carb tortilla wraps expired late December. I went to buy turkey bacon, same thing, already expired. C'mon, don't sell expired stuff! I bought chicken breast that according to the package wasn't expired, and was pretty pricey, but when I opened it the chicken was pretty slimey and smelly. Maybe I'll go for alcohol and some non-perishable kinda stuff here and there, but this place isn't the market I was hoping it would be. read more
