It's close and has a basketball gym which I enjoy. I came with my sister to meet my brotha J because we were in the area and we decided to play basketball. It's a nice spaces gym. The 2nd floor has cardio equipment like treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes! With the group x room where they hold classes. The swimming pool is at the bottom, with free weights and assisted weights machines. Ima give this place a 4 because it's not 24 hours 24/7 and it's not so clean. Parking is in the structure across from it which is free but you'll have to find parking or there's street parking where you have to pay the meter! That said, one thing that has been really frustrating is the summer program where high school students can work out for free. I think it is a great idea in theory, getting kids active is a positive thing. The issue is how it is being managed. After typical work hours, when paying members come in to work out, a lot of these teens are occupying machines while filming TikToks or just hanging out, and staff does not step in at all. It ends up putting members in the uncomfortable position of having to say something ourselves, which should not be our responsibility. It would make a big difference if there were designated hours for the student program, for example earlier in the day, and then have them wrap up around 4pm so paying members can actually access the equipment during peak times. Again, I really like this gym, but this situation needs better management.

During an actual LA heatwave, the filtered water has been broken for DAYS. Because apparently hydration is now a luxury amenity. Nothing says "fitness" like sweating through a workout and then being told, "Sorry, the water machine is out of order." And the walls? Falling apart. Literally. Meanwhile, half the machines are covered in yellow caution tape like we're filming an episode of CSI: Gym Membership. I understand letting kids in during the summer is a nice thing, but I have to ask: at what cost to the regular gym-goers who are paying to work out in what increasingly feels like a low-budget municipal recreation center? At this point, I'm not sure if I'm here to get my steps in or participate in a live episode of Extreme Gym Makeover: Please Send Help. To be fair, the staff is actually wonderful -- friendly, helpful, and clearly doing their best with what they've been given. The staff gets 5 stars. The facility gets a strongly worded investigative report.

5 stars - my go-to Equinox location…read more Equinox Studio City is my home gym and I'm here pretty much every day. I've been to Hollywood, DTLA, West Hollywood, Glendale, Santa Monica, and Studio City is still my favorite overall. Biggest thing is cleanliness. For how busy this place gets, it's always maintained. Towels are always stocked, locker rooms are constantly being cleaned, and I've never walked into a shower that was out of products. There's always staff in there keeping everything in check. Another huge win is Erewhon Studio City right next door. You finish your workout and immediately have a solid post-workout meal ready. Nothing beats that. There's no Earth Bar here, but honestly you don't even need it because Erewhon is better. You do have to time your workouts though. Early mornings before 8am are the best, weekends early are even better and usually empty. After 9-10am it starts getting packed, and evenings around 5-7pm are honestly tough if you're trying to get a smooth workout in. People complain about parking because the plaza gets busy, but I've never had an issue. I go early, get a great spot, and I'm out before it gets crazy. One issue I've raised multiple times is people bringing oils into the steam room. When they pour it in, the whole place smells, it sticks to your body and hair, and I've had allergic reactions from it. It happens less now, but when it does it completely ruins the steam room. Feels like something that could be controlled better. The vibe here is more low-key, which I like. People mind their business and just work out. Compared to Hollywood, which can feel more social and sometimes uncomfortable, Studio City feels way more normal and focused. Front desk and trainers are hit or miss. Some are great, some don't even acknowledge you. Trainers here mostly keep to themselves unless you hire them, while other locations feel more welcoming. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Music is at a good level too--it doesn't interfere with your headphones, which I appreciate. At the end of the day, I'm here daily for a reason. If you figure out the timing, this is one of the best Equinox locations in LA.
