    Bullshitting Manager.
    Garrett S.

As per my last review, out of everyone at stretch lab, Amanda treated me better than anyone else. And then I left a review based on my experiences with the bullshitting manager pictured. I am now updating my review to let you know of a terrible injustice that occurred at StretchLab. An anonymous coward presenting and signing as "stretchlab staff" contacted me under the account "David J" to let me know that they fired Amanda, the one person at Stretchlab who treated me well. They wrote: -- "Amanda has been terminated. Hopefully this resolves your issue & you will remove your review. Best regards, Stretchlab" -- in direct message to me. This is clearly misdirected retaliatory action against Amanda, whose misdeed was treating me with decency and respect. That's how malevolent these people are. How much lower can you get? I hope Amanda sues them.

I'm a regular at StretchLab MV, and I recommend it highly! I've been a regular since it opened in 2019, and I'm consistently happy with the stretches, the staff and the value. I started coming to help me take better care of my back and prevent injury, but I've become a consistent fan for reasons beyond that. My muscles get stretched safely and well beyond what I could do on my own, and as a result I can move more freely and comfortably throughout the week. My stretches also supplement my other exercise beautifully and even release stored tension from various parts of my body. And the team tends to my needs in a positive, personal way. The flexologists are skilled and personable. They know their stuff, remember how my muscles typically respond, and adjust accordingly. I look forward to my sessions, and I consistently feel healthier and happier afterwards. The regional manager is also exceptionally good. He sets a great tone for the studio, values the team and the clients, and ensures the client experience is not just about helpful and safe stretches but also a positive personal experience. The front desk staff is also terrific - consistently warm, helpful and accommodating, easily handling both drop-ins and regular appointments. They're genuinely interested in providing an excellent overall experience. The studio is also clean, sanitized and comfortable, and has convenient parking. Based on my experience, I recommend the weekly membership for most people. I find that getting stretched regularly and developing relationships with the staff gives me the best value. In sum, StretchLab MV provides a unique and helpful service (1-on-1 assisted stretching) in a personal way for a good price. And I've always felt welcomed and valued there - not just as a client, but as a person. I recommend this studio highly!

UPDATE: So I've now been at PB MV over 6 mo. With holidays last year and that terrible cold/flu…read morethat went around earlier this year, I did 100 sessions in about 6 mo + 1 week. (No "100" socks pictured; they're waiting to get in my size!) I'm happy and grateful to have this studio to stick with. I really like the instructors, staff, and owners. I'm stronger than I've been in years. Though I had laparoscopic surgery last year, I was finally able to do a real full sit-up (using just my core, not my arms, legs, or momentum) just this month. I still can't do full push ups, but I'm doing very solid half push ups -- hips flat/down, arms and elbows in. My lower back is stronger but still on the weaker side -- this is a problem area for several women in my family. My feet are much improved -- I have a variant of plantar fasciitis and wear inserts outside the studio. It wasn't clear whether PB would be good or bad for my feet, but it turns out it's been really good! (If not, I would have modified the exercises, or switched to something else.) There's a few other things I'm tracking/working on, but all in all, PB has been very, very good for me. Honestly, I'm not a hugely exercise-y person, and I envy people who actually look forward to working out! That said, I really like the staff and the other women and handful of men who come to work out. I'm sticking with PB MV bc it's a crucial part of my health regimen, and this studio makes working out consistently as doable for me as possible. Just a note their class schedules change from month to month. Meaning if one month works perfectly for you, enjoy it but maybe don't get used to it. But if it's terrible, the next month will probably be a lot better. Come check them out!

Advocating for Chair Yoga Class for Our Older Seniors…read more Hi everyone, I am writing on behalf of our older citizens at 24 Hours, Mountain View. 24 Hours, Mountain View is a very good gym and very accommodating, especially to our seniors. That is why it is very high on my excellent gym list. I respect their corporate office as well. Within the past few months, they have added new senior fit classes. They even bought more chairs for these classes. Thank you! One important class remains to be added to the list though. It is Chair Yoga. All the older seniors that talked to me are interested in this type of Yoga class because they said the other Senior Yoga class is too advanced for them. I know that Tommy De Leon, the General Manager, is trying his best to balance the demands for more classes from clients with the approvals of the classes from corporate. So far, he has been doing a great job. Already, I have talked with one of the Yoga instructors who comes to substitute in Mountain View. Her name is Naz. She is willing to teach the Chair Yoga class. She also told me that she had taught Chair Yoga here in 24 Hours, Mountain View, before the COVID pandemic. In the meantime, I have checked the class schedule for available time spots in the morning. They are Mondays (10:30 -11:30 am) and Sundays (11:30 am - 12:30 pm). Naz, however, has confirmed that she could teach the Chair Yoga class only on Fridays (1:00 -2:00 pm), which is a very good time for our older seniors. 24 Hours, Mountain View, is already helping our seniors in their fitness journey to age gracefully. Please, continue to help them with compassion by adding this important class for them. Therefore, any senior who is interested in this Chair Yoga class should add their comments to this review so that the management and corporate can see the demands for the Chair Yoga class. Thank you!

After completing those initial sessions, I realized they mainly consisted of using the gym machines to train core muscles. Unfortunately, the training package automatically renewed without clear notice and charged my credit card for another 4 sessions. Although I liked working with the trainer, I soon suffered a serious ankle sprain. I was bedridden for nearly a month and unable to drive for another month. When I finally recovered enough to return, I discovered my membership had been deactivated. I was not allowed to use my remaining training sessions. It has now been over a month, and they still have not reactivated my account despite multiple attempts. In total, I paid more than $600, yet I was unable to use the services I paid for because of my injury and their deactivation policy. To make matters worse, I was charged an additional $64 on the very day I got injured and called to cancel my session in advance. The lack of flexibility, compassion, and professionalism is deeply disappointing. Their policies feel greedy and punitive rather than customer-focused. I strongly recommend others think twice before signing up with this facility and its management.

But after learning to pace myself a bit more and using more of my legs and hips, got the hang of it and enjoyed both the technical skills and aerobic workout. Boxing is both intuitive and counterintuitive to me. Shannon (great instructor) explained how clenching your fists or having tension in your arms counterintuitively leads to weaker punches. And that relaxing the arms up until the moment of impact is the most effective way to punch. It feels very unnatural, until it isn't. The legwork also feels counter-intuitve initially and then it starts to make sense (ex jab as your lead foot steps forward, cross off your back foot) Good mix of both men and women, beginners and intermediates. You'll get a sweaty intense workout (if you choose to go all in), and then off-ramped by some light core work and a cooldown stretch. Pro tip: come early if it's your first time. They recommend half an hour before class. They'll help you tape up your hands, pick the right sized gloves, and show you the basics.
