At Swim Day with Jay, the instructors teach the children all different types of safety and swimming maneuvers in addition to regular swimming, so it feels well rounded and not like a "swim factory". There's a lot of seating everywhere, and when tables run out, there's a whole grass area you can set up your chair and whatever else you brought in. On one side is the splash playground, which is so much fun even for adults. On the other side is the big pool that is fun to swim in. There's plenty of parking here, and it's only about 5 dollars per person to get in. The best part is they don't close like the Verdugo one in between sessions. This one allows you to stay from open to close, with every now and then closing just to inspect the equipment for 15 minutes, but then you can go back in and have a blast. The Verdugo one only lets you in for about 1.5 hours max, then you get kicked out. It is separated into two sessions and is honestly a little bit of a hassle. That's why this one is the one you want to check out. Your kiddos will love it!

The instructor we had at another Water Wings was so unenthusiastic we were not sure about giving Water Wings another shot but I'm glad we did. We are still pretty early in the swim lesson journey, so I will be sure to update my review. The baby and me class is 30 mins and it goes by quickly. I love that they have showers and dressing rooms so you can change after the class. They even have some small snacks for sale which is nice if your kiddo gets hungry. I can't wait for us to graduate to the next class up because the process of the kids moving up looks so cute! However, as we continued, each lesson was with a different instructor, and that lack of consistency made my son increasingly uncomfortable. At his age, familiarity matters, and it became clear he wasn't settling in the way I had hoped. What ultimately led me to write this review, though, was not the instructors--it was the customer service. My interactions with the scheduler/representative regarding scheduling, missed days, and invoices were unpleasant and rigid. There was very little kindness or willingness to work with me, and the communication felt cutthroat rather than supportive. Because of this inflexibility, my son essentially missed out on continued lessons. Instead of working with me as a parent trying to navigate life with two young kids and a disabled husband, I felt pushed out over a missed appointment. In retrospect, I now see how much that experience negatively impacted my son's relationship with the water. I'm writing this while watching my son thrive at Water Wings, where he is happy, confident, and excited to learn. Seeing the difference has made me realize just how behind he became due to how things were handled at Aqua Buddies. Thankfully, there are other options in this city.
