We had great, prompt service and the venue still allows outside food to be brought in; another in my group actually arranged to have a meal delivered from another venue nearby. The Bar features quite a few beers from Great Lakes, a local Brewery and their prices are very good. Music was playing while we were there but it wasn't loud enough to impair our conversations. Although pretty small, the venue is in a convenient location on the subway line and they have a 'garage door' at the front which opens to provide a great view of the street. I recommend a visit if you're in the area, like quality drinks (beers) at good prices, and don't mind a dark venue with a somewhat 'dive-y' atmosphere.

I think I was intimidated because there's not much information about the joint online. I walked in and there were a few people having drinks, so I grabbed a seat at the end of the bar. After walking by for months and seeing the sign for their own Kanu Lager, I obviously had to order that. It's a very simple, very tasty lager that's super easy to drink. I'll definitely be drinking it again. I was feeling a little peckish, too, so I asked to see a menu. Everything sounded really tasty, so I asked for a recommendation and wound up with the Calamari Rings. They're surprisingly, shockingly good. They're perfectly fried and enhanced by a really tasty (and spicy) dipping sauce. I also want to single out the ambience and the service, both of which were tremendously appealing. It's a small, dark bar, which I love, and my server was helpful without being intrusive. I really don't know why it took me so long to check out Kanu. It's a really cool little place and I'm looking forward to stopping by on a regular basis in the future.

There's a nostalgic feeling walking in. Yes, it smells like stale smoke and has a quaint vibe but that is the genuine vibes of a local bar. One beer on tap (Cameron's lager) and a small menu. The fries and chicken tenders were perfectly cooked. They definitely hit the spot while we waited and drank out beers. The barkeep was genuinely friendly and the small clientele gave off friendliness with their pleasant banter. Some local places can be stand off-ish when outsiders come into their sacred spaces but not Alice's. We told our other friends who also came too early to the party to meet us there as well and they were pleasantly surprised with the old school vibes. Give Alice's Place a try. There's a no nonsense and friendliness to this bar that is missed and can't be replicated with the new bars in Toronto.

There's nothing special about it, other than people liking the karaoke in the evenings. When I dropped in it was early in the evening and there were only a couple of us there. It was easy to strike up a conversation with the staff and the one guy there too! I showed them the old Yelp check-in offer of a margarita which left them scratching their heads, "we made margarita's wha??!" which is apparently a holdover from when they first opened about 10 years ago but the old Yelp offer is still on the books lol. I was still looking for a TH whole beans to send to a friend. Again, they didn't have any in stock. This was our 4th Tim Horton's that we visited over the course of our week-long vacation and they didn't have the coffee beans. Timmie's serves coffee, doughnuts, and other fast-food items.
