Strong Builders completed a 500 square foot addition to our house back in March, and we can honestly say we have never been so happy to "Stay at Home." Firstly, Craig and Tim were both great to work with. I felt comfortable with both of them from the start. I am a meticulous DIYer, and have high expectations for the work on my house. I also wanted to do some pieces of the projects myself to save some money. They worked around my schedule, and we were able to do everything we wanted. We asked to have regular meetings to connect about plans and progress and to go over any work. Whenever there was something we wanted fixed, they were quick to take action and made things right. They were also always happy to take a call or answer a text, and they kept us in the loop every step of the way. Because I'm used to doing it all myself, and they were usually working while I was away, this really helped me to feel a part of what was going on! Not only was the quote we received from Strong Builders VERY competitive, they stayed on budget! Any increases were due to choices we made along the way and were always talked about in advance. We knew just what to expect and there were no surprises at the end. The whole team was friendly and polite. My wife always felt safe at home while they were there, and I appreciated what a clean job site they kept. I was also impressed with some of their creative solutions to challenges in the project. We highly recommend requesting George for any tile project you might have. He worked with precision and always checked to make sure we were satisfied. We were annoyingly particular and he happily met our OCD-like expectations! Donado (sp?) was their jack-of-all-trades and around all the time. The whole thing did take longer than we expected, however, all along the way we told the fellas that we didn't mind wait, as long as things were done well! A long overdue review but nonetheless it is here. We have a 3 story home and hired Craig and his team to build an additional 2 floor bedroom and incorporated the garage workshop into the main home and added additional windows to our living room. Pros: - You get what you ask for. Everything turned out the way we discussed prior to construction - Crew was always on time - Crew was respectful to our family (we lived throughout the construction) - They kept mess to a minimum as best as possible - Some members were very skilled and perfectionist at their work (tiling - the British guy was very good, a perfectionist in his work) - Accommodating to change - They work with you to find a solution as unexpected problem arises Cons: - Like most project, the timeline never matches what you have in mind, it took a little longer than expected but that's normal so make sure you have some cushion - Like said, some members were more skilled than others and it shows in their work - You do need to look at the work at days end to make sure it is exactly what you wanted otherwise you need to communicate the corrections immediately before permanent work is done Tim was the leading man on site most of the time and he is a sweetheart to communicate with. They kept me updated throughout the process. I really love the way my home turned out and would recommend them for your remodel. My post was mysteriously deleted or hidden, so here it is again. I will update my review as I report to other agencies and our progress. I was going to hold off from writing this review about Strong Builders depending on the smoothness of the outcome. But since Craig has decided to threaten my family with a second Invalid lien, I thought this would be the right time. Our project began back in April of 2019. A 5 month completion time was agreed upon via text, email and verbal and we are approaching the 10th month with Craig constantly delaying our project. The project manager assured on 1/24/20, that their HVAC guy would return to address 2 errors on the unit Strong Builders puts hands on. This unit was part of our home. Craig charged us to bring it up to speed. It is not. It worked fine prior to whatever work was done on it. It now shuts off every 15 or so without notice. The master bath vent is leaking and baseboards are dinged up and damaged. Craig is not your friend. He will drown you with "change orders" and empty promises throughout your project. He is only on site to accept payment and has zero knowledge of what happens at your house. It has been 5 months since Craig has visited our project and still has zero knowledge of the work. He goes based off second hand information from his project manager who pops in once during the day and disappears the rest of the day although there are only 2 projects going on at Stong Builders. Where does he go? Shouldn't he be supervising your project? Isn't that what one pays for? After passing final inspection on the 5th try, Craig is unwilling to credit us the allowances we did not use. Per his Project Manger Tim we would be credited at final payment. Obviously, their word means nothing. Let's start from the beginning 1. He attempted to pocket our $9500 waste disposal fee. He filled the form under his name and tried to dissuade us by telling us that it's difficult to get your money back. Once his name was changed to ours and he provided us the disposal receipts, we had our deposit refund within 7 days of turning it into the city. 2. Reused our beams from our demoed addition and then lied to us that they were trashed. I took pictures of my attic and discovered 3 of my 4 beams in the framing of my home. Prior to demo, I specifically told him to set them aside for a project I had in mind in the future. The 4th beam was straight stolen by Strong Builders as it went missing all together. 3. Contract states level 3 smooth finish. We counted 2. Subcontractor claims 5 coats were applied, project manager assured us 4. Which one is it? 4. Damaged our new doors and windows and claimed they came that way. 5. Will allow strangers to walk through your home in an attempt to get work at your expense. 6. Will threaten you with a invalid mechanics lien if he doesn't get his way. We found out about the invalid mechanics lien when I went to the court and showed them the contract and pictures of uncompleted bathrooms. 7. Will out source his workers to other states and locations and claim that there are several men at your job site everyday when there is not. 8. Lied about gas test being signed off by city inspectors when it wasn't. 9. Make sure you are present at every inspection. 10. Hire a private home inspector to thoroughly check that your home is being constructed to code. We hired a private inspector twice and he uncovered several dozen areas where strong builders had put hands and we were shocked at what the inspector uncovered in his report. 11. Project manager was told that circuit breakers needed to be installed at main panel on 12/13 but orders them on 19th and further delaying our project. 11. Both his project manager and never on site. 12. Through a tantrum in front of my wife and I because he claimed he was going to lose money if he had to do a Venetian finish on our home, which was in the contract. 13. Drops "F" bombs during phone conversations if you tell him to vacate the home for 2 weeks so that you're floor guy can install flooring. ***READ YOUR CONTRACT WITH CRAIG** Do not sign it if he includes a mechanics lien. If he wants the job that much, he won't include it. That's his way of threatening you if you question his work. He will not hesitate to put a lien on your home even though you are current on you're payments. Insert a date of completion with $100-$200 deducted for everyday he goes over the expected completion date. Get several quotes. Get someone that knows how to reads your plans. Be suspicious of his notes at the bottom of the contract. If their are several, then that means he knows the overall work on the project and is covering himself from doing that work. We were set up with Craig and Strong Builders by our landscaper. Couldn't be any happier. From day 1 Craig was constantly in touch with us. He came out to make measurements and always asked us what we wanted. You'd be surprised at the guys who come out and don't care for your, the homeowner, two cents. Sorely disappointed with this company. Was supposed to complete a full remodel on family home within budget. Made a detail list of all that would include. Family started process paying for drawings permits and made arrangements to move all things out of home to storage so company could begin. Craig came by and pulled out literally a week before project was supposed to begin. Only stated that he would lose money on the project. Should have been a man of his word and delivered on all the promises he made. Now my family is out thousands of dollars. Tried to find another contractor to complete project and was not able to. I had a terrible plumbing problem, outside pipe burst, (we could hardly use the toilet), during the New Year's holiday week-end, while out of town guests were visiting! Strong Builders, Inc., recently replaced our 30 year old roof. We have been extremely pleased with the professionalism and high quality work provided by Jessel, Craig and the team. We started having leaks in our roof about four years ago. As time went on they got worse and started damaging the ceilings, things in the attic and electrical system of the house. We contacted Craig Lloyd at Strong Builders, Inc. He came out to the house and looked at the damage. He suggested a new roof and bid the job. The bid was competitive and thorough, outlining costs, labor and materials. We decided to move forward. On the first day, the roofing crew arrived early in the morning with the city permits pulled and quickly started work. They removed the existing tile and felt and found huge holes underneath. Our hearts sank. The bid covered minor wood repair but not anything major. The extra work was again bid fairly and completed the same day. At the end of each day, our property was cleaned thoroughly and all debris was removed. I think they left it cleaner than when they arrived! By the time they left on day one, the roof was completely ready to have the new materials installed. On the second day, much of the roofing material was installed. The crew worked efficiently and I was amazed by their progress. The third day I called my mom to see how the roof was coming along. She said it was done and the inspectors were coming out on the fourth day to finalize inspection. I couldn't believe it! When I drove into the driveway after work, this is what I saw. The roof passed inspection without a problem and we couldn't be happier with it. We can't wait until it rains!!! We were so happy with the experience that we decided to have Strong Builders, Inc. bid the exterior trim paint job.
