It's hard to know where to begin because the experience with KM is so different from that experienced with typical contractors. Communication. Typically a major frustration with contractors was in fact excellent with KM. Emails and calls were returned in a timely manner and they go to great lengths to explain the process and provide a detailed timeline. Duration of work. We had gotten estimates of 4-6 months to complete our remodel; KM was finished in a little over a month. They stuck to their schedule (despite problems that arose with suppliers) and always communicated any changes that were required. They handled all of the permitting requirements, and in Davis that is not a small task. Notable is that a KM staffer came to the house the day of final inspection and looked at the whole house for potential problems. He replaced ALL of our smoke detectors at no cost just to make sure there were no problems with the inspection. The Davis inspector was very impressed with the work and passed the job without any concerns. Quality of work. We had superb craftsmen work on our project; John and Zachary and Joe were all just excellent. They took pride in their work, showed up on time, and always communicated what they were doing. They took great pains to minimize dust and overall mess. Huge sheets of plastic were placed floor to ceiling to localize the dust and debris. Sheets of protective material were placed on the floor. Everything was done in a professional manner. The supervisor of our project, Edgar, was remarkable in watching over the project and being there whenever needed. Sourcing of materials. KM can provide pretty much everything you need with regards to cabinets, fixtures and some appliances. The quality of all materials from KM was excellent and so much more convenient than searching it out on your own. I have to add, however, that their recommended appliance source, A-1 appliance, was very disappointing. A-1 failed to order our rangetop despite it being paid for well in advance, and their installers were incompetent and rude. Our project foreman, Edgar, intervened and was a lifesaver in getting a rangetop in time to prevent a major delay, and in fixing the poor installation provided by A-1. Cost. We had many estimates for our remodel and KM was far from the highest. Their estimate was very accurate and very reasonable considering the quality of work, convenience, and the speed with which the work was done. In summary, Kitchen Mart stands way way above the pack when it comes to the often tedious and stressful process of remodeling your home. They offer a one stop solution, do superb work at a reasonable price, and complete the work in a very timely fashion. We plan to have them do our bathrooms and in fact would not consider anyone else.

He is easy to work with and provides good recommendations for options or improvements that can be made. I ask a lot of questions, and he was happy to answer them all and explain patiently. Other parts of the project like plumbing, electrical and stone countertops Mike has people he works with to complete the job seamlessly. They cut, polished, and installed a quartzite countertop and sink, added plumbing for the shower, and installed a glass shower door. Overall, the project was completed quickly. We chose Vostok Construction to remodel our primary bathroom/bedroom that had lots of water damage. We knew that it would be a big job (needed new subfloor and floor joists and studs in one wall) and they took care of us. They were very careful to make sure their mess didn't get anywhere outside of the job site, took their time to make the finishes look just right, and were courteous and kind to myself and my kids. And Igor's tiling is absolutely stunning. I have high standards for finishes and I cannot find a flaw in our tile--he's that good. Eric and Alex were super helpful with seeing our vision and explaining what would be cost effective but also functional. I never felt like either of them pushed me to do something I didn't want (and as a people pleaser, that's hard!). The job had a couple of rough spots (bad plumbing from the previous contractor, and a paint color mixup etc.) but each time there was an issue, the communication was clear and they let us know what needed to be done. They were patient when we realized our faucets and other metal finishes weren't matching and did their best to help us find what we needed. They finished the job in the timeframe they quoted us even with some hiccups along the way. I would 100% recommend Vostok Construction (and I have to some friends!). I hope to use them again in the near future for some more bathrooms and a living room overhaul.

My husband and I started planning to build an ADU for my mom after she retired. We wanted her to…read morelive near us, but have her own space with her own privacy and comfort. We interviewed a few construction companies and felt that A+ Construction PRO was the best choice for us. The project itself was a detached 1-bedroom ADU in our back yard. The process was so much easier than I expected. Rod presented the development process and details in a very realistic manner. He didn't make any false promises or try to sell us on lots of unnecessary upgrades. The design phase of the ADU took a little time to come to completion because my mom continued to modify the floor plan and the finish out of the kitchen as we moved through the design phase. The team was very patient with my mom and helped us to come up with a design that best served her needs of her space. I like that they paid close attention to the practicalities of the bathroom and the storage in the unit. I think designer Irene did a great job in this area. The crew was very professional. The site was always cleaned up after each workday. Communication with the office was good throughout most of the construction process. One minor thing that impacted the project was the typical delays that there are with inspections. But this was not a problem for us as we were always made aware of when each inspection was scheduled and any resulting delays. My mom loves it and ADU honestly turned out better than I could have imagined.

The folks at A+ were very forthcoming in their bid process and told us what to expect. As opposed to some of the other contractors that gave us a very general number that could change depending on when they got around to it, A+ spelled everything out for us and gave us a solid idea of what our garage conversion would cost. Our project manager Nick was pretty accessible before construction started and even more so once the work began. He was pretty prompt in returning my mom's calls. I also liked that the construction crew was consistently on site. I've heard of a lot of other contractors leaving a job to return days or even weeks later to complete more work. That didn't happen here. The finished ADU is very clean and modern. The mini-split is very functional. The insulation added to the garage is very noticeable on the hotter days and the completed ADU is very spacious and never feels closed in. All in all, we had a pretty good experience with A+ Construction, and we would likely hire them for future projects.
