Hired him to paint my home, etc.-said he wanted to take care of everything for me so I don't get ripped off - he diluted the paint, lied and bullsh... his way on everything. His workers told me what his scam was because they thought I was a nice person and Constantly asked for more money upfront to pay his own home bills and shutoff notices - had his two kids work for him and then told me it's was their first time doing any of it. Paid him in full because he again begged that he needed it to pay for his van repairs, his electric bills, etc. and then laughed about filling the sealer bucket with 1/2 water - because I would never know the difference on sealing the rock walls of my home. Told him that my cameras showed that he only put one coat on an exterior walls, told me two times that he put 4 coats on - sprayed all over my windows and screens, dripped paint down into my trim, ruined landscaping, etc. - and then as soon as he was paid in full - had his guys come to my house and pick up all of their equipment without the job completed rectified. Homeowners with big hearts beware! Run, he's a con man. That's the last time I'll ever let someone come in without ANY references! My fault.

Avoid Olde Town Customs - Unprofessional, Rushed, and Poor Workmanship…read moreI highly regret hiring Olde Town Customs to install 400 square feet of vinyl flooring. The material was previously used in another area of my home, but the vast majority was in good, useable shape, with the rest available for cuts. The contractor rushed the job, did not plan the layout, and stopped at 75% claiming he ran out of material. He then admitted he only allotted 2 hours for the entire job. He demanded full payment for an incomplete job, which I refused. He told me to buy 100 sq ft of a "close match" since my original flooring was discontinued. When he returned to finish, he completely failed to stagger the planks. He left an ugly, mismatched grid pattern on a quarter of my room that looks completely unprofessional. When confronted, he snapped at me, blamed me for not buying 10% extra (even though I bought exactly what he told me to), and stated he did not have time to fix it. He demanded the remaining balance and I only paid him to get him out of my house. Save your money and find a contractor who takes pride in their work and respects their customers.

While I understand some things cannot stay the same, the new owners need to talk with Mrs. Griswold as to how to display and bring in items that made it so unique and interesting. With the General Store across the street, (which is outstanding), The Salt Box will not survive at this rate, which is sad. Metamora is a destination... it's on the map now. Make it worth the visit.
