I had a wonderful experience with getting Lasik surgery by Dr. Winthrop. His entire staff is so kind, knowledgeable and wonderful! They did lots of tests the day before the surgery to get everything set up correctly with my prescription. On the day of the surgery his receptionist explained to me every detail of what I could expect so that I would be more at ease when those things occurred. The surgery room is a glass room with a tv monitor that shows what is happening. When his receptionist asked me I initially asked for the curtains to be closed for privacy. Once in the room, I changed my mind and the staff opened the curtains when I asked. My parents were in the lobby and I felt more at ease knowing they could see me. During the surgery there were several surgical staff members in the room to monitor me. One of the staff members must have been able to tell I was nervous and sat with me and held my hand the entire time. Having that support made such a huge difference. I got nervous during the surgery and the Dr asked if I was ok and needed a break. I just wanted to get on with it and continued to take deep breaths. The surgery is nothing crazy -the worst part was seeing the flap close back down on the eye- I just tend to get anxiety and they were all so kind, reassuring and patient with me. After the surgery they took me to a room to rest in a big comfy chair. They asked if I wanted my parents to come back and I said yes. We sat in the room for a bit to rest before they released me. After the surgery they instruct you to go home and rest for 4 hours and try to keep your eyes closed as much as possible. It doesn't hurt just feels a bit scratchy and some discomfort when eyes are open, but when eyes are closed it is very minimal feeling at all. They have you wear a clear eye shield also during the first week while sleeping to protect your eyes from rubbing. After waking up from my nap I was so happy. For the first time since elementary school I could see with no contacts or glasses. My eye sight was not perfect the first day or two as I am healing, but when I went for a check the next day he reassured me that everything was great for day 1. I go back for a check again 1 week after surgery. I am so incredibly happy with the surgery and couldn't have asked for a better experience from such kind and knowledgeable Dr. And staff members. I went to Dr. Winthrop for Laser Eye Surgery and it was amazing!! I'm less than 20 years old, but I had already been wearing glasses/contacts for about 11 years. I never thought it was possible, but after getting the surgery I now have 20/20 vision. It is literally a MIRACLE!! Every day I wake up and I am still in shock. Before I couldn't read a book unless it was a few inches from my face. My vision was terrible, but now I can see even better than I could with contacts!! Everything is so clear and I don't have to deal with dry eyes anymore or worry about falling asleep with contacts on. The surgery was so quick and practically painless! I was able to see from the minute I walked out of the office to go home!!! They walk you through each step as they are performing the surgery and tell you exactly what they are doing at each moment and what you will be experiencing as it happens. There was no surprises and the doctors were all very nice. They were very comforting and answered any and all questions that I had. Dr. Winthrop even called me the day of the surgery to check up on me and see how I was doing after everything. What a great choice for Lasik. Dr. Winthrop and his staff are excellent from the initial evaluation through the follow-up visits. The initial evaluation with Jeff was informative and pleasant, and he responded to phone calls when I had more questions before making a final decision. Dr. Winthrop reviewed my expectations for the procedure, and gave me confidence in him and the equipment he uses to achieve an excellent result. The procedure itself, as short as it is, was thoroughly explained so that during the procedure, nothing that happened was unexpected. The support staff for the procedure were attentive and reassuring. The follow-up visit the day after the procedure revealed 20/20 vision, and removed my DMV glasses requirement. My vision continued to improve in the week after, with occasional dryness relieved with drops, and minimal halos. The freedom from glasses and contacts to enjoy outdoor activities is terrific. I wore glasses all the time before the procedure, and now only need a small correction for close work and reading - but I had that before - so it is not an adjustment. Don't let other Eye Doctors tell you your not eligible for Lasik Eye Surgery until you speak to Dr Winthrop. I am 60 and had to wear tri-focal glasses for years because some doctor had said that to me. Glasses are expensive but now with new Lasik Technology the procedure is painless, takes only a few minutes per eye and with a rest period of about 20-30 minutes after surgery your going home. I spent probably less than 35 minutes in his office. The first thing you will notice is the Green, Red and Blue lights from the laser, first they appear a bit blurry like your vision may be, afterwards the lights are very clear. I am on my 4th day after surgery; I sometimes forget my glasses and just go about my business. The TV is Clear, the signs on the FWY are clear and most of all I can see my watch! As long as you do what he instructed this procedure will be successful. I have started to notice something I was told not possible, the floaters are gone, time will tell if this remains true. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Stuart and the whole team at his office! I have been wearing glasses/contacts since 3rd grade, and would not be able to see clearly past 6 inches in front of my face without them. Needless to say, my eyes were TERRIBLE. What impressed me the most about Dr. Stuart and his team was the care that I felt throughout the entire process - booking my appointment, final measurements, explanations of how the procedure would go - Claudia, Jeff, Dr. Stuart - they are all WONDERFUL. The best lasik surgeon ever! I highly recommend Dr.Winthrop I had lasik eye surgery may 26th and now it's June 1st it's been about a week since I had the procedure I had my 1 week appt today and I have 20/20 in both eyes my vision I believe was -4.00 in both eyes I'm pretty sure my vision is actually better then 20/20 cause when I got tested for the 20/20 vision line I was able to see it perfectly that I'm pretty sure I could have read a line below 20/20 which could mean that I've got 20/15 so that's better then 20/20 which is amazing the day of the procedure dr.wintrhop gives u call on his cell later that evening to check up on you and the whole procedure was honestly painless and there's not much to worry about because there staff is so professional! If you are planning on getting lasik go with dr.winthrop I promise you will not be disappointed and the procedure is about 5-10 mins it's super fast and even after I was done I wasn't sensitive to light or had any pain at all no burning sensation nothing at all even though on the papers that they give you about what to expect after the surgery none of those symptoms happened to me I'm 110% Satisfied with the results and I couldn't be any happier! read more

Dr. Winthrop was my second opinion for LASIK. I was pretty set on another provider but after doing more research on the most up to date equipment, Dr. Winthrop was the only one in town with it. From my first consultation to my first post-op visit, the staff at Dr. Winthrop' office has been wonderful. Jeff, the technician and LASIK manager, answered all of my questions and made me feel quite at ease about choosing LASIK. I had Lasik eye surgery done just 4 days ago and am already seeing better than I ever have (a clarity I never experienced with glasses or contacts). Awesome experience. Staff explained to me all the procedures ahead of time and Winthrop himself was very caring and supportive. It was also nice to be able to chat with Jeff, the technician, who has a great sense of humor and was very informative. It is a year after my Lasik procedure with Dr. Winthrop and his amazing team. The process was so simple and stress-free for me. The free consultation helped cement my desire to get lasik, then the process went very fast. I had a couple of pre-surgery appointments, then wore my glasses a week before the procedure (as opposed to my usual contacts), then had the procedure, which took about 5-10 minutes. I was told exactly what to expect and the procedure went very well. I only needed some minutes to recover and then help to get home (no driving!). After about a day or two, my vision was 20/20!! As an avid traveler and athlete, I was tired of losing my glasses, dropping them in the ocean while kayaking, losing them at a random hotel in France, etc. After a good friend got Lasik and recommended Stuart Winthrop, I decided to finally go for it. I couldn't be happier with the result. I can see the leaves on the trees now! I was a little scared going in, but everyone made me feel super comfortable during the whole process. With COVID happening they are extra careful with sanitation, mask-wearing, and taking people's temperature when we first walk in. The staff was very friendly and kind during the whole process. Unbelievable experience, one of the best doctors in town. I saw Dr Winthrop to get third opinion for cataract surgery. Two other surgeons from the area suggested to do a surgery on both eyes as soon as possible. After thorough exam by Dr Winthrop himself, he suggested to come back in two (2) years for re-evaluation. He found only 3% and 3% deterioration (cataract) on each eye, not needing surgery at the given time. He assure to me, that if I insist, he will be glad to take my money - I did not insist ;) He gave me the best news I have had for the past three months, running from eye specialist to eye specialist, having a doubt that I really needed a surgery. After alot of research and asking around everyone said "go to Winthrop" well I'm glad I did. I went in for a consultation and 8 days later was getting lasik. The consultation was quick and informative. After meeting with Dr. Winthrop I could tell he was the guy for the job! Even if you can't get the procedure I highly recommend you choose him to be your optometrist. They made me feel very comfortable the day of lasik and they talk you all the way through it with ease. The staff and Dr. Winthrop thoroughly discussed all of my concerns with me from the beginning, and were realistic about risks and side effects; very impressive.
