My friend is an artist who had painted a stunning picture of his wife in a field of red flowers and another of a guardian angel for her when she was ill. Brenda took those two images and created an unique and beautiful tribute unlike anything I've ever seen -- 36 roses in a vase with a pair of wings. My friend was truly touched by the arrangement as well as the symbolism behind it. I cannot thank Brenda enough for her dedication and care for this job. The price was right, and she went above and beyond to get just the proper accessories for the flowers.

The design wove vertical, horizontal, and center table floral displays with candles of equally varied dimension. Many florists will produce a pretty floral arrangement, but memorable... eye-catching? For that I would recruit Brenda Christie. Although Home and Earth is worth a visit in itself, as testament to the event experience, I returned to the shop the following day just to have more opportunity to enjoy the ephemeral installation! A recent visit to Woodbury's Bouquets & Beyond provided opportunity for me to see a summer collection of stems awaiting use by talented, award-winning florist and business owner, Brenda Christie. The case is filled with vibrantly colored blooms, including those that popularly appear in local summer gardens, such as hydrangea, lady's mantle, and sea holly, as well as tropicals that are not commonly found in other Litchfield County florist shops. The diversity of the collection reflects the bold creativity of Brenda Christie, through whom a unique and opulent bouquet is guaranteed. While the shop is positioned in a new business plaza in the southeastern corner of Litchfield County, Christie's floral designs have been installed in event spaces, business offices, and homes across the state. Glad to say that the site led me to a business I could trust and which yielded good results. So... some context: someone I used to know lost someone very close to them very suddenly. Wanting to show care and compassion, I looked up local florists, surveyed their reviews and inventory and made a short list of businesses that could get the job done in a respectful and meaningful way. The team at Sweet Pea's was receptive, helpful and fast. They put together a condolence basket that the recipient could share with family and show that all involved were thought of. I tipped for faster service and that tip was well-spent. The turnaround was lightning fast and the actual basket was something of value. One quote about it that I remember was that the basket was 'shockingly heavy' and filled with items the recipient could use. Here's the twist: said recipient would turn around and stab me in the back so horribly it took quite a while to recover. You would think such an association would cause me to give Sweet Pea's a bad review. Nope. Sending condolences is always the right thing to do even if the recipient is unkind and untrustworthy. Sweet Pea's provided a well-received and well-valued service in a very quick window and I'm appreciative of that... even given the circumstances of how things turned out.

It brightened up Rita's whole room the moment it arrived. The coordinating "Happy Birthday" card was so sweet and thoughtful, and she hasn't stopped talking about how pretty everything is. I purchased the beautiful birthday card, and the square on the card has seeds to be planted, and you soak it in water overnight, and place in a planter, cover with 1/8 inch of dirt, and it grows more flowers! I thought this was extra special so Rita can keep flowers blooming after the floral arrangement is long gone. From ordering to delivery, everything was smooth and right on time. It's clear they put real care into their work and into making their customers (and recipients!) feel special. I highly recommend Southbury Country Florist and I will definitely order from them again. This is also my pick-up location for my CSA, and the summertime is great - both my weekly basket, and other fresh local seasonal vegetables available (I sometimes run in two or three times a week to pick up something - the quality is far above the vegetables at the local grocer). They also have a freezer of locally produced meats. I've also ordered flowers for delivery, both local and through FTD, and I've never been disappointed. They carry local honey (and they'll get me 5-lb jars), and local maple syrup, both produced by the Woodbury Sugar Shack. They also have a large selection of giftware and home decorations. This is a fantastic place to find unique ornaments at Christmas time (I've found a couple that have become family heirlooms!). The service is excellent, and the entire staff is welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this business for your floral and farm product needs.
