    Pork ribs
    Stuart S.

Not too shabby, this places takes after the famous Stubbs who's the pit boss in the olden days. Famous to the bbq sauces they sell all across the country. The BBQ wasn't too bad. I ordered the chicken wings and three pork ribs. Suffice to say that the wings were cooked too far in advance that the wings were shrunken and lost a lot of the flavor. The buffalo sauce was ok not medium to my Buffalo native roots liking... the ribs were a significant upgrade. Enjoyed the meaty slabs nice and pink with a great smoke ring. It came with Cole slaw and onion rings. Again I think they made the rings too far in advance, it was cold and tough. Service was fair. Nothing to write home about I was t expecting anything on my first day back to Austin for a third leg of the business trip. My mind was elsewhere but this is what was memorable. One and done. Thanks Mr. Stubbs.

I had a lot of great BBQ while in Austin. Unfortunately, this wasn't included among it. Stubb's was a name I recognized because I actually like their BBQ sauce a lot, and buy it at home to adorn all sorts of meats I make myself. This spot was close to my hotel, and on my departure day, I decided to have one last hit of Q. It's a big restaurant, and it appears to also be quite the music venue. When I went, a little on the early side for a Friday dinner, there was not a wait and I was sat immediately. My server was attentive, and got me in, fed, and back out in plenty of time to catch my already delayed flight. I ordered their 3 meat combo plate, which also came with two sides, and added on a piece of cornbread. I chose brisket of course, as well as turkey and sausage. The server recommended the serrano pepper spinach (like a creamed spinach) and onion rings, and I took those recs. The best of the three meats was the turkey. Not a good sign. It was moist and tender, though not particularly smokey. Even so, I enjoyed it more than the brisket and sausage, which I would have guessed the reverse when ordering. The brisket was on the dry side and kind of bland, it did not smack of being freshly carved. The Stubbs BBQ sauce helped me eat some of it... now I see why they are famous for their sauce. I had a couple bites of the sausage and pushed it aside, I didn't enjoy their recipe on that at all. It was cooked seemingly well, but the blend of spices and meat they use wasn't pleasant to me. The sides, the onion rings were very crispy which I like, but again... something in the batter. Maybe even the oil they were cooked in, I did not enjoy as much. The spinach was actually quite enjoyable, maybe even a little rich. I think if it were warmer, if might help milden out some of that. It was really thick. The cornbread wasn't worth the add-on. No sweetness or anything to make it memorable. Vessel for butter. The portion was massive, and I had leftover food, but did not take it... and that would have been the case even if I wasn't headed to the airport. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

If you're looking for some Austin BBQ without all the waits of other spots, Stubb's is a solid option Downtown. My friend and I went on a Friday during peak dinner hours and didn't have to wait for a table. Unlike other places, this is a full table service spot. They also have tons of great event spaces - the amphitheater area looked very cool. Our server was so friendly and food all came out very quickly at Stubb's. We had seen Stubb's BBQ sauce in stores prior so were excited to try their eats, and found them to be decent. I was surprised they just had 1 BBQ Sauce offering knowing they have a line, and also it wasn't on every table but had to be asked for. While the flavor of the brisket and pork ribs were tasty, the brisket was too lean and way too dry. I just can't with dry barbeque! The Mac N Cheese was also decent, but not deliciously fantastic, same with the coleslaw. All the food we had was just A-OK without any standout items or bites. Cute place but I'm not running back for the eats.

Stubb's in Austin was so good! The food was delicious, the service was amazing, and the portions were generous enough to leave you full and satisfied. Definitely a great spot for a hearty, flavorful meal.

It was a weekend during the 'free music' week in January so was PACKED! I mean packed! Only seating available was outside but they did have heaters on. Still chilly, but it's January, so what do you expect. Staff were friendly. Attentive. Order came quickly..... however...... it was already cold. I know we were outside, but we went to eat it straight away and it wasn't hot for my liking. Food. Chicken wings were tasty. Not a fan of the pulled pork as too dry for me. Ribs were good. Sausage was okay. Mac n cheese was too cold to get a yummy bite. Coleslaw, okay. Not mind blowing food but not awful. Good music was playing, however as mentioned too packed for my liking. Upstairs and downstairs were shoulder to shoulder, so we left after eating. Maybe would have had a better experience if wasn't crazy busy?!?

Ate myself into a food coma ‍ Parking was readily available, I was easily able to get street parking despite it being a busy lunch hour. Staff was friendly, swift with service, and frequently checked in on me. Food was spectacular! I had Brisket with a side of onions & pickles, Fries and Banana Pudding for desert. Big portion, big happy The restaurant was huge, and you can really feel the culture and theme of Texas everywhere you go. 2 floors that I explored, and it looks like they have space for live music which I didn't experience but I hope that I do eventually. This spot is a home run, and I would highly recommend!!

A really great outdoor venue for SXSW. Have eaten here before and I think their bbq is the best in town. This time was outside for a concert for SXSW. Nice large area. Nice big trees of there in the summer. Had a wonderful breeze. Bar service was efficient and very friendly service.

Stubbs isn't the flashy other bbq spots, but it's reliable and has a variety of sides that will feel like home. We had the fried okra, potato salad, coleslaw, and creamed spinach. All of them were yummy and our sandwiches were typical bbq fare. Open a variety of hours Stubbs will be there for you, when you're craving , as other spots are insanely busy or have lines and run out.

This location is right in the heart of Austin and about 2 blocks from the hotel we were staying in. We tried the brisket, ribs, chicken, turkey, sausage, potato salad, mac and cheese, fried okra and creamed spinach. My favorites were the ribs, chicken (best smoked chicken I've ever had) and fried okra while my wife liked the ribs, sausage and creamed spinach. Synopsis... Get the ribs and chicken!!! We both thought the brisket was a little dry and lacked that peppery bark but overall some good BBQ for a fair price.

A must when in Austin ATX. I was within walking distance, it was 8 o'clock at night & I figured what the heck. I was promptly seated & quickly served. They close at 9pm, but I had plenty of time to enjoy my meal. I opted for an Angus Brisket Sandwich & it was packed full of meat. At each table is a bottle of Stubbs BBQ sauce. Needed for all this meat to go down. My two sides were creamed Spinach & their homemade potato salad. Tasty. I also added a mini loaf of their cornbread. I was so full that I didn't get a chance to eat it. It's a ToGo box for me to my hotel. Ambiance. Very rustic with cool posters on the wall with all their musical guests who have graced their musical talents upon the establishment. Thievery Corporation (right on). It's very hot in Herr but my waiter gave me this huge 32oz cup of ice water. This is in a great location. Three blocks away from Moody Amphitheater. I love Austin, it's just so dang hot & humid here. Bring a personal fan, ice packs & thin clothing. Until my next Yelp Travels

A fun atmosphere with some great beers on tap, generous portions, and tasty food. They are busy so you may want to get there early and plan accordingly but it was a fun and vibrant spot and worth the hype and the experience of it - especially for out of towners.

Good BBQ here...usually. This time , I ordered the same plate as usual, the smoked turkey with smoked brisket. I've never had such a fatty serving of brisket. It wasn't trimmed at all. My advise: stick with the turkey. If had a good smoke and was tender. There are numerous sides to choose from.

Attended an event that was hosted at Stubb's and had an amazing time!!! We had brisket, ribs, sausages, chicken and salmon for protein. Sides included potato salad, green beans, slaw, and biscuits; pecan pie for dessert. Honestly came into the event with somewhat low expectations for food, but was definitely blown away! The ribs were the highlight for me -- fall off the bone tender! Brisket in my opinion was average (wouldn't go back for seconds), and chicken was just in between. Potato salad was also solid. The actual event space was great, supers spacious, lots of good seating available and the two bars outside had fast service too. Overall the vibe here was fabulous and would definitely look forward to events here in the future!

Brisket Taco ($9): The brisket was a bit dry but the slice was pretty thick and it paired well with the acidity of the pickles. Carne G Taco ($6): Super cheesy and heavy. When I tell you these ribs were a religious experience I am not embellishing. Full disclosure: I do not currently live in the south so I don't consider myself a BBQ connoisseur, but I did spend 4 years in the south and have sampled many BBQ joints in the meantime. Take this review as someone who really enjoys BBQ (and any slow cooked meat for that matter) but who could not list more than 10 BBQ restaurants they have eaten at in the last 5 years. So the beef ribs. Great texture, tender meat but still had a bite to it. Expertly seasoned so they were not wet with sauce but still moist. I would consider 1 beef rib a snack, 2 a small meal. I also tried the chopped brisket (brisket and burnt ends sitting in a soup of BBQ sauce). That was also delicious (and more reasonably priced), but I could have done with slightly less sauce. It really was like a soup and while the sauce was tasty, there was too much of it. I went later in the afternoon (around 2/2:30pm) and got their last two beef ribs so going earlier is better. For fifteen people, the total cost was $425.69. This included delivery costs and taxes, but no tip. It consisted of three meats, two sides, and a dessert along with pickles, onions, bread, and BBQ sauce. There was also a set of utensils delivered, but plates were forgotten, but not a big deal. Brisket - This was definitely the best item eaten of the day. It was tender and juicy while adding the BBQ sauce giving that extra bite. The BBQ sauce was great regardless, a little bit of sweet and smoky flavor going on. Pulled Pork - This was another solid meat choice. I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.

Being Canadian, I had to stop by Banger's to try their poutine. It's not traditional poutine, but…read moreit still hit the spot, and I'm happy to have found a place in Austin that serves it. Our server was extremely attentive and patient especially as my table was trickling in little by little. He came with great recs about the beer we should choose. I got the Burro's Breakfast and it was so yum fit my preference of Beer to a T. As a table we got the poutine so yum the cheese just cooled down to quickly so by the end when the melted cheese hardened we weren't able to continue eating it :( but it was yummy! I tried the Duck Bacon Fig Sausage and when I first saw it on the menu I thought that the combination was crazy.. so rightfully so I ordered it. One bite in and it did not disappoint! The combination of the smokey bacon, with the sweetness of the fig, and the savory toughness of the duck all complimented each other so well! I'm usually one to have a sweet treat after having a savory entree, but this sausage was so in between the two that it satisfied my palate. I went on a Saturday afternoon thing 2:30 and the vibe was chill people talking and eating. The live band hadn't started but they were setting up as we were leaving!
