We are "all about" All About Dance!…read more They have tap/jazz and ballet classes taught by two loving, dedicated co-owners who used to be instructors at Chatham University before their program was closed. The studio is small--both in terms of actual space and number of dancers--so there is lots of personal attention. The owners teach ever course, and they know every child. My 3-year-old is just as important as their senior competition team members. My daughter is likely not destined to be a ballerina or a professional dancer, but she's having the time of her life in these classes and learning alot too! We particularly like the 4/5-year old tap/ballet combo class. In 40 minutes, the kids do 20 minutes of ballet with one owner, change shoes, and then do 20 minutes of tap with the other owner. By the end of that, my daughter is blissfully happy and tired. She and her friend sing and laugh the entire car ride home and then pass out promptly after dinner. Don't let the location stop you: it's not far at all. The studio is located on the south of the 376 bridge across from Regent Square. Traffic on Braddock/Forbes can be a small issue coming from Squirrel Hill or Oakland around 5pm in the fall/spring, but it usually only takes 10-12 minutes.

Have you ever gone down a rabbit hole of dance videos online, and you want to move like that? Well, FireWall definitely can give you that moment with choreography, movement, and video. A friend and I attended a special Sip & Sexy 2-hour event, and we were floored by how fun it was. For the first time, I felt sexy when dancing, and the people at FireWall are truly a hype squad. I'm sold, and I've purchased a class pass to return to more classes (and I have!). Parking can be spicy, but if you're there after 6 pm, street parking becomes free. If you want free parking, you'll need to park up near Josephine Street, and that's a few blocks away.

Staff was approachable and seemed like regular people - perhaps an odd comment - but it felt like a safe environment, free of judgement. The building is situated in South Side and was truly the perfect location, easy to get to and the right size for our group. The workout was great, definitely some underutilized muscles! It's opera overload for a few weeks a year with amazing performers from all over the country. If you have never been to an opera, seriously go. At least once. Tickets are super affordable, the theater is small, and they do stuff in English, so it's not throwing you into an $80 a ticket, Italian epic that's 3.5 hours long. Which, don't get me wrong, I love all of that (except the expense!) But PFO is really non threatening and accessible. I had the pleasure of seeing La Boheme Warhola last night. All I kind of knew was it was an adaptation of la boheme with a 60s Warhol ish feel and that it was in English. They still did supertitles over the stage even though it was in English, which was great. And the actors were amazing. So talented and engaging and irreverent and just excellent. I absolutely loved it. Icing on the cake? Free street parking! Their 2018 season is almost over so seriously get on their mailing list so you'll get the announcements for the 2019 season.
