I was lucky to attend Studio 1024 for free for the first time. I like to check out a place before paying any money because it can sometimes be tricky. I really liked my instructor in the first class; the energy and the way she led the group were different, combining rhythmic movement with melodic voice commands. I paid for two weeks during which I met other coaches - all of them were great! What I appreciate about this place is that there was never the same set of exercises; every day brought something new. However, I am still deciding whether to return because I also want to do yoga, and their prices are quite high. They offer payment for 10 classes, whereas many places have a price for an unlimited month instead. All in all, it's a good place to incorporate into your daily physical routine without getting overtired. read more

Studio 1024 provides incredible workouts led by kind and supportive instructors! I'm a former marathon runner but my second pregnancy, C-section, and recovery were all very physically taxing and I was nervous to start working out again. My first post-baby workout was mat pilates with Cecille, and it was the perfect way to strengthen my new body. Since then, I've tried their cardio classes with Shelley (the wonderful owner) and power classes with Denniz and Jen, and they're all excellent. The workouts are challenging (I almost always need to take a break because the sets are hard!) yet so physically and mentally rewarding. Everyone who takes classes at Studio 1024 is really nice, and I feel like it's a judgment free zone to work up a sweat. Plus, the team at Studio 1024 is so kind--they provide cold towels after cardio classes and they clean up the mats for you after class! read more

The Dailey Method in Burlingame is a wonderful studio! The instructors are top notch, the facility is super clean, and it has that special community feeling. :-) Everyone is really welcoming and kind, creating a great vibe for existing and new clients, Dailey Method members and ClassPassers alike! I have known Shelley for several years, and the studio is in such amazing hands. She is always looking for new ways to improve. For example, they very recently installed brand-new cork flooring that is clean, sleek, and an awesome upgrade. All of the props are well-maintained or new and complement the class routines perfectly. I have taken barre, Pilates, yoga, and a variety of other studio classes over the years. The Dailey Method is a wonderful combination of several disciplines, and often includes an infusion of cardio too! I thoroughly enjoy the variety of the classes too - some are more barre-focused and others center on heart-pounding cardio and/or strengthening/toning work. There is something for everyone and great variety to get a well-rounded, comprehensive workout by coming in 3-4 times a week. There is plenty of street parking right next to the studio - such a great way to ease into class instead of fighting for parking. I just love coming to The Dailey Method in Burlingame! I have tried countless barre, yoga and strength-training focused classes throughout the Peninsula and Shelley's studio is above and beyond the best! A little background about myself: I hate working out. Even walking far distances is a pain my a*s! I was hesitant to try a class by myself, so luckily a friend agreed to sign up with me. After the first class, I fell in love! The instructor Sarah was very sweet and approachable, and though she correct my form and posture many times throughout the class..she did so in a way I didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable. I went about 7 times in the span of a month, though I was aiming for more. I purchased the Groupon for an unlimited month. The owner recommends 3x a week to see results. I was only able to make it 2x max a week. The first few times I was super sore, but then the soreness went away the last two weeks. BUT the class was still hard! My legs/core/arms would be shaking during the classes, but it made it worth it and I felt like I was actually working out. It's not super intense where you'll sweat and do lots of cardio, it's more so tiny refined movements geared toward building strength, flexibility, and toning. I would recommend this just to try it out if you're like me and hate any type of physical movement! This class even helped me get back into a work out routine even though the class has ended.. The only thing stopping me from coming back is the hefty monthly price for unlimited classes =/ read more

Got a Groupon for unlimited classes for a month and boy oh boy, am I gonna be so ready for a spring break body! Well not so sure about that, but it feels like I might be!! Muscles I didn't realize I had were working overtime and though it's not exhausting cardio as some might like, I definitely love how it works so many muscle groups at one time while truly focusing on core work. I may not have that ballerina stance or graceful boat pose, but at least I know I'm in the perfect place to get there! Instructor Shelly was awesome, quick and helpful to help with form and alignment rather than just talking through the whole thing, was great! I love this studio! Laurie and her team do a great job at keeping the studio clean, getting to know the clients and keeping them on their toes! I know a lot of folks getting into these types of classes will hop from The Bar Method in San Mateo to The Dailey Method, and switch off depending on coupons/deals, but I really liked this studio and decided not to venture off if I was happy here. My favorite instructors are: Laurie - the owner, she definitely keeps everyone on beat in the class, adjusts your posture to better challenge you or make sure you don't hurt yourself and gets to know her students very well. What I really appreciate is Laurie's outreach. It's also really rare that someone pronounces my name right (even my Yelp profile has pronunciation directions) and I really appreciate that she says my name correctly (same goes for the other instructors) Susannah - I feel like her directions are very clear in class so you're not looking around at what everyone else is doing and I'm really used to her voice because I went to so many of her classes Amanda - keeps the class energized and has great musical choices. I always associate her with Florence and the Machine! May - I feel like when she says "challenge yourself" I really want to listen to her and I go ahead and kick up the position up a notch haha. She was also the first instructor I had here so it's nice to find out when she's teaching one of the classes I'm attending. I moved to Vegas and have been in between the Bay Area and Vegas on and off since November now. This is when I discovered this wonderful Burlingame studio. I really wish I had given them a chance a lot sooner. I tried out their one month pass for newbies and was definitely hooked. It was a bit bitter sweet because I knew my work and travel schedule would start affecting my workouts. I bought another one month pass and unfortunately got sick during the last week and I haven't been back since. I just bought their New Year's package of 10 classes so I can use them when I'm in town sporadically. I really hope the Vegas studios that offer these types of classes are just as good since the Dailey Method set the "bar" very high for me (bad joke). read more

What a great workout! I just tried Pure Barre and hated it so thought I would try Dailey Method next. I loved it so much I signed up for the month - they have a great deal $99 for unlimited classes for the first 30 days. Also, they have daycare which is amazing! The instructors were friendly and came over often to correct me. What I loved most is that they went through the process of explaining the moves and discussing why it was important.. I started coming here last month through ClassPass. Their Dailey Basics class was actually my very first barre class ever and I'm glad I took that because I've been to other "beginner" barre classes and I'm sure I would've been way lost if I hadn't gone here first! Since then I've also gone on a Tuesday and a Thursday night (7pm) and enjoyed both of them. I had the same instructor so it worked out since by the Thursday night, she was well aware of how new I was so she helped me with my form even more, along with providing the necessary but motivating comments (IE i"t's not going to get any easier if you keep making faces like that"). I like that the classes are usually pretty full but never felt too crowded. There's windows so there's natural light that comes through, so it doesn't feel like a box, but the windows are frosted so people won't be peeking through from the outside. On a personal note, I love how it's convenient to me being in Burlingame so I'll probably max out my ClassPass classes here every month. read more

I think this workout is absolute torture. My legs shake. My belly shakes. My abs feel like they are on fire. But through all that "up and inch, down an inch" routine, I've come to really like this workout. So far, the instructors have been great and really helpful to the new girl (yeah, that's me on the verge of tears in the back row). Thanks Erin and Natalie! Each time I've gone, the workout has been different so I'm not bored. I am completely addicted to the Dailey Method. Usually after working out, I'm tired and a little cranky but I always walk out of the Dailey Method classes smiling. They have the perfect combination of stretching with strength training that my body absolutely loves. For the first time in my life, I can actually feel my ab muscles. Its amazing. The teachers are all really nice and very encouraging while pushing you for the entire hour. The facilities are really nice. They even have lockers that you don't have to remember to bring a lock! They have a great deal for new customers. For $100 you get unlimited classes for a month. I was there four days a week and pretty much in pain for an entire month. It was so worth it. My only disappointment at the end of the month was that I couldn't keep going as often. read more

I started using Classpass this year and decided to give barre a try....3.5 months later and I love it! The facility is clean and well-kept. I never actually feel like I need to lock my locker. When it comes to picking studios, I'm a little picky and part of that is due to the bar (pun intended) Dailey Method had set. Yes, the classes will kick your butt (especially in the beginning), but I also feel somewhat relaxed and at ease in the studio. Everyone (students and instructors) is friendly. I've had a bunch of different instructors and can say that my favorite ones play the best music along a kick-ass whole body workout. Recommend you come early to get a good spot! I bought a Living Social deal a few months back -- four drop in classes for $40. I went to all four, and boy, each and every class kicked my *#$!*%!!! Really love the experience -- during the class, you are motivated and challenged because the instructors are really good, and after the class, you can feel those sore muscles! I have died and gone to heaven!!! seriously. Ok so it's an hour of pure suffering, no joke - there are times you think you're gonna die from the burn, especially during thigh work, but it's the greatest feeling in the world when you're all done. I have never had a more fulfilling workout in my life. I've been exposed to pretty much everything, all those fancy shmancy classes at the Equinox etc. etc, but nothing compares to the Dailey Method. I am hooked. The instructors are extremely nice, professional, and will not hesitate in correcting your form. I've had classes with many of the different teachers and all of them know what they're doing. The music is awesome, giving a full spectrum of different beats. The class is a full 60 minutes and flies by like no other. When class is over I am drenched in my own sweat...you feel the effects of the class immediately. Every muscle is worked and worked HARD! you feel super toned and leave feeling like you've accomplished something from your workout. I love the Dailey Method- Burlingame, everyone is super friendly and nice. The facility is clean and cozy. I started with the Anniversary 10 class package, which I used up very quickly. I now have the unlimited monthly package, as I go five times a week. The classes somehow always seem new, never boring. I leave each class feeling happy, centered, and full of positive energy. They offer different classes to suit your preferences. My favorite class here is Dailey Express (45 min Barre). Dailey Method is amazing! It is so much better than going to the gym. The workouts are hard, but doable. It really focuses on toning your body. The first teacher I had was really nice. She made me comfortable and was really helpful. Before the class began, I told her that I had scoliosis so she made sure that i was doing the movements correctly. I like that the classes are small, so it allows for the teacher to focus on all of us. I also like the online reservation system, so that you can pay and schedule your classes online. It does get a bit pricey, so hopefully they put more deals out. read more

Before I even attended my first class I was a little hesitant to join any fitness class because I hadn't been to the gym or worked out in years, but my doctors told me it was time to make a lifestyle change, so I was going to suck it up and do something. I found the Dailey Method through a groupon, tried it and fell in love with the class and signed up for a month worth of classes that same day. I felt really comfortable in my first class, the structure of the class makes it very easy to follow along, especially as a beginner, and as you become a regular client, you and your instructor will find ways to make each and every workout challenging. The Dailey Method class is a combination of bar work, yoga, pilates, and stretching. I have been attending the Dailey Method about 5 times a week for the last 4 months. I have lost a couple of pounds, but more importantly my workouts at the Dailey Method give me energy, helps clear my head, and acts as a de-stresser. I feel really good after this challenging workout. The Dailey Method offers classes throughout the day so that you can't use the excuse you "dont have time", they also offer childcare at many of their classes. As far as the instructors go, they are all great. I really appreciate how they always acknowledge and encourage each individuals progression. Although I do not have a favorite instructor, because I really do like them all, you should take the opportunity to take a class from Jill, the founder of the Dailey Method, she is an incredible teacher. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. The other clients that I take classes with are really friendly and always welcome a new face in class. Pricing is competitive. Parking is easy. After my second pregnancy (with twins!), I felt I could not lose the weight i had put on. I have always been in great shape but after 7 months of bed rest I needed serious toning. I took my first class two years ago and have become addicted. The results are amazing ! I have lost a lot of belly fat that I thought was impossible and actually have a flat tummy! So I have been taking class at The Dailey Method, Burlingame since 7/1/09 and I have fallen in love with it. I try to go every day and yes, it is a workout that I have no comparison to. The class is a mix of ballet, pilates, yoga, and streching. I guarantee your muscles will be twitching when you finish the class. You are probably wondering, it all sounds negative, how could I love it so?? Well, the results are amazing. Not only does the type of workout train your body to align itself correctly, the workout is like a chisel and if you take the class as often as you can, you can transform your body to be long and lean. If you don't believe me, take the class...you won't regret it. The instructors here are good and pretty attentive without being overbearing on the new kid. I'd never been to classes like this before and had questions about form or different ways to strengthen muscles outside of class. The classes are not very crowded so you don't ever feel like you are right next to the person next to you. I signed up for the unlimited new client special for $100 which is a great deal since classes are $20/visit. To have gotten my money's worth and a really good handle on the class I probably should have gone 3-4 times a week. I really enjoyed the mix of the workout - combo pilates/strength training/yoga/bar work/stretching. Brought me back to dance classes in high school - oh to be that lean and flexible again. It would be cool if they actually offered a variety of classes where some focused more on bar work and others strictly on core - but I guess that's not what they are about. Time flies in the class and you leave feeling accomplished and slightly beat up since the focus is really on a lot of muscles you normally don't think about. I'm using a Groupon deal for one month of unlimited classes, and I hope to make it 2-3 times a week. I'm a young mom of 2 little boys and the last time I had an intentional work out was Feb 2013, so obviously I have to start with the "Basics" class. I knew I was out of shape, but holy crap my legs were shaking and I'm glad I grabbed one of the hand towels to pat my face dry at times. The place is clean, bright, and airy. (Something I would expect for Burlingame.) The instructor I had this morning (Shelly?) was friendly and not overbearing in trying to correct my poses. I think she knew there were a handful of newbies in there, so I was glad that she helped point out improvements without being mean about it. Normally the Basics class isn't too full according to one of the staff, but I think the Groupon will change that temporarily. The lady at the desk who helped register me was helpful with giving me info on how everything worked and gave me a mini tour. She said she does a weekly shift manning the front desk in exchange for classes since the monthly fee can be steep. (They have pay-per-class with the ability to pay for chunks of classes at once to make it a little cheaper, and they also have unlimited classes for the die-hard fans... price list is on their website or posted on the wall.) If they ever have an opening for this kind of work/exercise situation, I'd be interested in participating! read more

This class is definitely a workout. You may not think so at first but I promise you will be sweating by the end of class and sore the next day. Not only sore, but shakey muscle kind of sore, which is the best kind. I never knew I could be sore in muscles I never knew I had. Haha. I really had a GREAT EXPERIENCE. Even after 1 class, I felt stretched out and light on my feet. My instructor was Misasha on Sunday 9:45am (though I know she teaches at other times as well). She was excellent!!! The music was great (hip hop mix) which always helps, her directions were clear, and she made sure we always held the right posture and pose. It's inspiring to be taught by her b/c her arms are just amazing. Which makes your super motivated to workout and want to come back. I would definitely go back again!! Two thumbs up! read more

I love the Dailey Method! When I started I went several times a week, and really saw my body start to change. It is really tough (sort of a love/hate thing with the actual work out), and the instructors are great! I did Bar Method prior, but started this because the location was better for me, and I think I have seen slightly better results with DM. I would actually give it 4 1/2 starts if I could, as I often go in the mornings, and it has been freezing in the winter! I also wish that it was a little more personalized - they are not great about returning calls, and there is no desk person in the morning. read more

ive been coming to the dailey method burlingame since june. so its been about three to four months. i have to admit i had very high expectations coming in. i thought i would look leaner and fitter right away. since ive always had a hate hate relationship with my body, i dont know if i dont see the changes or they arent really there. most would say the former that being said, coming to class and even the hours after are when i get some reprieve from all the body hate. my body feels stronger, more flexible, and the good workout quiets the critic inside my head. we work our muscles until they tire and then we stretch them out. every instructor has a slightly different style. they come by and perfect your form. i like how they praise the class as a whole and then help people individually when their poses are off. most classes i work up a sweat. and i think everyone goes at their own pace. i think i just sweat a lot. there is only one class per time slot and on wednesdays its either 4:30 or 6:30 while i usually prefer the 5:45 so i can come straight from work then straight home. i usually sign up online but thats not required. some classes can get crowded but not so much that someones foot is always in my face. they are also pretty flexible if you miss a class you signed up for. i like this location because there is plenty of parking except weeks when there is an event on the track or football field next door. the classes average $15 per class which is more than some other workouts out there. but i think its worth it. i got the dvd for $25 for when i cant make it to class or when i feel like working out on weekends. i usually go tues, wed, and thurs because thats what my schedule allows. these classes are all girls. the guys ive seen come in dont really return. and almost everyone wears lululemon. head to toe. socks are required. they have special grippy dailey method socks but i dont have a pair. there are people of all different shapes and sizes, all different ethnicities and ages. aside from the moments before class when everyone is staring into the mirror, there is no awkwardness with fitting in. i love this workout and will probably continue it. a lot of other workouts ive done, i dont do anymore - yoga, pilates, spinning, boxing, elliptical .... but i hope to continue dailey method read more

I have been meaning to do this, but it's such a bigger commitment to be the first reviewer- thanks Gwen! I have been coming to the Dailey Method since it opened in Burlingame, as it is super close to my house vs the Bar Method in San Mateo where I'd been going for 9 months prior. I THINK I like this better than Bar Method, but I want to go back to Bar to double check. In all honesty, there is not much to LIKE about either--- it's absolute torture-- but I seek sanctuary in the hope that I will one day have a rockin' bod because of my Method-ing. THINGS I REALLY LIKE: The Instructors are great and seem really normal, despite their perfect figures. Location is awesome for me Very manageable number of people in class, but I'm sure that will change A lot of variety in the exercises. I don't always know what's coming next, whereas Bar Method got to be very predictable. The flow of this is much less choppy. I prefer the music, most of the time I think this is a better arm and ab work out than Bar They are much less nazi- ish here, the studio has a little more of a yoga studio feel WHAT I'M NOT CRAZY ABOUT: While I love the more relaxed feel of the studio, it's also what I don't like. One day I walked in to class and a dog was in the studio-- it left before class, but I don't want to think there was a dog on the carpet I'm laying on. The teachers sometimes keep their dogs in one of the bathrooms too. Ok, clearly I'm not a dog person. Sue me; I realize I'm grossly outnumbered in CA, but this is an exercise studio, not a kennel. I'm not crazy about the ab work we do directly on the carpet vs the mats, but I'm sure the floor is clean I wish they would keep foam by the stall bar, as it makes your hands hurt a lot less I think it's great that they have child care, but one day something must have happened because a woman had her baby cooing/ crying in a car seat in the corner of the studio. I sincerely hope this was an isolated exception, because it was distracting to the instructor and to me. The woman finally took the baby out of class when it really got fussy. All in all, I love this place. I just think they have some details to work on, but it's only been a month so that's expected! read more

The Dailey Method is my favorite workout. I always leave class with twitching muscles, wobbly legs & sore arms. I LOVE it. Although each class typically has a different routine, the main gist consist of: - marching to warm up - arms work (very light weights, high repetition & high variation) - high c curve (abs) - thigh - seat (yes, ass) - round back (abs) - flat back (abs) - low c curve (abs) - tucking (abs + seat) - final stretching All this using mostly body weight with a few props for variation (rope, ball, mat) with brief stretching in between. Head to toe toning & strengthening in just 60 mins. It's also motivating that ALL the instructors are incredibly FIT. Laurie (owner) is my favorite instructor. She knows most people by name, which I think sets her apart from the other instructors (she's the only one that knows my name). Laurie doesn't allow anyone to half-ass their way through class. I always feel like I get the most of my money by going to her class. There are a couple of things that would be on my 'wish list': - a class that starts at 7am/7:30am on weekdays (1st one is either 6am or 6:30am & then the next one isn't until 8:40am - 6am is a little harsh & 8:40am is a bit too late to make it to work at a decent time). - an afternoon class on Saturdays (there's a 4pm on Sun, which is great). read more

Love, love, LOVE the Dailey Method. A group of us from my office have been taking the classes a few times a week and are addicted! There's no other work out like it, even the bar method doesn't quite compare. The classes themselves are hard work, you're in pain for about an hour but at the end, I always walk out of there super relaxed and zen. All the classes have a specific structure but no class is the same, every day is different and every instructor has their own style. The atmosphere in the studio is very supportive and welcoming. But the results, oh the results are the best part. I'm seeing more muscle definition than I ever achieved with traditional weight or circuit training, except with the DM there's almost no soreness the next day. I feel leaner and stronger and have already lost inches thanks to the Dailey Method. Highly recommend! read more

i have not been fit for quite a few years and to hit the ground running by enrolling in one of the most challenging classes is crazy! but, when i saw the gilt city coupon, i couldn't miss the opportunity to wake up my body and get real about my health. the instructors help make you feel so comfortable and help shift your body so you are truly feeling and benefitting from the exercise. i've been to 3 so far and constantly feel that wonderful soreness from a good workout between classes. i do plan on buying the dvd for at-home workouts and hope that i can continue to come in after my classes expire...they are $20/class which is well worth it, but not realistic for my budget. i'm sure i'll miss it, so maybe i'll make some adjustments :) read more

I heard about this studio through a good friend of mine. The front desk receptionist was very friendly, and gave me a little tour inside prior to class. It is very clean which I love since I'm OCD on cleanliness. I love how there are lockers provided and an area to hang your bags, and shoes, etc. I had Amanda as my instructor for my very first session that day. She is absolutely AH-MAZING! I love the music while working out hardcore, and the postures were very effective. She was helpful always correcting my form, and I truly appreciate that. It's nice too see that I'm getting my moneys worth in this class. Most of the time, instructors don't care. For a 60 min. Session it went by WAY TOO FAST for me, that's because it was really fun. My favorites was the ballet moves, holding on to the bar and doing squats will have your knees Trembling! It burns like hell but you feel good!!! I loved working out my upper arms too, and toning! Lots of floor workouts as well, I definitely had a good CORE workout! As a new client, I paid for the $45 3 session package. Also, as a first timer, it's a necessity to buy their Dailey Method Grip socks! *Must have* which was $10, but it's okay if you have grip socks of your own...also bring a water bottle with you, and everything else is already provided for you...I wish I could afford to pay for their monthly unlimited packages, but unfortunately, I will have to wait it out....I won't be back here although I really wish I could on a daily. As someone who recently gave birth, I was interested in finding another work out routine outside of the treadmill. I was turned to TDM by a friend and decided to go all in and do the new mom special. 1 week in and I love it! The classes give you a real workout and the teachers are fantastic. There's a real focus on proper positioning and already I feel my posture improving. While I'm starting on maternity leave, I can easily see TDM become a part of my year round regular work out routine. Just joined Dailey method and have taken 3 classes so far. The studio is very very clean. The classes are challenging but you feel fantastic afterwards. The best thing about the Dailey Method are the instructors. They are super attentive and very nice. You don't feel embarrassed if you find yourself struggling in class. When I went in to sign up, I was promptly shown around and asked if there were any concerns or questions I had about the classes. Would definitely recommend trying it out! read more
