I was visiting Grand Haven from NYC and decided to stop here for my monthly haircut since I knew I wouldn't be returning home to Manhattan for a few weeks. As I walked in Prince's song "Let's Go Crazy" started playing in my head. Well I took that & decided to roll with it. I drew Kaitlyn, and she started with the usual Qs a new stylist might have. I told her "Let's just ignore that. I've been getting the same haircut for 15-20 years. Take everything off the sides & we'll go from there." I just stepped out in faith and trusted her. The previous good reviews on this site appear to be mostly based on a staff that no longer works at the salon, as they've all moved on to other places (didn't learn this til after my appointment). I had the misfortune of getting my hair cut by the owner and left in tears. During the entire haircut she was barking orders and micro managing the young girl at front desk, even stepping away from my cut to grab the phone away from her and speak to someone on the phone. Ultimately she cut off significantly more hair than I had asked for...I came In with long hair, told her I still wanted long-ish hair to be at my shoulders and left with essentially a bob. I've been distraught about it for weeks. Would not recommend Valerie to anyone. read more

I've decided to write an update on this salon, as every stylist I get seems to leave rather quickly. The 2 stylists I became accustomed to both left within 6 months. I will not be returning unfortunately. read more

Went to Studio 206 today for the first time. Kaitlyn was very professional and I enjoyed talking and visiting with her. She hid my gray, added beautiful highlights and trimmed my hair. Very relaxing atmosphere. A very enjoyable experience with a talented and friendly salon. Found my new salon.P. S.I guess I do have a southern accent. Every where I go they call me the southern bell. I moved to Grand Haven fairly recently, and up til now, had had only one very unsatisfying haircut at another salon in town. I tried Studio 206 for my second cut and was blown away by their professionalism, expertise, confidence, and friendliness. The whole staff was really nice and welcoming, and Nancy, my stylist, was one of the best I've ever had - she was honest, realistic, and full of good ideas about what to do with my (lack of) style. after 13 loyal years I will never go to studio 206 again. Every appointment is at least 15 min or more late. Every time. I don't seem to get the same cut twice despite an explanation what I want. My hair is never styled like i do it (never flat ironed as it usually is). Left 3 messages for owner to call me after extremely late and rude behavior last weekend. No return call in 2 days. If yelp had negative stars....this place would take the cake! My sister goes in to this salon, they charge her one gazillion dollars (because ya know, they're so ritzy), and they totally mess her hair up!!! We're talking certifiable GREY HAIR! Then, she goes back to try to get it fixed....no one will even speak to her. She has me on speakerphone the whole time, and they very cattily tell her that they have other clients and she will have to wait....30 min later, she is not even allowed to voice her complaints to the owner/manager and leaves the salon in tears!!! Needless to say, she went to a reputable salon that fixed her right up. That'll teach her, but seriously, we'll never stop teasing her about the $500 hair cut/color! Just got my hair cut by Amanda and my daughter got her hair cut by Emily. This by far the best hair cut I've gotten in a long time.

I have gone to 206 and both times it has been a bad experience. My daughter had an apt at 3:00 to get her hair colored and haircut. I was told by my daughter to pick her up at 5:45 cause that was the time her hairstylist told her she would be done. Well lets just say the time kept getting later and later and finally at 8:00 i decided to go there cause she was so board by her self. When I got there she was still wet and her haircut was not even started and the lady left her all by herself to cut someone else's hair. At this point it had been 5 hours that she was there! I was furious!! Not to mention they bleached her hair and all i could see was brassy orange hair color. When I confronted them, all they could say was it can take this long to colored hair to process. My daughter then told me she had been left alone for alot of the evening. Unfortunately I was at a football game for my son and couldn't be there with her. I will never ever go back to this unprofessional place again!!! read more
