I really liked this salon! Lots of great products to look at and learn about, and the staff were all very nice. My stylist, Jamie, while relatively new to hair dressing but was confident and very knowledgeable about product and options.She listened to my vision of 'better hair' and then offered a several options to make it better now, and get me closer to what I was envisioning with the next colouring. She suggested a few foils on top (which were done perfectly I must say), and a lighter overall colour (which has never been suggested before) and I must say that I came out of the salon with hair that looked absolutely gorgeous! I also enjoyed the time I spent with the lovely Jamie, which is an important component of the hair experience! I highly recommend Urban Edge and Jamie! You won't be disappointed!

For me it wasn't worth the money. When I asked how much it would be after the cut they said they charge based on experience and "she thinks she's at $80 now." I could have gotten this hair cut at first choice. Maybe they're better with colour but for a simple cut I wouldn't go here. Although, they were nice enough.

The stylist started slowly brushing through my hair to see which way my hair fell (which should be the proper procedure). That is when the owner came by, wound up a timer and set it for about 20 minutes. She then promptly sat down, arms crossed and watched. Obviously, this got the stylist nervous and she quickly started cutting. And out popped my cowlicks like 'wack-a-moles! At the end of the cutting, hair product was liberally applied to control what was left of my hair. What a disaster!

I came away feeling Beautiful! I'm definitely going back! CONS: well, ok. There are steps involved if one is going in for a Colouring as that is done upstairs. Also, If you are looking for a really cheap hair salon - this isn't it: I had highlights put in to take away some of the white (I passed grey some time ago). I also booked this appointment online and I learned that it is okay to book any spot that is open but was advised to book ahead as they get quite busy. But the BEST part was, apparently they have a loyalty program and I ended up getting $12 off of the price! As if I needed a reason to go back to Chatters (both Nanaimo and Victoria have great hair dressers), now I'm definitely not getting my hair done anywhere else!

The owner Victoria, is attentive and listens to preferences while offering helpful suggestions. Hands down, this is the very best Salon in the Parksville area for men to get a 'barbershop' haircut. She has given me two great hair cuts now and I am looking forward to the next. She listens carefully to what you want and executes your needs well. The salon is larger than I expected. There are at least 4 stylists who are all very friendly and seem to equally great work. The boutique part is a small collection of clothing and accessories that are actually quite nice and would be something I would weave if I needed more clothing. They are a little on the smaller side and not too many large sizes. One can get an appoinment quite easily and often on the same day which is nice if you are visiting and in need of a professional to do your hair. Give it a try! I am sure you'll like it.
