Alex did my hair and makeup for my wedding, as well as the hair for my wedding party. She did a fantastic job, and I look great in my wedding pictures! She did a makeup style very in keeping with how I do my own personally - just glammed up a bit. And she improvised a beautiful hairdo based around a string of pearls and decorative comb. It was very flattering and stayed in place for the entire event. The makeup stayed put too! My only, slightly minor, gripe is that we cut it VERY close timing-wise. We were ready for the ceremony, but we ended up being pretty close to the wire and it stressed me out quite a bit. Considering the fact that it all turned out fine though, this really is a minor point. I would still recommend her for special events, no doubt. read more

My favorite thing about Alex is that she creates color recipes for all her clients so you are assured the same color each time or she will refer to it before implementing the color change. Alex came very highly recommended from other local hair stylists for my wedding, and she was great to work with. She was quick to respond and really understood my vision for the big day. I also appreciated how organized she was in scheduling all the appointments with my bridesmaids and making sure we had enough staff on hand to complete all of the appointments. The only reason I'm giving her 4 out of 5 stars is because, though the hair was gorgeous, it only lasted 30 minutes. By the time we got to the venue, the curls were already falling out, and by the time the ceremony was over, we might as well have straightened my hair. Above anything else, Alex is talented, experienced, and excels in her craft. I found Alex on Yelp and gave her a call the week of my engagement shoot in Tahoe. My fiancé and I gave her our full trust. We both had our hair cut and styled, as well as my makeup done by Alex hours before our shoot (going against the grain of all wedding advice). I had emailed her a picture of myself, as well as some simple looks I'd like to achieve. I don't wear a lot of makeup and my hair is pretty easy to maintain, so I wanted a look that was a natural as possible. My fiance, the day before, had obtained a disastrous hair cut that made him look like he was doing a cameo in the show Living Color. Alex was able to highlight my features, match my skin color perfectly, and keep the makeup looking and feeling natural + light. My curls also stayed in all day. She also worked wonders on my fiance's hair and made he look clean/handsome, without the "recently cut" look. The biggest test to all of Alex's work was our adventurous engagement shoot: hiking in snow, multiple quick outfit changes, and freezing cold weather. Everything held up! I felt extremely comfortable and beautiful throughout the day. It's not in my nature to "make sure everything stays in place" when it comes to hair and makeup. I live at Tahoe and feel so fortunate to have such a talented stylist nearby. Alex knows hair and how to cut it to make it work for you. She is also excellent with color and full of practical advice. I'm not into a lot of maintenance, but was tired of looking at my ever increasing gray hair. Alex suggested low lights in my dark brown hair, and it has been working perfectly for me. She leaves a little gray in here and there, and as the new gray hair grows back, it blends and is not as noticeable as if I were covering all the gray, which means fewer visits to the salon. Alex did my hair and makeup on June 19, 2016 for my wedding :) she did an amazing job with not only me but also my mother and one of my bridesmaids. She arrived early and made sure that we had plenty of time prior to the start of the ceremony for pictures with the bridesmaids. I did ask her if she could not put any foundation on me cause I'm not used to wearing it but she suggested that I should have some on but not too much. And yes she was right!
