After reading ample reviews and scrolling IG pages, I found Kortney S and booked an appointment for a custom color to freshen up my hair after year of growth after my last balayage. I showed her pictures of my desired hair color, which was a lot lighter and icier than my starting point - and honestly, I didn't think we'd be able to get there in one session. Hours later, after many foils, treatments and toning, I walked out with exactly what I wanted: a bright blonde head of hair with lots of dimension and it still feels really healthy! Good at taking money... not good at giving it back, when it is owed back. Interestingly I can no longer find my first review where I wrote in detail about Studio B's unethical financial practices of 1) overcharging me, then not informing me I was due a refund, and instead, just keeping it as a "credit" on my account (I moved out of town and then moved back to town years later... I go in for an appointment and to my surprise there was a $60 or so credit on my account that should have been refunded... I still don't even know why that credit was there, it was not a deposit, it was not a gift-- it was some sort of mistake or overcharge that they made on their end, that I was not informed about, and did not notice at the time of payment, so that was messed up, but I didn't even complain at the time). Then more recently 2) They cancelled my appointment due to stylist being out that day. They left me a message trying to book me with another stylist. I called back immediately saying thanks but no thanks, I need a refund. I get another message, kind of sassy this time, ignoring my request for the refund, saying yes we could do that since Studio B cancelled not you, but we'd really like to get you in with another stylist-- so at this point kinda bullying me into trying to re-book. I ignored it since I already made it crystal clear I asked for refund and she clearly received that message. A week passes, no refund. So I write to ask again. I'm told they don't do refunds, just credits on the account. I have to call and explain whole thing again. Then I find out, even though they charged my card for the deposit, they no longer have it, so they aren't able to give me a refund unless I could hunt down the credit card I used and give it to them over the phone. I'm like, ok well I don't know which card I used, so seriously?, I need to go look through my own bank records to figure out which one it was, since you don't know, even though YOU charged it? Only at that point does one of their employees agree that he could go look up the last 4 digits at least (such an inconvenience for Studio B, LOL, apparently I'm the one who is supposed to be inconvenienced) of the card used. I still then had to call back and give them the full number again (I have to go double check if it ever truly went through) and finally I get the refund, at least we hope. I left a 2 star review here about what happened, and got a call from some manager who I said she wanted to "make it right with me" so I took the time to call her back. She asks me what happened even though I already wrote a novel about it so she knew exactly what happened, that's why she called in the first place. I repeat the story. She responds in a defensive posture (no idea how to do customer service whatsoever) to explain to me why they couldn't issue the refund. Why they didn't store my card. How they use some 3rd party software when you book online, that took the deposit, so just a big defensive, "not our fault, just the way it is, you just don't get it, do you get it now?" type story about why they did nothing wrong and then patronizingly ask me "does that make sense?" I say, well, yeah, it makes "sense", but it's still a bad policy: If you can't refund a deposit , you shouldn't take a deposit-- period. Then she says she "just wanted to personally apologize". Period. That's it. Long awkward silence. I say "OK". More long awkward silence, LOL. Then she asked me "where I'm at" in terms of if I planned to come back to Studio B. Um, well, NO is now the permanent answer to that. I have rarely encountered such inappropriate and bad customer service in my life. If they had had a clue about how to remedy this situation-- not been defensive-- not defended their bad practices-- not played dumb about what happened to me which she already was aware of-- and finally if they had graciously offered me a discount or credit or something, anything to actually "make it right"-- then I would have considered going back. As I said in my first review-- this company has gotten thousands of dollars from me over the years, I was a very loyal customer for a long time. Now I just wasted my time giving them free constructive criticism and feedback which they aren't going to use to change anything anyways. What a joke. Will never return to this salon. Beware. It's also insanely overpriced. Also not a good place to go if you're transitioning to gray hair. The first stylist I saw - when I said I wanted to do this, start transitioning, because my hair was already totally gray under the dye- told me I was too young to go gray and that it would look bad on me and basically made me feel ashamed of it and convinced me to keep dying it brown. That was one of their tippy -top stylists. I have also had some real color disasters here to be honest, which i never complained about at the time, but we both knew it didn't turn out right and looked like crap. Will never go back. read more

This is my go to hair place for forever on! It's like finding the one and only love of your life, but for your hair. Marianna, who does my hair, knows exactly what I want. The first time I went in my hair was horrible, grown out blonde/yellow hair. She made me look 1000% better and she actually did what I wanted to my hair. However, Studio Be Salon's website, stylists' portfolios on Instagram, and hearing about my friend's experience at their Old Town location left me feeling confident in my decision to come to them for my first haircut since moving to Fort Collins. Not only was it my first cut here in FoCo, but I was also wanting to get bangs and let me tell you - Celeste did an AMAZING job in 1) making sure I knew what I was getting myself into and 2) making them look SO good. Disclaimer: I'm 44 years old and just moved here from Chicago, where I adored my colorist. I'm old enough to know what I want, have very specific requirements (who doesn't, I guess!) and am super picky about my hair. We all know how nerve-wracking it is to move to a new area and have to find a new hair colorist/stylist. It's your HAIR! I waited 9 months and took 2 trips back home to see my colorist before taking the plunge out here to find someone new. After a ton of research and nail biting, I chose Haley H. at Studio Be's south location. I had a wonderful experience this morning! I was greeted by Andrea, who made me a tasty cup of coffee (they have flavored creamers, too!) and gave me my new formula card. Haley H. is super professional, courteous and a delight! She spent a ton of time talking with me before she mixed anything, looking at the formula my Chicago colorist wrote down for her, and getting specific info about my hair. I was impressed- she even asked about medications that might affect my color. As picky as I am, I had never thought about that! She explained exactly what she was doing as she colored, and she explained why she tweaked my formula a bit (my old colorist used Wella, and Studio Be uses Paul Mitchell colors, and they can process slightly differently). I felt she really listened to my concerns and was super thorough with how she did things. The shampoo room is a delight! It's closed off from the noise of the salon. Dark lighting, relaxing music, and warm wet towels for your comfort! I got a scalp massage and just generally felt pampered and spoiled. My color turned out beautifully, and pretty much to the exact specifications I was hoping for. My hair is below my shoulders, so I paid $140 + tip for a gray root touch up, full highlight and lowlight, cut, blow dry and style. I think that's completely reasonable given Haley's expertise, the nice salon facility and luxury shampoo room. I'm so happy I found Haley H., and I recommend her without reservation! Communication is key if you want to get the hair color you want, and the more questions you ask throughout the process, the happier everyone will be. But it really helps that Haley H. and the staff at Studio Be are nice, professional, and attentive. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Paid 300 for a cut and color for my wife. Cut turned out nice which I would hope it would be the color was super dull and faded out within a week. My wife used the shampoo they told her to use and followed all washing instructions. Total waste of time and money and will not be going back. Wish I would have asked for a partial refund. I moved from Kansas to Fort Collins approximately 6 months ago and had yet to find a new stylist. After some online stalking via Instagram photos, I chose to set up a last minute appointment with Haley H. I had gone back and fourth in my mind on whether or not I should book the appointment and spend the money. Let me tell you - I'm happy I did. Haley was amazing. She did a full cut and color on me and I was very pleased with the results. It turned out even better than what I had pictured in my mind. Not only is she talented, she is kind and a joy to be around. Haley had some big shoes to fill as I LOVED my stylist in KS, but she more than exceeded my expectations. I booked an appointment over the phone for a men's haircut. An appointment was set up for me for the following day in the afternoon. The salon is very upscale - like something in Hollywood. Shortly after arriving, I was greeted by my stylist Shelby. I showed here a photo of a haircut that I had in mind. She understood what I was hoping for and took me back to the wash room where she washed my hair and gave me the best scalp message ever. We headed back over to the styling station where Shelby gave me a first rate haircut. The $35 price before tip was more than I am used to paying in my home town, but the experience and end result were worth it. I would come back. read more

I had lots of questions and they took the time to help me pick a stylist and had me meet her (she was between clients). KAILYN! I immediately felt good vibes. I booked on the spot. Went in for simply a wash and blow dry. The young stylist was sweet and tried to please me. However, she definitely needs more training. I have thick hair and it definitely has a wavy texture, but it maintains a style well. I get regular blow drys where I live and they normally look nice for a minimum of 4 days and typically 6. Haley blow dried my hair and asked me how I liked it.... It was still damp and and had looked better when came into the salon. I asked her to please get it dryer and gave her a few suggestions on what would please me. After a few iterations my hair looked pretty good, so I thanked her, paid with a 20% tip and left. The style didn't even last until dinner, and this morning the day after it needed to be styled again. Even though Haley is one of their beginning stylists I expect more for $45+tip. She did do an excellent head massage and was very pleasant. I suggest one of the more experienced stylists spend some time giving Haley more training. read more

I decided to make a change, researched Studio Be, read some rave reviews and some extremely critical reviews and decided to give Studio Be a try despite the negative. Long story short, I will never go back to this salon. I spent over $400 only to have my hair color fade into an ugly overly warm dark blonde after two shampoos. The expensive pop of color looked good for a week and faded almost completely after the first shampoo. I decided to call and cancel my second appointment and left a message. I got an immediate return call from May who grilled me about the products I was using (I bought the shampoo and conditioner Studio Be recommended) and then told me I didn't understand the process and basically I was wrong to expect my hair would look as promised. No apology, no offer to make things right, just a snarky disparaging return call to let me know I'm at fault, really??? read more

Love the separate room where you get your hair washed. That room is fantastic. Peaceful, rejuvenating and a place I look forward to each time I visit. Elizabeth was my stylist before she went on maternity leave and I ended up rotating through several others while she was away. Each one was fantastic. Oh ya, I get to be the first :) Ok so its not secret that I love this place (the old town) location as I check in there more often then I probably should. BUT now they have a second location perfect for all of us forgotten south towners. This new location is close and comes with all wonderful things I love about my girls at Studio Be. Appointment time! My first thought was that I wanted to really dislike this south side spot so I could cling to my original old town location. Ive been seeing Beth for a while and she knows how to do hair, no doubt about that, but could she keep me a fan in a totally different environment? First impression time... If I am being totally honest I was actually a little surprised to see that this new salon is not a carbon copy of Studio Be original, dont know what I expected. Instead its got much more of a modern edge. Once over the initial shock I was blown away by how cool it is. I cant really describe it, its just too cool! I was relieved to find that it also has its own little separate washroom, my favorite part. As always the my hair looks beautiful by the hands of the talented Miss Beth and I have to admit that I kind of like the new location better. I brought in my college-age daughter to see what could be done with her severely color-damaged hair, thinking maybe someone could do something to at least get it on the right track to recovery. Not only did Meghan S do that, she gave her a really cute cut and a treatment that made it look and feel soft and healthy. I wish I could attach before and after photos, but my daughter would be mortified. We were nothing short of amazed (I'm not exaggerating) when we left there. Studio B is about the only place I get my hair cut anymore. I've been coming here for about 3 years now. Hannah, my stylist does a great job every time I come in and is very personable and fun to talk to. Studio B is a Paul Mitchell salon, and like most places, is somewhere you pay for quality. They rank their stylists into different tiers. The tiers called "levels" are equivalent to experience, client base, training, and also the price of your cut. So if you want a more experienced stylist you have to pay a little bit more. Studio B does a great job of making you feel welcome right when you walk in. As you check in your offered a drink (included in your cut) or tea, coffee, beer, wine, etc. They usually feature whatever's in New Belgium's most recent variety pack. Once you're up they take you back to the washroom. They have a variety of shampoo choices to choose from, and always offer a steam towel on the neck or face afterwards, which is followed by a quick scalp massage. They'll do brow waxing and a few other add ons at an additional charge. Next is the cut, which is fairly self-explanatory. Hanging out with your stylist, chatting, and them doing a great job. After the cut they'll always do a little bit of styling to your hair so that you look nice and fancy for the rest of the day. It's a nice place to go, all of the staff are friendly and they always do a fantastic job. read more

Recently went to your stylist Bailey for blonde highlights. After a few days I noticed a lot of breakage in my hair. Part of my face framing was sticking into the air and will not react to heat because it is so broken And my hair is falling out in the shower. Do NOT go to this stylist. She killed my hair and clearly isn't cut out for this work. I have doubts she's even certified to do hair because I've never had an experience as bad as this. My daughter usually gets her hair cut at the downtown studio but they couldn't get her in so sent her to the council tree address. However, they texted her the wrong address and she ended up at a liquor store. She called 3x for correct address and no one answered the phone. She googled it and showed up 10 minutes late so they rudely turned her away. They charge you at the B if you cancel or are late even if it's their fault. They made my 18 year old cry. Seriously? Who does that it's a salon not a mean girls movie. They were extremely rude and didn't care that it was their fault. My daughter called the booking line and the nice woman who answered kept her card from being charged and got her rebooked for the same evening. Now why couldn't the salon staff do that? Perhaps the reception staff need a class on customer service. I live right around the corner from Studio Be South and I couldn't be happier with them. My stylist Kelsey always does a great job with my hair. She has been doing my blond highlights for a while and I always loved it. Then she did an awesome job changing me into a brunette. She got the color exactly right, just the way I wanted it.
