I'm not going to lie. I absolutely hated my haircut. hatehatehate. First off, my hairdresser did not address my hair, my personality, nor my style when she lopped off my very long locks [albeit by MY request. She didn't swing her scissors blindly]. Here I was - a long haired, natural, albeit somewhat preppy chick - strutting out with a pixie, a-symmetrical, boy-cut.. It didn't seem even. It was heavy. I was devastated - to say the least. But, I'm not the type of person to let my hair get me down. So, I sucked it up like a real woman, and returned the next day to buy some products. As the receptionist attended to me, she sensed I was upset. Rather than let me go out unsatisfied, she insisted that I schedule an appointment with Beth, the owner, to fix it up a bit. I declined - mainly out of fear of having my hair further butchered. After some thought [and several shots of jameson later], I decided to accept the offer to meet with Beth. I must admit, thought I'm still not a gi-normous fan of short hair [particularly as many indi-ish, Fort Collins, girls seem to possess a variation on this haircut], I can deal. My haircut does not make me cry myself to sleep. In fact, it's grown on me, and it's easy to style. Well, it's easy to style now that Beth took the time to sit down with me, and literally demonstrate what to do and what products to use. And, ever since she fixed it, I've been getting major compliments. People noticed the slight changes she made to customize it more to fit me. My boyfriend - even though he has a preference for longish hair - said it looks sexy. So, would I recommend Studio Be? Hellz yeah. The customer service rocks. They have great, easy-to-use products. And, my hair cut is pretty cool now. But, be really sure to be specific about what it is YOU want. If you don't do that, do expect a major change. Whitney at Studio Be is probably the best hairdresser I have ever been to. I'm going to be sad when I move from Ft. Collins in the summer. I came to her on a recommendation from a friend. She did a big time cut on my hair-- from 4 feet of hair to a boy cut. And she did a great job. The atmosphere is fun and all of the staff make sure that your comfortable. I think studio Be is more romanticized than it should be. They do good marketing and advertisement especially in a college town, but most girls I know who go to studio B leave disappointed over something. I have personally got my hair done there several times, and the color fades if not completely disappears in about a month... where as if you add color at other salons, it lasts 4 to 6 months, in my experience. They have a nice brand name, but the services aren't that special. It is also pretty expensive... but I have paid less for better services elsewhere. This place was highly recommended to me and being from out of state I was looking for a great place to get my hair done. I tell you what, I will never go back there. I made an appointment online which I had to pay half when I scheduled it and when I showed up to my scheduled appointment, guess what, no appointment. I even showed them the email that was sent to me confirming my appointment and nothing, I don't think they really cared. They were unwilling to work me in or have the appointment that was in my place rescheduled. I tried to be patient and kept thinking they will make this right. Well....they didn't. The person that was suppose to cut my hair told me if I came back the next day she would work me in. I agreed, again thinking they want to make this right...NOPE! When I came back the next day, I told her what I wanted and what I paid for and she told me she did not have time to do that, so I said fine do whatever you have time for. Didn't know is the way haircut places work. But I guess they do at this place. Also, during my appointment they asked if I would like a glass of wine and I said yes and again...guess what....no wine....I had to ask three times for this glass of wine that they offered to me. But all of the hair stylists sport impressive and unique hair styles, giving you the confidence that they know what they're doing and you'll end up with a modern 'do. Jodie is the best; I was a frequent customer of hers for years until she moved. I also like the calming shampoo room, with aroma therapy scents, peaceful music and a scalp massage with ever wash. Spending a few minutes in this room before your cut/color is nice because the salon floor is always a bit chaotic. There never seems to be enough room for all the hair stylists and their customers. I recently moved to Colorado, and one of my biggest fears was not being able to replace my stylist. Whom I loved. I am very picky about who I let near my hair with scissors. I used to have hair to my knees and am currently trying to grow it longer again, so an inch off feels like A LOT to me. To test the salon out I went in for just a bang trim. I LOVE the look of the salon. So sleek and trendy. My bang trim went well, I wasn't pressured into trying to go shorter or (buy anything). I was pleased to I made an appoint for a hair cut. First off this salon, has beer. Yeah you read that right. You can drink a locally brewed beer while you get hair cut. I've died and gone to heaven. You're given a salon services menu when you arrive, and you pick what kind wash you need. (Dry hair, colored hair etc). My stylist took me early and I had no wait, I had some pictures on Pininterst I wanted to show her. I was looking for bangs that were taken from a little further back than mine are (making them thicker but keeping them sweeping), and more layers adding shorter top layers. (I specifically said shorter top layers and more choppy). But for some reason she said something like "I'm not going to add those right now into your hair". :-\ I don't know why I didn't ask why, I'm normally VERY vocal. The Zen Wash Room is AMAZING, but I agree this is where the sales pitch starts. If I want to know what products you are using I'll ask so I can buy them. I don't like feeling pressured. While combing my hair out and blow drying again I was pushed a product (which I did end up buying because it makes hair dry faster). But, I don't like feeling pressured, (All that needed to be said was something like "This serum is pretty cool it makes hair dry faster"). I liked my hair cut but, it wasn't as choppy as I wanted, and bangs weren't as short as I wanted. At check out I got told what shampoo and conditioner was used and that my stylist thought I should use it. I REALLY don't like this tactic. If I want products I'll ask for them. It makes me feel uncomfortable and pressured. I will be back and continue to use them, for the price they are amazing. They have levels of stylist raging from 1-5. 1 Stylists are cheapest, but even the 5 stylists are totally sensible prices. read more

This was my first visit here and I loved it! As soon as I walked through the door I was amazed with how trendy the salon looks. It is so bright and open and the shampoo room was neat & relaxing. I got a haircut at a different salon and wasn't too happy with the results. Even though I arrived a few minutes late the front desk staff still let me keep my appointment and were very attentive. I recently moved to Fort Collins & needed a hair cut. I decided on Studio Be because it got good reviews, and it looked pretty cool when I walked by. I went twice, and will never go back. Jodie cut my hair both times - the first time she thinned my long naturally wavy hair WAAAAAYYY too much. The next time I went (still had hope) I asked her to not use razors/thin it - that part was good, but my bangs sucked. I looked like I: a) either got into a fight with a lawn mower b) my 5-year old sister cut them. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, everyone was friendly, I LOVED the hair washing room - so relaxing! I don't think Studio Be as a whole should be avoided, but I would definitely ask for another stylist. As of right now I decided I'm not going back & I'm a little sad. I had a great experience at Studio Be. When I walked in I was greeted kindly and offered a complimentary beverage and to take a look at the shampoo menu, which included several different scents and treatments. My hairdresser (Hannah) consulted me about my desired look, and she seemed attentive to my specific concerns and desires. She told me that she loved giving short haircuts, and that it was her area of expertise. We then went to the shampoo room, which was dimly lit with some relaxing spa music and pleasant ambiance--it's nice that it's separated from the rest of the bright, bustling salon. After my shampoo Hannah offered me a hot towel for my neck. All right! Hannah seemed like she knew what she was doing with my hair (she even mentioned my occipital bone), and although the cut turned out a little shorter than I expected, I was pleased with the result. I can't say enough good things about this place. So I've been a frequent customer here for almost a year and I have to say that my visits are consistently wonderful and so enjoyable. My stylist, Laurie, is one of the most lovely people I have ever met! She talks to me about ALL my problems, hair wise or personal. The ladies up front are such a pleasure to speak to every time and I swear my confidence soars just stepping into that place. I've been going to Studio B for about 7 months, recommended by a friend. I love the head massages that come as part of a cut. And my stylist is great. However, after making a trip out of my way to get a bang trim yesterday, I was told they no longer do drop-in bang trims, and the appointment options offered are at ridiculous times - basically if you have a day job, you can't get a bang trim during the week. I consider this a reduction in service, maybe to the point where I'll switch salons. If I have to start making bang appointments it just starts to get inconvenient, and plenty of other salons do offer drop-in bang trims. I wish they'd change the policy back... read more

The upside: Nice clean, uncluttered salon. Lorraine is a great stylist and has great "chair-side" manner. I recommend her. I also recommend services that take place in the "wash-room." They lower the lights and put on great music. The downside: They do not use real scheduling software to make appointments via their website. You fill out an online form and then someone calls you and you HAGGLE via phone for a spot. I just left my 4th haircut at Studio Be. It's rare that I actually re-book a haircut at the same place because I have a LOT of hair, and I find that most people don't actually know how to cut thick hair very well. Usually I leave a salon with an "oh well, better luck next time" attitude. Finally I decided to go with the most expensive stylist at Studio Be, and that person happened to be Darby. She was amazing. I don't think I've ever loved a haircut so much. Alas, when I went to re-book with her I was told she moved to the Western Slope and no longer works there. This was a year ago and I'm still devastated about it. She was un-phased by my really thick hair and didn't bat an eye at the three long dreadlocks I keep beneath all of this hair. The following two haircuts I booked with Studio Be were still really good, and kept me coming back. Fast forward to this week -- It's spring, it's quarantine, I work overnights in a hospital and so I feel constantly drabby and tired. I wanted really cute bangs to swing me into summer and make me feel fresh. I get bangs about once a year and then grow them out (I like change), so I'm not new to the fringe thing. They've always been mediocre bangs, but this time I came with photos and I knew what to ask for to suite my face shape really well. If you take a look at my attached photos, you will see what I asked for vs what I got. The bangs are horrible. They're horribly uneven, they go all the way to my temples, and they accentuate all the things about my face that I do not like, and they've been cut too short on the sides to even try to fix in some way to mimic what I actually wanted. There is so much bang cut that I can't even pin them back all the way to hide them. (I'll try to add a photo). The stylist verbalized back to me a few times what I wanted, so I had faith that she understood what she was doing. She said she'd give me some layers around my hair for texture, and layers around my face up to my chin as well. Instead of layers she got a thinning tool and cut away pieces around my face that look less like layers than dead ends. She also ran out of time and let me leave the salon with halfway dried hair, completely unstyled, poofy bangs (that were dried with a round brush -- hello 1988). I was embarrassed to walk out like there but hoped that I could style it into something cute when I got home. Instead I took this photo and realized there was nothing I could do. I called the salon letting them know about the haircut. The first woman I talked to made it sound like she was more worried about the stylist learning how to fix it than she was about the fact that I just got a really bad haircut and was pretty unhappy about it. She told me their policy was that the stylist would call me back, and I would go back in to see her to have her try and fix it, but I don't wish to have this stylist do my hair again. I told her I'd think about it. I called back and talked to a different woman who was very kind and understanding. She filled out a form, said it would be sent to management, and that management would call me back within 24 hours to talk about how to move forward. I requested either a refund or a credit towards my next haircut, but she said she didn't have the authority to do this. I talked to her two days ago and still have not received my phone call. I am hopeful that Studio Be can remedy this situation, and I will update this review when that does happen to share the remainder of my experience. I think we all know how devastating it can be to have a horrible haircut where ways to hide it are few and far between. *** UPDATE *** Erin from Studio Be called me from her personal cell phone and was incredibly kind and helpful. She made sure to get me scheduled in with one of their best to get my blowout finished, and have him help me find some things to do with my hair until it grows out for a re-cut. She also credited my account for my future cut, and was really intent on making sure that the situation could be remedied as best as possible. After my poor haircut I called my cousin who owns a salon in the Midwest to ask her what to do. She encouraged me to call back, and I'm glad I did rather than just taking my business elsewhere. I really like the majority of my haircuts from Studio Be, and I believe it says a lot about a company when they are willing to work to fix a situation that's less than ideal. My cousin also reminded me that we're all human, and not everyone does their 100% best all of the time, which I certainly understand. Will continue to update after my blowout this week. Vanessa is awesome! I've recently moved here, and left an excellent stylist. I've tried several places in the area, but I think I've found home here with Vanessa! She is easy going, she listens to your hair dreams (and doesn't tell you it is crazy or impossible!), she is a wizard with matching hair color, and she's an all around cool person. I recommend! The studio itself is open and airy and feels comfortable, and they have a really relaxing wash room where the lighting is dim and your stylist gives you a head massage while washing your hair. I have gone to Studio Be in Old Town three times since moving to Fort Collins. The first time, the style was okay, and I enjoyed the experience well enough to come back. The second time was a mess: I scheduled 3 months in advanced, and the week of my appointment, the salon called me to reschedule three different times. The hairdresser didn't work there anymore, then the one they rescheduled me with stopped working there. Then once we finally rescheduled, at the appointment, the hair stylist and another stylist nearby cussed and gossiped about their coworkers the whole time. It was so unenjoyable. Before leaving, they asked me to schedule a follow-up three months later, which I did because they gave me a complementary hair treatment for my birthday. You can't beat the location right downtown with ample free (what?!) street parking for 2 hours. Upon arrival at the studio I was greeted by a friendly face at the front desk who walked me through the process at the salon and handed me my menu card on which I could select a beverage of my choice (beer & wine included...awesome!), services needs, style of products to be used and any special requests. They also have a section for add ons like brows, deep conditioning treatment and my personal choice...an extra 10 minute scalp massage. Sign me up! The salon is impeccably clean, well decorated and has the perfect blend of dark modern furniture & brick exposed walls. The vibe inside is bustling yet still easy to relax in...especially with that glass of vino. My stylist was Bethany who was a super sweet & experienced gal who gave the perfect amount of advice and conversation. I went with a root touch up, highlights around my face and a trim all of which she executed perfectly. One of the junior level associates stepped in for my wash & scalp massage - and I wish I had gotten her name because her scalp massage was killer. I just had my first experience with Studio Be, and I am already looking forward to my next visit. The staff is all very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was fun, and my hair is now silky smooth. The washroom was wonderful...full wash and hair treatment complete with hot towel and scalp massage. From there, my stylist, Brenna, made sure to ask plenty of questions about my hair and how I style it before even touching it with the scissors. Really great, quality salon. Excellent hair cuts. But to see a senior stylist, you have to book 2-3 months in advance. I'm from NYC an lived in LA too, and I always went to high quality salons there. And I have to say that the hair cuts I got at Studio Be were on-par with my favorite stylist in NYC. But I booked 2 weeks in advance in NYC, and that was with a full-time insane job. I work from home now and basically can go any time, whenever, either of their salon locations. I still can't get an appointment with a senior stylist without calling 3 months in advance. Not realistic at all. If they really are that busy, they should hire more senior stylists. That being said, really great stylists. I wish it was easier to book appointments. read more

The biggest appeal for me to Studio Be is their high style, I always feel like I'm going to walk out a least a little bit cooler that day. In the beginning it's always intimidating, both of their locations are so nice and everyone is top notch style. But once you get to talking to anyone in there, receptionist or stylist, you feel 100% welcomed. This is customer service at it's best! I believe yesterday was my 5th visit to Studio Be. Well...as always, I'm very happy with it. I never request a specific stylist because I just always feel like I can trust any stylist at any level because Studio Be has done their work before they're actually out on the floor. When I went in yesterday, I had Casey (sp?) and I essentially explained to her what I didn't like about my hair and what I did like. That brought me to exactly the haircut I wanted. Three years ago I decided to go very very blonde before a trip to china (I guess I just wanted more attention over there). That decision on my part was a mistake because obviously getting my hands on actual quality blonde color is practically impossible. Oh well. Nonetheless I had one of the blonde experts there, it was a great experience. There were a few little blotches here and there, mostly because I was going pretty extreme, and they got me in the next day to get it fixed complimentary before it even opened! My recent visit to Studio Be was an all-around lovely experience. I moved to Colorado recently and haven't allowed anyone but my former stylist touch my hair or brows. However, it was time: my hair was in desperate need of attention. They were able to get me in on very short notice and Darian gave me exactly the pampering I needed. My visit began with the receptionist offering to get me a drink and then assisting me with parking. The parking in downtown is only two-hour parking and I had a feeling I would be a little longer than that. She was super helpful and I found free parking that I had never known existed before. Loved it! I loved my experience. I got a perm with Lorraine. I've never been to Studio Be before but read really great reviews on it here. Lorraine was experienced and helpful. I absolutely love my hair. I've had many compliments already about it and (to my surprise) many people have thought that it was my natural hair! Yay! Anyway, I would totally recommend Studio Be Salon and will definitely be a return customer in the future. The reason for the four stars is because I purchased a shampoo/conditioner set only to realize I was given two conditioners and now have to go out of my way to return one of them. Not a huge deal and certainly not a reflection of my hair stylist but still, it's an inconvenience I would rather not have. When I called about it the receptionist was friendly and apologetic and more than happy to make the exchange. But again, this place is out of my way (not close to my work or home) so I really wish they had given me the correct stuff to begin with (if they had, this would have been a five-star review). read more

At studio be salon, they always make sure that you are taken care of and communicate realistic expectations. I've been dying my hair fashion colors there for years and am now transitioning to more natural and I cannot tell you what an amazing job Haley at the south location does. Fabulous experience with Amanda. I was visiting from Arizona for a wedding, and last minute realized I needed a style with a hot tool. I had met a lady the night before who highly recommended studio be and their services, so I figured it would be worth a shot! So happy I went. I called Friday mid morning to try and get an appointment, and they were able to fit me in on such short notice! The lady who booked my appointment was outstanding, thorough, very detailed, and knowledgeable. I arrived for my scheduled appointment that day, I was greeted with warmth. Offered a beverage, and instructed to wait for my stylist to get me. Amanda came out and introduced herself (on time!) And swiftly took me back to the chair. We discussed styling options, and how a hot tool was included (for a FABULOUS price) then we went to the shampoo room. And wow! I was impressed. Relaxation, meditation,a hot towel during scalp massage, and an impressively solid 10 minutes later I was back in my chair for the style. She was personable, genuine, professional, and friendly while promptly styling my hair. Finished with a delicious smelling spray, and I was very pleased. While waiting to check out she patiently stood by me until it was my turn, which was also an amazing add to the customer experience. All in all it was a fabulous experience. I never felt rushed. She never worked hastily. And I was left feeling as though I acquired a new friend and relationship in just 45 minutes. Rare? Quite. Exceptional? Absolutely. I'd love to return if ever in the area. I absolutely loved the outcome of my hair! But with that being said, I felt extremely upcharged. I booked an appointment over the phone with a junior stylist and was told it would be $160 for some highlights and a cut. I only had a partial set of highlights done. When I arrived I was then told I would be charged over $230(not including tip). I'm pretty sure that's the prices if you get your hair done by a master stylist, but I had mine done by a junior stylist. I then decided not to get my hair cut because of how expensive it was. I'm not sure if a mistake was made, but I ended up paying way more than anticipated even without a cut. I double checked all of the prices online and I definitely should not have charged that much. I still loved my hair and the service was great, I just wish the pricing was more transparent. read more

So I have been coming to Studio Be for the past 6 years and have not once had a bad experience. I have been seeing Miss Kortney for the past 3 years and she is seriously the best! Her color skills are on point! I show her a picture of what I am thinking and she nails it every time and is very up front and honest about what you are trying to achieve! You can tell she truly loves what she does and cares about her clients and what they are trying to achieve.
