I've been a client for 16 years and have seen several wonderful technicians come and go as their families grow and they enter different phases of their lives. Donna has been a constant and I continue to be pleased and impressed with all services and Aveda products as a loyal customer. The young women are ALL fantastic and Ben is such a friendly, kind face that greets with sun shine over the phone or in person. I took my mom into studio, Donna for a haircut appointment. They had had a cancellation and were able to work her in and it was a great experience they cut my mom's hair. Overall, would I recommend this salon and spa, no. Why? I've used this establishment since I moved to the area in late 2014. In the numerous encounters I've had with th owner she has never been friendly and seems like she couldn't care less about her customers. She frequently won't ask if you need to reschedule when she rings you up and seems put out if you request to reschedule. She has also been difficult for me with rescheduling. Example: I gave her a few days I could get a service (waxing so the appointments are short) with a 3 hour time slot for each where both my kids are at school. She gave me two options that were not within those slots before I told her I'd figure something out later and left. (At that point I was on the fence with using her spa and this locked in that I wouldn't (and haven't) used her spa again.) I think this is because the woman who works her spa is trying to clump appointments together and her time frame didn't line up with mine (more on that later). The only saving grace in this category is Ben. He works her front counter much of the time and is super friendly. Spa: Most of my experiences with this location have been in the spa. I've mostly had lip and brow waxes but also a couple facials. The service is always at least adequate and I like that they have you laying on a table rather than sitting in a chair or using the hair wash sinks. I do notice there is high turnover in this area where I don't think I've seen the same person there for more than 6 months to a year. More recently I was getting my brow and lip waxed every 3 weeks. About every 2nd or 3rd appointment I'd get called a couple hours before my appointment and asked to move my appointment later by an hour or so. Eventually I wasn't able to move anymore because I'd be at risk of not being home in time to meet my kids school bus and couldn't change my time. About then I noticed the amazing, very thorough service I was getting started to not be so great anymore and I wonder if it has to do with my inability to move my appointments to convenience of the esthetician. I mentioned earlier about them wanting to clump appointments. This is the explanation I was given for the request of me to change times and not something I've assumed. Salon: I've had a handful of haircuts here. Some have been great, others were okay. My decision to not go back follows a recent haircut. I stated I wanted a bob when I made the appointment and I have suspicions the stylist they gave me the wasn't proficient with bobs. She had Donna come over to check her work and for the handful of bobs I've had over the last decade, this one seems the most difficult to style well and not have it looks like a puffy lamp shade. When Donna rang me up, she also told me it would be more expensive because I had a style change. This is not something I've heard of before at her salon or others I've been to. I love supporting local businesses but I also expect to feel like my business is appreciated. Nothing over the top but a friendly greeting and a thank you for visiting don't see too much to ask. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere where hopefully they will appreciate their customers. read more

This is based on scheduling and COVID policies only!! I was very impressed with the ease of the scheduling process. I am asking for a short pixie cut and a full bleach and color. I spoke to Donna herself and she asked great questions to figure out what I wanted. She said the spa is very booked but they are going to fit me in for what will be a lengthy service. I asked about mask policies and she said that she has always required them throughout the pandemic, which I really appreciate as the mother of a 1 year old who is unable to be vaccinated right now. I love Studio Donna Salon but have only gotten haircuts with Randa. My hair had been previously damaged (and loss of hair) at another salon two years ago so color was out of the question for a long time to come. Randa has done an excellent job with my haircuts and it is looking better and better each day. I would highly recommend Randa who is attentive to your needs and listens to what you ask for. Today I thought I would call in to make an appointment for some color and was told that there were no appointments available with Randa until June! The receptionist offered another stylist but having a prior bad experience elsewhere I simply cant leave it to chance. Why and when has making hair appointments become such an issue? I've used their waxing service off and on over the course of 14 years, but never the hair salon. The salon I used to go to in Seattle closed recently, and I decided to take this opportunity to find something close to home. I scheduled a cut and color, telling the receptionist I'd like to lighten my hair going into summer. As soon as I sat down, I was told there wouldn't be time to lighten my hair. That the best we could do was just color it the same color it is to get the roots. From there, I was reminded 4 times that we were going to run out of time. I was shocked. I'd think that you'd schedule an appointment erring on the side of caution; enough time to talk about what the client wants with their hair and maybe a little extra in case I'm Crystal Gayle coming in with hair to my ankles. But I have shoulder length hair! My stylist was very nice, and very apologetic when we didn't even have time to STYLE my hair after my appointment. Couldn't flat iron it, no time. She offered to have someone else come over and flat iron it, but at that point I just wanted to go home. That aside, the place is very clean and friendly and welcoming. But I don't see myself going back for hair. I know where my old stylist went, I'll just continue to make the drive to Seattle. read more

The first time I came in to get my haircut I loved it. The second time they ruined my hair. What was supposed to be a short bob turned out to be a pixy haircut that didn't even match my face shape. My bangs were short and halfway through my forehead, I have an oval face shape by the way which short bangs and a pixy haircut only make my face look even longer. I paid and I acted like the haircut was ok but as soon as I walked out I cried because my beautiful hair was gone. Sadly I don't remember the name of the lady that cut my hair but I don't recommend getting a haircut here. It has been almost 3 years since the incident and I have now grown my hair out. They are expensive too the first time I had a haircut here I paid a little over $100 for a bob. Great stylists over the years. This past year, getting an appointment has been a nightmare. Myself and 4 family members have all moved on because getting an appointment is too difficult. Prices and quality are good but having to schedule so far out is too much. My last appointment was scheduled a month out. We moved on to the Ulta salon and a local place that is excellent and 2/3 the price with great availability. I loved Studio Donna and thought I'd go there forever but the change in availability is just too much. read more

I am a relatively new customer to Studio Donna, I came to the salon after a rather bad haircut/color drove me away from my last hairdresser. I just had my second appointment with Amanda and I want to say that she has done a fantastic job. Unlike many of the hairdressers I have worked lately, she understands how to shape hair so that it falls nicely and I am not left struggling every morning with my cowlicks. The foil I got really demonstrates that she understands how to work with color (this is not a given with all hairdressers). She is also really good at asking questions and listening to my concerns/requests and her hair care product suggestions have been spot on. The salon itself is clean, spacious and restful feeling. The front desk staff members do a great job of working with waiting customers. I find their prices very competitive and the price of their products reasonable especially considering the quality. I am very happy to have found this place. My hair is quickly recovering from its "awkward moment" thanks to Amanda's talent. I am looking forward to way less bad hair days. :-) read more

On my last apt I tried to book a facial but they were booked out about 2 months. I booked it anyway. Now 2 months later...one day before my apt I get a call from the salon. They say the lady has had multiple cancelations and they are trying to book me earlier in the day. That's fine although they have done this 3 times in the past with me. I tell them I will talk to my husband because he is out that am and I'm not sure if I can book earlier due to the fact I have a baby at home. My husband didn't get home til after the salon closed so I was unable to cb that day. First thing in the am (day of apt) I get a Text from them asking if was able to come in earlier, I let them know unfortunately I was not my husband would not be back until the afternoon. They then ask if I can come in later in the evening which I was also not able to do because we had my brothers b day that evening. I told them that I really just needed to keep my apt. If possible. THEN the lady replies back "why don't you just come in earlier and bring your baby, they can hang out in the room with you or we can have someone at the salon watch them". ??!!. Ya that's appropriate! That's what I want to do on a spa day, have my one year old trapped in a room with me on what? My lap?? While I get a facial how's that supposed to work? Or have some complete STRANGER in the salon watch her??!! I try to stay calm and reply "I will just reschedule" she then replies with this."I'm trying to do what I can to help you and her. I'm caught here in the middle a bit. It's Tiffany's birthday today and unfortunately I told her we could work this out earlier. I apologize profusely and would be happy to comp you a free facial.". So now all that about having cancelations etc was a lie really it's this grown woman's b day and they told her she could have it off. So this ping pong text was a waste of time honestly I would've had more respect for them if they called me day before explained they had to cancel my apt because THEY made a mistake and offered the comp then. Because i would've taken it and returned. But you don't lie to me about cancelations, call me last minute to reschedule when I've been booked out two months AND most importantly you don't tell someone to bring their baby in and either have them sit in the room or have a complete stranger watch them. Ya im going to go ahead and take my business to another Aveda salon that isn't out of their minds and can handle basic scheduling and customer service, especially since I'm paying 150$ for a facial and product, I'm not Kim k this was supposed to be a treat and turned out to be a joke. Another relationship has come to and end, I been going to this place for years for haircuts and facials every 2 to 3 months. After I was let down and treated horribly at the Aveda Firefly salon in Snohomish, Studio Donna squeezed me in for an appointment and treated me how I deserve to be treated! I ended up working with Lydia for a hair cut and balayage and she was such a sweet woman and did a fantastic job. This salon has a great atmosphere and is very relaxing, has great employees, and reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this salon and Lydia for any service! read more

The people here are stuck up, rude, and too expensive. I went as a bridesmaid to get my hair done. They were running late and weren't happy that five young women were in the seating area "taking up all the seats." The owner came over and asked us to sit in the back on plastic hard chairs because "we were in the way." Yeah, buddy, we're paying customers, bite me. Anyway, I got my hair "done." She took my hair, slicked it back, wrapped in a messy bun and charged me $65. When I told her I didn't like it at all, she said that was too bad but others were waiting. The other bridesmaids were equally unhappy with their hair and the service. My mom showed up to shuttle all us bridesmaids back to the church. She looked at me and said "haven't you had your hair done yet?" when I told her I had she said "what? it looks like you just got out of the shower and tied it back." I paid money for that!! Studio Donna is a nice-looking full service salon. The stylist I saw, Caroline, is very sweet, but extremely scissor-happy. I was semi-okay with this, because she usually gave a good cut... the style was cute, but usually way shorter than I wanted. And this was usually only every other visit. LOL Just enough to give me hope. She always sat me down in the consultation chair, but I just didn't get the impression she was listening to what I wanted. On my last visit I tried to voice my concerns, as she had cut three inches off my hair when I had asked for a quarter-inch trim. Suddenly, I was treated like *I* had done something wrong! I had been going to this salon for two years, but I was treated like I was trying to pull a scam on them. The manager and owner were snotty and very rude, and acted annoyed and suspicious. They really didn't seem like they cared how I felt at all. The owner actually said to me, "I don't see what the problem is, shorter hair is in right now." Really? The problem is, it's not what I asked for. And it's MY head, thank you. I was shocked at their lack of professionalism. I guess you don't really get to know what kind of business you're dealing with until you have a disagreement with them. I'm an extremely loyal customer, and if they had handled the situation with more grace, I would probably have continued going there. The pickin's are kind of slim when it comes to decent salons in Everett. But I'm not going to keep going here just because they're the best I can find, locally. I guess I'll be schlepping it out to Seattle from now on. read more

I have been going to Aveda salons for 8 years, and have never had a worse experience in my life. I went in to get an up-due for my friends wedding. The store was busy with all the bridesmaids getting their hair done, when the owner walked over to me looking very displeased. She proceeded to touch my bangs and told me they looked greasy. She then asked if I had washed my hair that morning. I told her that I had washed my hair the night before. She then decided to wash my hair, and while washing my hair she asked if I had a boyfriend. I told her no, and then she told me that I should take better care of my hair if I want a boyfriend in the future. She told me that my hair had a bad smell because of the grease. I know my hair is far from perfect, but I don't understand how my hair could smell that bad when I had literally washed it the night before. I was so embarrassed and humiliated, and felt trapped because it was my friends wedding day and I didn't want to cause a scene in the salon. The owner/stylist also commented on my natural hair color and suggested that I dye it in the future. I have never been spoken to so poorly by someone in customer service. As a flight attendant, and someone who has worked in customer service for 8 years, I can say this is completely unacceptable behavior. While she has talent, and made my up-due look pretty, it doesn't make up for the fact that she treated me like human garbage. read more

I had my fair share of waxee horror stories before finding Mariya at Studio Donna. You can't beat the price of their brazilians and you more than get what you pay for. Time flies and I have now been making the drive from Seattle to Everett for several years now. Mariya clearly loves her job and clients-I have never seen her have a bad day. Just a tip: I always come in immediately after showering. They don't offer a towlette (however I have never asked). Positives: Maria - THE BEST FACIAL YOU WILL EVER HAVE!!!! I had facials in 4 different countries. Maria is truly the best! Amanda- the best Color! I had partial highlights done. She did a GREAT job! I got tons and tons of compliments. Amanda is very professional and a great gal! Katie- customer service. She is trying to be professional and polite, but interrupts a lot! The Salon and its policies - HORRIBLE! Be aware of HIDDEN CHARGES. I ended up paying extra $35 for a cut. I thought I paid $ 50 for a cut. When I came home and reviewed my receipt - I saw extra $35 charge. When I called the salon, I was told it was for extra time it took to cut my hair. The money is not a problem, I am blessed financially. The issue is that I felt cheated. They inserted the extra fee without telling me! Amanda spent 95% on coloring my hair and only about 5% of her time for a very simple haircut. But I ended up paying total of $85 for a simple cut. I would get a much better deal in any other salon, for $85 I would get a fancier haircut!!!! The Salon and its policies: Donna has to allow her hairdressers more time per customer! They scheduled me only 1.5 hour for a partial highlights and a cut. I was getting my hair colored for last 10 years. My usual appointment usually last 2,5 or even 3 hours. So, I think Donna pushes her stuff to do a quicker job for a lot of money, and if the hairdresser is behind the schedule, she has to charge extra fee to the client. I think, it is a bad policy. Donna, being a great businesswoman, (I know her personally) will eventually loose her clients. The latest update: I called to complain about the hidden charge and they offered me to come back for a free hair trim in a couple days. read more

What a pleasant surprise! I came here with a friend for one of their higher falutin' pedicures and I was not disappointed. My friend was having a manicure and I think they ended up giving us the manicure/pedicure one person special price and let us split it. The price was right, the service was great. It was clean and everyone working there was well-dressed and pleasant. They even had our names up on a reader board greeting us as new customers and gave us a coupon for our next visit. This is an Aveda spa, so if you don't care for Aveda products, this is not the place for you. Overall, color me impressed! read more

Well I had another spa day. It was only after leaving that I realized that I had welts raised on my arms from the waxing. Monica is probably an ok facial aesthetician, however this and other things makes it clear to me that for body services she might be inexperienced, which turns out to be important. I've had body scrubs and wraps at other salons and I think they may be not understanding them here. But that's probably a business thing more than the girls fault. I will say that Monica's treatment did leave me fairly relaxed, despite getting wax dribbled in my hair or the welts on my arms. But the real thing is after a spa day, one doesn't really expect haggling, especially since I confirmed prices and services when booking, and I had purchased packages with a set rate. I know we all make the occasional mistake, however, buyer beware that the prices listed online are only "starting prices" and specifically that more is charged because the technicians I saw had "been there a while", though I do question the level of experience required for beentherawhile prices. Then they said it's because I had an hour facial rather than a half hour one because it was put in the computer wrong. They did eventually lower the price, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The girls, including Monica, are very sweet, and deserve pay set by their employer, but that has nothing to do with the customer. read more

I have been to Studio Donna a few times before for eyebrow waxing. Today I decided to get a brow wax, tint and Brazilian. Previously, Maria had given me brows a model would be jealous of and I thought could never have in my life. Maria was unavailable so I was scheduled with Irena, her daughter. I knew I would be in great hands, and I was! Not only is she a great at waxing, Irena made me feel very comfortable and was incredibly fast without feeling like she was rushing (which, believe me, is important in a service like that). Still love this salon! I have seen a variety of hair stylists at the salon. I still love going to Desirae (probably because I relate with her hair style and color). Although the salon is higher end for prices, it is well worth it. The atmosphere is calming. The products are as "natural" as it gets when you are coloring and shampooing your hair. Love the hair products. Love the service. Realized it is decent to tip around 15-20% per service, just as you would in a restaurant if you are satisfied with the service! This is a must go and a must try! They have weekly email specials. Currently they are running a nail and massage special. Each week they offer 20% last minute appointments. I can't say enough good things about this salon! About 6-7 years ago, I went there to have them correct my 'blonde' hair I had received at a mall salon. They took my streaky hair, and transformed it into the most beautiful, honey-blonde hair that I've ever seen. I'm a natural brunette, but no one ever believed me when I told them! I stopped going when I went back to my natural color. This fall, I again tried another competitor for a cute short cut. I asked for a stacked bob, with bangs. I did NOT walk out with that. I quickly made an appointment at Studio Donna, with Desirae. She gave the best consultation, running her hands through my chopped hair, and looking at the photos I'd brought in. She repeated back to me what I was asking, so I knew she was listening. I walked out with the BEST haircut I've ever had! Its EXACTLY like the photos, it was QUICK, and I had serious doubts she'd be able to do anything with the hack job I walked in with. This was my first time here and I was very satisfied with the professional service provided. First, I arrived and was greeted by the friendly host with her awesome short hair. Then Briana(senior hair dresser) came over introduced herself and did a brief but thorough consultation with me to make sure she knew what I wanted done. She proceeded to shampoo and conditioner my hair and she took her time and was gentle(relaxing). She talked to me thru the hair cut process, then cut, dried and styled it the way I wanted. I've been a loyal customer for several years (my mom as well). The salon is bright, very clean and the wonderful spa smell greets you when you walk through the door. I enjoy the extra touches such as cloth towels and spa hand soap in their restroom. I love Mariya who does my waxings and facials. It's actually relaxing to get my brows done! You get to enjoy the comforts of a spa treatment room and she really knows what she's doing. Kaitlin is my hair stylist and is very professional, stays current with beauty trends, and has taken extra time with me to show me how to replicate my hair style when I'm at home. Katie at the front counter is friendly and helpful. I don't recall ever having to wait more than a minute or two for any appointment. They are very time efficient.
