I've had my hair cut by the owner several times. She's been late pretty much every time, but I never held her to the time allotted as I know she's a busy woman and does a good job. BUT. Someone else did my hair this last time. I requested the same thing I always do. My hair is two inches shorter than I asked for, my bangs are horribly uneven and entirely too short, and I HATE the way it looks. I didn't want to leave a review because I really don't want to get anyone in trouble or something, but this is poor workmanship and I'm horribly unhappy with it. Please do yourself a favor and do not waste time or money here. I came in on 02/12 for a blow-dry in preparation for an event on 02/13. The stylist, Sadie, was in there by herself and didn't even know I had an appointment. She was knowledgeable when talking to me about how to take care of my colored hair but everything went downhill quickly. When washing my hair it was cold and the water pressure was strong and uncomfortable. When she was brushing my hair she was too rough and I don't usually have a sensitive scalp but it felt like she was pulling spots of hair out. During the blow-dry she was burning me and I kept moving my head hoping she'd be more gentle. I had asked for my curls to at least last until the next day and told her my hair usually doesn't hold curls but the last few times I've gone to my usual place it's held up for 2-3 days. She decided the best style to give me was loose beach curls with a lot of hairspray... This place is not worth your money! If only my usual girl at my usual salon wasn't completely booked up I would have not gone here and paid a good amount to redo my own hair the next morning. read more

I showed up for my appt after a 30 minute drive only to find the place closed and I did not even receive a call advising my appt was canceled. I was referred by a friend to get balayage done at Studio Gabriella in Baton Rouge. I was told Gabriella was the salon owner and had been a celebrity hair stylist. When I arrived I was extremely nervous, as it was my first time coloring my hair. I showed Gabriella photos of what I had in mind and was very specific that I wanted the coloring to look natural. Gabriella explained that to get my hair to the color I showed her it would take two rounds. When I informed her that I did not live in Baton Rouge and would not be able to come back a second time, it was all downhill from there. In hindsight, I was completely written off at this point since I would not be a repeat customer. The service provided was hurried, sloppy (continue reading), and there was no attempt made to build rapport. When my hair was finished and I looked in the mirror, my reaction was more stunned than excited. Gabriella rushed me out of the chair and into the corner to take a photo, insisting that it would just take some getting used to. Gabriella also assured me that she would contact me recommending a local hair stylist that could complete the second round of color, which of course was an empty promise. I got home from the salon around 9 pm and went directly to bed since I had a 5 am flight the next morning. I woke up to chunky streaks in the front of my hair (see photo). Mortified, I wore my jacket hood up to cover my hair the entire flight home & opted to work from home for the day. I frantically called around to local salons asking if they could squeeze me in that day to have the streaks corrected. Luckily, I was able to have my hair fixed the same day avoiding the humiliation of having to sport the chunks in public. The hairdresser that corrected my hair told me that the dye was not properly blended. Given this information, I wrote to Studio Gabriella twice requesting a partial refund for their error. I never heard back from the Studio. I even gave them the benefit of the doubt and checked my spam/junk folder on a regular basis. I can say that the salon itself was clean and modern. There were some nice touches including free mimosas and heated towels. However, my experience was too poor to be able to recommend this salon to anyone for hair coloring. read more

Scheduled an appointment online for Saturday, 12/2/23 and everything was confirmed. Since this was my first time here, I arrived about 15-20 minutes early to be safe. Salon was locked up tight and not a single soul was around. I figured MAYBE there was an emergency so I called the salon and left a voicemail since no one answered letting them know I was here and waiting. I never received a call back so I went to the other entrance inside the gym and asked them if they'd heard of anything and they hadn't so I continued to wait. I waited till my appt time hoping that someone would show up (my appt was booked with Gabriella). No one ever showed up or called me back so I called and left another voicemail telling them I left b/c no one was there and almost a WEEK later, still no response at all. Please don't waste your time here.... I did and still am in shock that this is how it panned out. 0/10!!!!!! I got a keratin treatment here and I absolutely loved it! My hair was so shiny, i have naturally curly hair and this cut my straightening time in half. They squeezed me in on a busy day. Everyone I have interacted with at this Studio has been very friendly, and I know many people rave about this place, so I may have had an unusual experience, but wanted to share my honest review nonetheless. My experience with Studio Gabriella has consisted of unimpressive, over-priced haircuts and lots of waiting before appointments. A few weeks after receiving a disappointing basic trim here, my bangs were growing out in a way where they didn't lay correctly. I called and scheduled a bang trim to, in essence, fix the bang trim that I had received from them a couple of weeks earlier. After arriving on time, I waited 20 minutes before receiving a bang trim that took five minutes, and was then charged $10 for this bang trim. I get that it's only $10, but this shocked me for two reasons. 1) I have never been to a salon where an established client is charged for a five-minute bang trim. 2) The bang trim was needed because of an issue this salon had caused when they performed my basic trim. It was just a little surprising and frustrating, and the whole experience was certainly enough to prompt me to find another salon in Baton Rouge. read more

Well one of the workers named Emily acts like a bully and a monster. I came in for the two "money pieces" they gave me to be toned down and to have my hair styled. First complaint was that Emily handed me the hair brush and said here you brush your hair since you have extensions. She already had shown me her demeanor and was now on styling my hair. I was so nervous to let her style it. I was too nervous to let her tone the money strands down from being bleach blonde. I would ask questions and she would respond by belittling me so much so that I chose opted not to get what I wanted done at least not from this salon! I showed them a picture of how I wanted my hair to be highlighted and the colors and the blonde money streaks came out three shades lighter than my picture. I have never seen a slob stylist make you brush your own hair and treat people in that way. I would tell her boss but supposedly she is never there. Trust me Baton Rouge for their prices you get way better treatment and are not treated with such disrespect. they made me pay full price for styling i paid and gracefully said no tip today. read more

I went in for a trim and left with a buzzcut well almost. I told the lady that I just wanted to get a inch or two cut and she said ok and shampooed me and sat down in her chair and began reading my magazine and she turned the chair around from the mirror and began cutting and she cut and then I noticed she was going back over each section and cutting again and I thought she was just checking the cut and when she finished it was about six inches shorter so I said I thought we agreed on two inches and she said she had to cut a little more cause the ends were damaged so I guess you are at the mercy of the stylist but she was really pretty and how can you be mad at a pretty lady so it will grow back in a few months but next time I will tell her not to turn the chair away from the mirrors. read more

I was referred by one of my sorority sisters so go to Studio Gabriella. I was annoyed by the amount of time she kept pushing me to go there, with deals and discounts. It made them seem a little desperate for clients, but I needed a highlight so I went anyways. Although my highlight was not terrible I was extremely disappointed with the experience. There were men hanging out flirting with the owner and stylists. The manager seemed nice but seemed like she was running the place on her own. I noticed they kept changing the volume of music, which was way too loud the entire time I was there. Overall my experience below average, do to the fact that I felt more stressed leaving than when I came in. When I get my haircut I want to feel like I am at a spa, not Hooters. read more

When I moved to Baton Rouge I was so nervous about finding a new hair salon that I let me hair get really bad before finally choosing Studio Gabriella from all the positive reviews online. I went in thinking I was going to need to cut it shorter to make it look healthy again but Gabriella cut and colored my hair to make it look the best it ever has looked.
