When making the appointment, I should've been told I was getting someone in training whose work needed to be evaluated. Maggie didn't say a word when evaluated. WHAT A LOVELY GROUP OF LADIES! We were here on Saturday with a group of ten women getting ready for a wedding and it was a truly magical experience. We had the whole place to ourselves, including access to the massage chairs! The Starbucks kiosk was a life saver. But more importantly- every single one of us looked AMAZING. Do not hesitate to book them for your wedding! Ps. Saw a negative review below about having to pay a deposit for the hair trial, and that is EXTREMELY normal practice for booking your wedding vendors. They are essentially closing half a day of appointments for you, so it is worth every penny! read more

worst customer service I've ever had via telephone. I was told that I'd be required to book and PAY for a trial for an up-do, so the salon could "protect themselves", not to ensure I was going to be happy with the hair style. What a joke. I could go on and ON about how much the phone call sucked, but instead I'm going to focus on spending my money elsewhere. read more

This place is great for weddings! We basically came in and took over the place. After a few hair trials that didn't go so awesome, I was a little nervous. I got into town early and met with Maggie on Thursday to do a trial of hair and makeup. She was so sweet and reassured me I was in good hands. And I was! She did an amazing job on not only my hair and makeup but my mom and bridesmaids as well. Courtney was also great!! She worked on most of the bridesmaids and did a fantastic job! My husband I got married in Galena, we are from the Chicago area. I visited Studio One for my trial hair and makeup for my wedding and Maggie did a wonderful job! I booked my hair and makeup appointment and got a mani/pedi for myself and my maid of honor the morning of my wedding day. The ladies at the salon are very sweet (one went across the street to get a muffin for me from the bakery) and attentive. LOVE this salon. I hope to visit again soon. So we were off to Galena, IL to stay at the Goldmoor Inn B&B for a much needed relaxing vaca when I thought it would be fun to go and get my hair trimmed and styled for the evening of festivities!!! My boyfriend played along like a good sport and got his dew all sexied up. Me on the other hand...got my hair trimmed which was fine but I am pretty sure I will need it trimmed again because once she started ripping through it and blow drying it I screamed bloody murder in pain!!!! EEEKKKK! Then to top things off I wanted her to straighten it, which should be the easiest thing to do...IF YOU HAVE A STRAIGHTENER!!!! HELLO, aren't you a beautician??? She straightened my hair with a curling iron and then attempted to curl my ends under...HELLO 80's :) Needless to say I pulled my hair up, went back to the Goldmoor Inn and washed all the 80's out. I got my nails done here before my wedding and they were lovely. So accommodating and understanding. There were six of us with three under the age of seven and the technicians were to sweet to us & did a nice job. They created a relaxing environment for me leading up to the big day. I started going here almost a year ago and I love it! They take the time to talk to you to really determine what you want and what is also good for you! I recently got extensions and am in love with everything about them. Maggie really made sure to match it all flawlessly so you can't even tell I have them. She even took the time to really show me how to take them out and put them in on top of how to style and wash the extensions! They also have a sauna which is relaxing and has multiple different options so you get the best sauna session based on what you want (weight loss, pain relief, etc). Tina, the owner, really makes everyone feel like family and it's such a pleasant environment from the moment you walk in and are treated by Julie who quickly helps you with any of your needs up front. I have yet to meet a staff member here that I didn't like! If you are looking for a nice, relaxing, and professional place who really knows what they are doing I highly suggest this place.
