Great bar with a great staff and excellent entertainment. Certain areas of the bar can be very playful as well.

Anonimo, sitting a few blocks from the heart of Zona Romantica, is a small, but mighty place to…read morepick up a few cocktails and enjoy th energy of PV. I say "small", as the the inside spaces, on all three floors, can get tight, especially the first and third floors. However, the outdoor space on the second floor makes up for it all! Wraparound seating, string lights and gorgeous murals...this courtyard is where we spent more of our time while at Anonimo. We were here for the cocktails of course, so we hit the main floor first, then made our way up to the third floor before settling in the outdoor courtyard. Drinks here are standard beer and cocktails. Pricing is great, as with most places in the area. While are not cash only, they do highly recommend cash and have a 500 pesos limit for credit card usage. If you are only have a drink or two, you may not be able to hit that, but we just put our groups first round on the same tab and were able to make do with no issues. Service was friendly and welcoming, space was fun, open and distinctly PV. Overall, we loved it and will certainly be back on future visits!

Te amo barra de videos!…read more Anónimo is a queer cocktail bar in Puerto Vallarta on the just outside the outskirts of the Zona Romantica area in PV. It's a multi-story bar lounge to hang and enjoy some great cocktails as well as some amazing music and music videos from all over. They closed a little earlier than normal the night we stopped in, a bit surprising for a Saturday night but definitely still enjoyable since we closed the bar out on the patio of the top floor overlooking the street with two solid drinks. Our bartender was really easy going offered for us to pick a few videos but one of the customers was on a role so we just let them have it - only a little off after they started skipping videos. The entire layout is very fun, definitely watch you step and your head if you're tall like me and the novio. Definitely a great spot to wrap up the night and/or start it off. The second level has this amazing wide patio deck with a beautiful mural. Definitely need to hang there a bit next time. We only had one minor issue with change here, but it got resolved really easily. Everyone we met was kind, friendly and welcoming even the person living their best life as the impromptu video dj of the night shot after shot. It's a full bar, no eats, but nothing but great energy and beats.

The perfect balance of a nightclub experience that is not only in the queer-bar neighborhood of…read moreZona Romantica, but is welcoming for all. This club is so much fun and I've taken all my friends and recommended Code and everyone has had a great time. The setup is definitely more table based but it is pretty affordable. Once you walk up the main steps there is usually a small cover fee to come in and the bar is right in the back of the first floor. Up the massive mahogany stairs are the multitude of floor-to-ceiling doors that are all unisex bathrooms. I love the large mirror at the top of the stairs for a quick selfie and of course the bathroom attendants are super friendly. I've noticed a top floor but have yet to decipher if it is private event space of additional table seating (I will try to remember to ask next time). What makes Code stand out is the level of theatrics and lighting that are utilized throughout the night. From male and female go-go dancers, cascading light and disco ball drops that are synced to the music, pyrotechnics, and so much more -- this is one hell of a spot. Each night on different trips I've been on there has been a different theme for each night. You can tell they take great pride and plan out each theme accordingly. For those who opt for a table, they have some of the best service. From a dedicated server exclusive to your table for the entirety of the night to the frequent checks on what mixers or drinks you might need. You'll be squared away. Make it a point to add this to your trip itinerary and you will not be disappointed.

This is a most unusual club. There isn't a dance floor; instead it is a bunch of couches. We were…read moreapproached from the street which was cool, but then we walked in and there were at least 25 miserable looking workers trying so hard to get into party mode. They were basically zombie dancing, where you know they could hear the beat but were mentally checked out. One round of drinks was about 500 MXN for 2 simple tequila and sodas. The staff tried hard to sell us on those couch areas, and I believe the price was around 5,000 MXN for the base package. You are not allowed to sit unless you purchase. We actually might have bought this, but there is an Alfred Hitchcock-esque vibe here that cannot be explained on yelp. The theme of this place is a library plus the feeling you're being watched in your house. Also there are balloons. The crowd is very young; it was mostly 19ish looking people. Eventually, there was a performer who hung by her hair, which actually was really cool which is why this got an extra star. I was confused why they didn't advertise this during their crazy couch sales pitch. Overall we did have some fun dancing to the fun music but this is a hard pass. If you go, do pay cash and leave before they get extra weird.

The neon rainbow arch in the center of the club was very Insta worthy, and the queens engaged with everyone in the audience. The staff and queens also spoke English, so it was easy to enjoy ourselves without worrying about communication. The adjoining dance floor, DJ, and go go cages in the next room were fun too, and this was a great place to spread out, dance, and enjoy the second bar. It was also very easy to get an Uber home after our night out as the bar is located in the heart of the Zona Romantica, and is easily identifiable.

CC Slaughters does not sleep!…read more Open from 2pm until 6am everyday of the week, this all day and all night party is the busiest bar + nightclub in Puerto Vallarta. The day is more mellow with food + drink specials with many people enjoying their outdoor set up with tables and chairs overlooking the street. Located across from Mr. Flamingo's they have incredible music that can be heard from both entrances, usually with a line forming out of the corner side as the night goes on. We passed through during the day, but attempted to pop in for a bit on a Friday night and the wait was just too wild... Slow moving line. The staff and security seem friendly, reasonable prices and fun decor. I've been to the CC Slaughters in Portland and was this years old when I realized they had a location in Zona Romantica - in similar fashion one side is more casual bar hang and the other is full blown nightclub with top 40 pop, latin favorites and lots of nostalgic dance throwbacks. If you're looking to dance until the sun comes up CC Slaughter - PV is the place to be. Dope DJs, drag galore, occasional go-gos, and great bartender pours. During huge event weeks like Beef Dip the party is just as much outside as it is on the end, but getting a beverage of choice might take a hot minute.

Bar La Playa is a MUST first-stop when visiting Zona Romantica…read more On our most recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, we wanted to spend a day in this part of the region. After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.
