The perfect balance of a nightclub experience that is not only in the queer-bar neighborhood of Zona Romantica, but is welcoming for all. This club is so much fun and I've taken all my friends and recommended Code and everyone has had a great time. The setup is definitely more table based but it is pretty affordable. Once you walk up the main steps there is usually a small cover fee to come in and the bar is right in the back of the first floor. Up the massive mahogany stairs are the multitude of floor-to-ceiling doors that are all unisex bathrooms. I love the large mirror at the top of the stairs for a quick selfie and of course the bathroom attendants are super friendly. I've noticed a top floor but have yet to decipher if it is private event space of additional table seating (I will try to remember to ask next time). What makes Code stand out is the level of theatrics and lighting that are utilized throughout the night. From male and female go-go dancers, cascading light and disco ball drops that are synced to the music, pyrotechnics, and so much more -- this is one hell of a spot. Each night on different trips I've been on there has been a different theme for each night. You can tell they take great pride and plan out each theme accordingly. For those who opt for a table, they have some of the best service. From a dedicated server exclusive to your table for the entirety of the night to the frequent checks on what mixers or drinks you might need. You'll be squared away. This is a most unusual club. There isn't a dance floor; instead it is a bunch of couches. We were approached from the street which was cool, but then we walked in and there were at least 25 miserable looking workers trying so hard to get into party mode. They were basically zombie dancing, where you know they could hear the beat but were mentally checked out. One round of drinks was about 500 MXN for 2 simple tequila and sodas. The staff tried hard to sell us on those couch areas, and I believe the price was around 5,000 MXN for the base package. You are not allowed to sit unless you purchase. We actually might have bought this, but there is an Alfred Hitchcock-esque vibe here that cannot be explained on yelp. The theme of this place is a library plus the feeling you're being watched in your house. Also there are balloons. The crowd is very young; it was mostly 19ish looking people. Eventually, there was a performer who hung by her hair, which actually was really cool which is why this got an extra star. I was confused why they didn't advertise this during their crazy couch sales pitch. Overall we did have some fun dancing to the fun music but this is a hard pass. Strange place! It is very cool concept with floor to ceiling bookshelves, but it is very much a cash grab. They do not tell you cost of anything before you order. We were not scammed like others, but it was something I noticed right away. A small space made smaller by MANY employees banging sticks on metal drums. I do not need to hear this while I am out with my handsome husband! The ambiance is nice but I like to dance and I could not because employees were constantly pushing past us running around. Please beware of this night club! I think they try and bamboozle international travelers. Although it's a beautiful nightclub with great music! They charged me 1900 pesos (94.00 USD) in addition to my original tab which was 3,500.00 pesos equaling to about (174.00 USD) I have been to a few night clubs in Puerto Vallarta, waiters who have waited on my table have asked me how much I would like to tip when I ask for the check. Which was strange when I got the bill the tip was already included at that much! That is way over 20% I asked to speak to a supervisor and he was condescending and kept insinuating that I was the one with a problem when I was politely inquiring why was my credit card charge an additional 1900 pesos. I'm sure this is happening quite often with non local visitors! I recommend paying and tipping in pesos if you are going to enjoy an evening at code! A few things that just don't seem to make sense: 1.) We had a table of 4 people and we literally had 4 different waiters or more! Not even over exaggerating. 2.) The servers were overly attentive to the point to where we barley had room to dance. There were a few times where we literally had 2 servers at our table. Not like there's much space with a party of 4 to maneuver and dance anyway. 3.) They are obnoxiously trying to sell bottles that you may not show interest in! We were drinking tequila the entire night and they kept mentioning other vodka bottles to purchase. After we kept mentioning that we would like to stick with tequila! 4.) You would think a place this is so festive and fun would hold a certain kind of accountability for being professional and respectful! The staff is not that nice! The security guard who checked my bag and outfit at the door had more commitment to excellence than the server pouring my Don Julio tequila! I don't think I've ever been treated this bad at any establishment. They charge us cover charge because my boyfriend and I look like tourist. Was in there for literally 10 minutes. Overpriced drinks and shady employees. There was way more workers than customers. Loud banging from employees. When we left and asked for our money back, there was no manager that will show up or talk to us. The vibe was very pretentious and made up. I witnessed 20 guest at the door not have to pay cover if they "act" like they know the employees. Employee all have horrible attitudes and and watches your every move to make sure you don't place your glass down without a napkin underneat. Was promised multiple floors only to find out that it is a tiny dance floor on the main floor only with many empty tables and no room to dance. I wish I would have read and taken to heart the other one star review before entering this establishment. I was traveling to PV from Nashville, Tennessee. I will try to make this as short and precise as possible. BEWARE IF YOU ARE A TOURIST. I ended up having a bar tab of 51,398 pesos, which is the equivalent of over $2500 USD. I did not order a single drink at their establishment. A few friends and I decided to go to CODE after being at Roxy for approximately 90 minutes. At Roxy, I consumed 2 Light Tecates, which were paid for by our friend Tim. He lives in PV. We entered CODE and were obviously so excited. The atmosphere is phenomenal and we were excited to dance and have a good time. The entire time we were at code, which was approximately 90 minutes, I did not buy a single drink. Our friend, Tim, was going to the back bar to order and bringing us the drinks. At one point, there were all these sparklers and guys singing happy birthday to me. My girlfriend that was with me the whole night and I were VERY confused, as it was not my birthday, but assumed that our friend Tim did it as a joke because he was walking away from the back bar where he had ordered our drinks. A glass was placed in my hand and my friend Rachel's hand and champagne was poured. Again, I assumed (since I had not ordered anything nor had I looked at a menu) that Tim had ordered the champagne for us. Rachel drank one glass of champagne and I drank two. One of our girlfriends had been taking shots with the guys and because of this was heavily intoxicated. Rachel and I agreed she needed to go home. Rachel said she would take her home and I decided to stay an extra 30 minutes with Tim -- until the bar closed because we were having such a good time. Biggest mistake of my life. CHONITO SALGADO WAS OUR SERVER. 30 minutes after my girl friends left, Tim and I attempt to exit the bar and they inform me that I had a bar tab I needed to pay. Even though I knew I didn't order anything, I was happy to pay for whatever was unpaid. Everyone had left the bar at this point and it was just Tim and I inside. I am 5'3 120 lbs. I was surrounded by 8 bouncers who were all accusing me of ordering two bottles of Ace of Spades champagne which totaled 51,398 pesos. I was dumbfounded. This is at 4:30am. They kept me there insisting I pay the money or they would have me arrested. Around 7:00am, they called the police, had me handcuffed, and placed in the back of a cop car. I have only heard horror stories of crooked police officers in Mexico and I was terrified for not only my physical safety, but possibly my life. I finally handed my United States Passport, United States ID, and I-Phone over to the owners of CODE. That was the only way they were not going to have me taken to jail. I finally was able to return back to our condo and tried to sleep. I woke up the next day completely petrified. I did not have that kind of money and they had everything of importance to me. My brother and sister are lawyers in the states and I discussed things with them. We agreed I needed to do whatever I could to get the passport back. We returned to CODE a day later. I had talked to the owner on the phone the night before about paying for just ONE bottle, because one of the bottles of $1200 champagne was full. WHY WOULD I ORDER 1200 CHAMPAGNE AND NOT DRINK IT? Whenever we returned to pay and get my things, he claimed he had never discussed that with me and wanted the payment in full. After another hour of trying to negotiate, we agreed on the full price for one bottle and the cost price of the other (which was legit 50% of what they charge. So they mark it up 100%). Once $1,884.50 was charged on my credit card, they handed me the passport and said they wouldn't return my other things if I didn't pay the price in full. Completely going back on the agreement we made. My friend has all of this on video. My other friend generously agreed to pay the remaining $665.50. It was a nightmare. I have been so anxious ever since. TERRIFYING. Not worth just having a good time. I regret entering this bar EVER and encourage people to think twice before doing so. read more

Co-de is a high end club. Its deceiving from the outside, but inside will blow you away. Cover charge is 100 peso per person. I think locals get in for free. Co-de is a two story club with a three wall led screen, live dj, lots of moving lights and light bars, fire, and awesome decor. There are a lot of staff and most are friendly. The draw is the private tables and bottle service you can rent for a very reasonable price. In the back is a full service bar. This club was a mind blowing experience! From the outside you would think a high-end basic night club. Walking in was loud body rocking with bass music filled with a energetic crowed. The style was a library, cigar/gentlemen's club vibe without the poles. We had a table with bottle service reserved on the first floor in the corner. It looked like there was several tables for service along with the general crowed. The service staff are incredible Guadalupe in particular! Super energetic and keeping the crowed hyped. I was expecting a normal club i was impressed with a whole performance. From the light show to the actors preforming along with the mixed lively activity that's involved throughout the night. Hot damn I love this place! It's been just over a year since I've been to PV and since then, CO-DE has opened and is probably my new favorite club in the city. This place is dope AF and I wish I had a place that came even close to it's style and vibe back home. Where to start??? Well, it's kind of a gay bar, kind of not. It's in the gay district and definitely friendly, but there were plenty of straight people there as well. I dig that inclusive vibe. You might want to dress up a little, because this place is fancy compared to the other neighborhood offerings. Once you're inside, you're going to be in sensory overload. The lighting system is over-the-top great, with awesome lasers and these glowing balls that rise and fall from the ceiling. The music is fantastic and pumped through one hell of a system. Oh, and there are aerial dancers, fire effects, random drum lines that march through the dance floor, and sexy dance troops that will appear out of nowhere. It's frickin wild! There is a ton of staff and pretty much as soon as your drink is gone you've got somebody offering to get you another. Sure you CAN go up to the bar but there's no need, these people will take great care of you. Bottle service is really easy to do and what's cool is that you can do it right in the middle of the dance floor! You don't have to be cornered off behind some rope to enjoy a bottle. Amazing amazing amazing! Not sure how much is cover but I was able to sign up on the guest list so my group of 6 was able to get in free. We also received an open bar wristband (literally all you can drink from 11pm - 1:30am). Groups of +4 get seated in a section and are offered free bottle service (all you have to do is TIP the server) Our server was "La Patuleca". Hands down she provided the best service I have ever received compared to other high-end clubs in Las Vegas, Hollywood, and Miami. She brought us tons of shots n two bottles. There were way too many servers...they hovered and were quite distracting, although they were friendly. My friends and I came to this club. We had a horrible experience. They will scam you if you are not Mexican because they try to take advantage of your money. The night we went it was free open bar, and they scammed us into getting a "free bottle" if we paid for the "service". The service was 600 pesos which we would not have had to pay considering it was open bar that night. Gave sever 200 pesos more than the bill and he didn't ask if we needed change, he just pocketed the money. read more
